Even if it does come to fruition, I know I wouldn't buy it, so I suppose I'm technically safe.

As for what Bill Gates has to say... I'm honestly completely unaware. About all I know about what he has to say regarding anything, is that he said "no comment" when asked about his opinion of the iPad.

Speaking of Xbox One, by the way, a little something from gameinformer.com...

gameinformer.com

Last week was all about Microsoft and its new console, the Xbox One. We missed a big story, though. Comcast stepped up to the plate on the very same day with a new video for its own media monster. Meet… the X1.

This device has it all. Leveraging the power of the Xfinity service (not to be confused with the "infinite power of the cloud"), the X1 will give you a search engine for your television, and it's even voice operated via your smart phone (a second-screen device).

The X1 also has a DVR (though not one that records games) and access to the social networks and media apps that matter most to (some of) you, including Facebook and Pandora.

In all seriousness, the X1 rollout was announced exactly a year prior to the Xbox One announcement. We're not sure why Microsoft would risk the brand confusion, especially as there are likely going to be many Comcast customers that will use that service through their Xbox One.

One thing is for sure, Comcast phone support representatives are in for a lot of confusing calls.

See this is why I don't think people will be interested. It has more competition than a traditional gaming console because there are already many devices out there that fill the roll of the "all-in-one" device.

Microsoft is practically handing the money over to Nintendo and Sony for this generation. I just got the 360, and I'm so glad I decided not to get Microsoft's next console.

I've heard that the XBox One also has face recognition, and something along the lines of it blocking Netflix or Hulu if a friend is using it, so that you don't lend people your XBox so they can use your account. Which is incredibly stupid thinking, Microsoft. They're not going to make their money back.

Also, how am I supposed to play if my internet is crap? It just randomly stops working from time to time, and I can't rely on it to work my XBox. Also, there are people out there with specific WiFi plans who get charged for using too much internet. How can they use the XBox One?

The majority of the games I buy are used, so that's awful. If my game isn't in perfect condition, I'm not paying full price for it anyway. I may as well get it brand new if they want to go by that. It's one thing to make a small fee, but the whole $50?

Also, that name. I know what they were going for, but it is incredibly inconvenient. I used to call the original XBox the XBox One. Cue the confusions.

Apparently the Kinect will be almost as long as the console itself.

I know that Sony is trying to advertise the multitasking, but it doesn't work. I understand mobile phones and computers allowing you to watch live TV, but why a gaming console? It's hooked to the TV to begin with, so what's the point? I can just pick up the remote and switch to television from there.

Microsoft were already finding every excuse to get money before, but I could at least put up with it then. Now it's just overwhelming.

You know, I wonder where this puts Sega in the gaming industry. If they started caring about their franchises other than Sonic again, I wonder what this could do for them. The original XBox was based off the Dreamcast, after all.

But in terms of sales, this is going to be the Saturn of the gaming industry. High hopes from the company, little attention from gamers. Microsoft is going to be forced to sit and watch Nintendo and Sony compete.
It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power!

Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure.

So, how bad was the presentation? So bad that Amazon sales of the Wii U in the UK absolutely sky-rocketed;

http://www.cubed3.com/news/18854/1/wii-u-uk-sales-skyrocket-on-amazon-uk-after-xbox-one-showing.html

Yeah, it's safe to say that it is point, the competition is going to be between Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft is not going to do all that well this gen. =|
I kinda figured... After watching it I even felt like getting a Wii U down the road as a supplemental console.
Ahh. I haven't checked out this forum in a while. I'm glad to see all the buzz about the Xbox One though :) And of course I'm not referring to good buzz. I looked through most of this thread and see that everyone here is pretty much on the same page as me.

I have been following this since the conference first aired and what I find interesting now is how misunderstood we as gamers seem to be. Everyone here knows that this is pretty much the end of xbox (unless Sony does it too). Microsoft on the other hand, with all of their empirical data doesn't seem to know this yet. They seem to see their focus at the conference on the Xbox One being an all in one machine as their only big mistake. The other big disconnect from reality that any gamer can plainly see (but apparently not Microsoft) is that they have a sales goal of 1 billion Xbox One's worldwide. I don't even think that many android phones have been sold!

