Persona 4 Arena - Also going to start this. Feel a bit burnt out on RPGs after playing the Lightning saga one right after the other so a fighting game should freshen things up before tackling the Tales games.
We oughta have a match sometime.

-Dark Souls II-
Brothers picked it up. Decided to give it a try. Hated it at first but I'm enjoying it a bit more now that I'm getting the hang of it. Still has its moments though.
Sure! Granted you'll probably destroy me. Still trying to get the hang of the controls.

Persona 4 Arena - Just cleared the Yukiko match as Yu Narukami. So far I'm rather mixed whether 2D fighters are actually for me, since the only one I previously played was Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (which I wasn't a big fan of). Not sure if I'm getting used to the controls as I tried going through the lesson mode and it's taking several tries for me to pull off some these moves. I just wonder why somebody would take the time to flick the control stick once or twice followed by a pattern of buttons in the middle of a heated battle. I hope I'm missing something and I'll get it as I play. Really do want to like this since Persona 4's cast is my favorite cast in an RPG and I would love to see what the story brings, which seems promising so far.

The Last of Us - Downloading the Left Behind DLC... which is taking longer than I thought. Hope I'll start tomorrow.

And Dark Souls II. Hrm. Part of me wondered if I should have just skipped the first game (I own it but haven't started it) and grabbed this, since it doesn't appear the games are actually all that connected. Heard the game is slightly more newcomer friendly too, which I can't imagine it sits well with Souls fans.

Persona 4 Arena is 2D Anime Fighters simplified to the extreme. It's still got depth, but it's nowhere near as complex in terms of learning move sets as something like BlazBlue is. Still a plenty good game, but it's intentionally simple so the RPG crowd can still play it.

That said I'm pretty rusty and BlazBlue minded, so my victory isn't THAT assured. Hah.

Yoshi's New Island. It's actually... not a bad game. Yeah, it has some flaws here and there, but they don't detract from the overall experience.

The Last of Us - Cleared the Left Behind DLC this morning, after the download got corrupted (grumble grumble). It started to grow tedious near the end (They were sweet moments but I think I actually enjoyed the Ellie winter moments then the Ellie/Riley flashbacks... which the former wasn't really the point of the DLC) and it didn't actually expand as much as I liked (Wanted to see more of Ellie after the whole incident with Riley) but despite that, it was pretty good.

Persona 4 Arena - Starting to get the hang of the controls now and I'm liking it more. I think the online matches with Ludi helped. Gold medal'd Yu, Yosuke, Yukiko, Chie, Naoto, and Kanji's campaigns. Story completion is at 81% or something. Looking forward for the sequel. Will be chipping away at the story mode campaigns.

Tales of Symphonia - Part of the Chronicles HD collection. With the XIII saga over and The Last of Us DLC and P4A serving as a nice break, time to begin the other half of my PS3 RPGs. Starting with Symphonia and then I'll replay the sequel and start Xillia. May try to finish Graces too, though not sure when or if I want to. Been years since I played Symphonia (only once on a rental) but it's pretty nice so far. Forgot a lot about it. The beginning still hits me hard and the cast is charming as ever. However, the port seems rather lazy compared to other HD ports as there's some bad costume clipping with the new outfits in this HD port and there's slowness at times that was expected to be fixed. But looking at the game itself, it's a rather refreshing and charming RPG I look forward to playing again.

@Blaire: I want to play Yoshi's New Island soon actually. People being rather harsh on it because nowadays they expect Nintendo to make each platformer innovating.

Yeah. I mean, it's not as good as the original game Which is the best game ever, so of course that's going to be hard to top anyway, but when you look past the flaws, it's a pretty fun game.

My problem with Yoshi's New Island is that it looks really bad. I mean gamplay wise it seems to be alright. But visually... just... ech. That said, after all the New Super Mario Bros. games I don't blame people for being over the concept.

