Neither of those things have anything to do with the website it self... Those are all forum-related...
Not necessarily. When one clicks the button labelled "Website" it forces the Default skin. I'm pretty sure this is the issue they were referring to, although I could be wrong. I also don't know if there's a way to work around that.

 I like Elly's suggestion. It's always good to show that we've got a creative community if we want to draw more people in. xD Plus, it works to our member's advantage as well, in a way of advertising their work.