Well, In summary, I'm an avid xbox guy, and they completely ruined it for me. Finally before I finish my 10 cents worth on the matter, here are some interesting videos I found online having to do with the Xbox one conference in general. Enjoy...

Also, I wanted to correct Nado The Rabbit on one thing. You are close, but the facial recognition technology that are referring to probably has to do with this...

Ah, I see. I just heard about it while watching a Youtube discussion video, and even the guys talking weren't 100% sure about it. Thanks for clearing it up!

Also, I'd basically be paying extra to play a used game. The money I'd pay the seller with, and the full price to Microsoft. If I were to get the XOne (Which would take a lot at this point to convince me is worth it.), I may as well just buy everything brand new if Microsoft is going to be a cheap bastard.

By the way, could we still play its' games after the generation is over? Or would the console be worthless?

I actually wouldn't mind if the system just had basic upgrades such as better graphics, more system power, better internet connection, and so on. But Microsoft is taking a giant step in the wrong direction.

Assuming that the console would have to be connected at least once a day to the internet, probably means the servers will eventually be gone at one point or another down the road, probably making it a worthless hunk of metal. But I could be wrong, as it's way too early to determine that. Honestly I don't think anything at all will convince me to buy this... not even an exclusive Sonic game. :P

Sounds like things are going very poorly at Microsoft. I feel bad for them.

Default GAF Confirming: ESRAM causing Yield issues for One, MS neutering GPU:

Mods, you can remove "rumor" from the title. ESRAM yields are "troubling", to put it lightly.
This is factual truth.

Btw, you won't hear tech talk at MS' conference. And the tech cannot change at this point. They're stuck with it.
MS rushed, they were caught off guard by Sony, due to a failure in leadership.

es Crazy [crazy buttocks on a train] has confirmed this off site. Also GopherD is as close to a nailed down confirmation that you could ask for.

Forget me and thuway, proelite and others when Gopher talks then you should really pay attention.

For everyone asking- this information is all pretty recent. Around the PlayStation Meeting the Xbox One was way behind (OS + hardware). Engineers were scrambling to get things sorted out.

It turns out, they didn't sort it out. The OS you saw was a complete and total lie. The current plan is to get the yields up, lower the clock rate, and to have enough units out for a sell out in the Fall.

For those asking how this affects performance- to be perfectly frank; it is nothing turning down features won't solve. The mass market will never notice a difference between 1080p and 900p; neither will they care about dynamic shadows / global illumination / or tesselation. Go to your PC - and turn shadows from Ultra to medium, disable tesselation, and lower the resolution to 900p; and you'll find games run totally fine.

Microsoft is purely behind and it's now time to make drastic decisions. I don't think any one is happy about the lower clocks, but no one is depressed about it either. The Xbox One is an all-in-on device; and that's how it will be marketed.

They've also cancelled their post E3 press event... Looks like they're worried about bad press.

Seriously? I've been looking forward to this E3, mainly for Microsoft. I guess they're trying to figure out how to save themselves after digging their own grave.

With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.

Oh, and you can only trade in games at participating retailers.

And you can lend games to a friend but only if they have been on your friend list for 30 days.
. . .
And they can only play a borrowed game once.

Oh but this ability will not be available at launch.

Welp. At they also confirmed themselves that the Kinect won't be tracking movement and watching you even when on.

Why would you have to wait 30 days to share a game with a friend, if they're your friend. Where's the logic behind that one? Also only allowed to play a game from your library on someone's console other than yours for only an hour is another dumb feature that also doesn't make any sense. Microsoft, just keep digging that hole now... you might be able to get out of it... maybe sometime in the future far from now... Also someone else posted on a different forum that Microsoft is cancelling their E3 press... geez I wonder why. :V