-Final Fantasy X HD Remaster-
The main game I'm currently playing. Still my favourite Final Fantasy without a doubt. Making a point of getting everything this time. Updated visuals are all pretty slick (though you can still tell its a PS2 game at heart, which is fine) and the soundtrack... man, the soundtrack. So good. My favourite battle theme is now only even more my favourite. Just listen to it. <3

-Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001-
Grabbed this on a whim from the PSN since I've always wanted to play it. S'not bad.

-Persona 4: Arena-
Like Fen mentioned, I played some with him the other day. Boy I'm rusty.

-Super Smash Bros. Brawl-
Played a bit with my brother after he got the Wii set up the other night. Fun, fun. Wiimote+Nunchuck is kinda eh though.

Yoshi's New Island looks fine to me. Reminds me of the previous games.

And yes, they made the battle theme much better. There's other tracks where they added the electric guitar that I'm pretty mixed on though (The most glaring that comes to mind is "Challenge")... I guess I'll see how I feel for sure when I get the collection. Know I'll still enjoy the hell out of it. I also played both newer and older Final Fantasys since X so it will be interesting to see how it stacks up.

Tales of Symphonia - Part of the Chronicles collection. Will probably get the FFXHD collection after this (then again I still need Kingdom Hearts). At Palmacosta. Game is still as charming as ever. However, I don't think this was in more recent Tales games, but actually losing Grade from battle is really aggravating me. Otherwise, game's really great so far. Can see why this is so celebrated in the series. Granted I don't know if it would surpass Abyss as my favorite in the series but the dungeon I did was pretty great. I miss puzzles. Nowadays dungeons are just "fight enemies and get to the checkpoints" in most RPGs.

Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland - Anyone played this series? Just started because my fudgeing PSP died on me. I got the game due to something unusual so might as well try it out. Rather mixed. Tutorial hell aside, it seems solid. I can see why it's a good game... but not sure if it's the series for me.

Well, yeah. That's kind of the point. I can see what they were going for with the game's art style, but I don't think it translates that well to 3D models. Something just looks off about a 3D Yoshi with a crayon-like texture on his model. But that's me.

And I get what you mean about 'Challenge'. It's basically the same at its heart, but it has a different feel to it compared to the original. Not necessarily a bad feel, though. It sounds to me like they refined it a bit. Removed a lot of the extra noise that it once had (that 'dong dong' that plays around the 1:12 mark in the original, for example) and left in just the most basic elements. It does its job well enough (and personally I love the new drums that have been added) even if it's lost a bit of what it was. Either way, don't mind it.

I'll give more thoughts on the soundtrack as I progress through the game. I could very easily spoil it for myself but considering I didn't know it was a thing until I started playing, I think it'll be more enjoyable to just experience it as though I was playing the game for the first time. Been great playing that way so far.

End game is nigh, so it's time for SIDE QUESTS. The madness begins. Obtained two out of seven fully powered Celestial Weapons and all of the Aeons as of my last save. Next thing will likely be Blitzball tournaments or monster captures.

Have fun with X's tedious postgame. :| Though the new International content should be pretty fun.

Playing some Persona 3 Portable on the PSP again. Picking up where I left off so right before summer vacation. As the female protagonist btw.

Oh how wrong you are.

We got the International content as standard in the PAL regions. It makes what should be a few simple tasks nigh impossible without a rediculous amount of preperation thanks to the gift of Dark Aeons. If you don't get the majority of stuff on the way through the first time (Destruction Crests, certain CW Crests, Valefor's second overdrive if you're a dope like me) there's a good chance you can't get it without going through one of these beasts. Auron has at least two I need to get through in order to obtain one of Jecht's spheres and his Celestial Weapon. I'm... not looking forward to it.

Thanks to this, his CW is probably on par with Lulu's for difficulty to obtain. Both require some sort of skill, but his requires grinding while hers is about 50% luck. Ugh.

Oh... so great the content makes it even worst. I love love love FFX and its narrative but whenever I stray off its narrative I kinda loathe it.
