Vanity's Falcron. That was the name he was informed the arena his next match was taking place in. Wraith hadn't even had time to return to the lobby to get repairs and resupply before being shunted off to another fight. But that wasn't what was bothering Marcus about this. In fact it was a non-issue due to the events that had unfolded in the last match. Upon his arrival in the last arena, his opponent collapsed for reasons completely unknown to him. It was bizarre. As far as Marcus could tell the... thing was ready to go. But just like that it conked out. Be it from over exerting itself prior to the match or sheer nervousness, it resulted in a victory by default for Wraith. A win may be a win, but that didn't mean Marcus approved of it. It was still dark in the arena when the mech arrived. Entering from the east it made its way towards the center of the sizeable arena with little issues. Its optical sensors provided it with slightly above average night vision, but it was only enough to help it avoid nearby obstacles. If it had to track a moving target in these conditions it would be another story. Taking its position on one side of the concrete in the center the mech stood silently. Almost as if on cue, the sun began to rise behind it. A huge shadow stretched across the 'clock's' face as the light shined off its armor plating. To any walking towards it at this moment it would appear as a silhouette, only the red visor visible as it glowed dimly. The light offered Wraith a clearer view of the arena it was in and the type of environment it would have to work around. Sand covered most of this ruined battlefield, the breeze blowing through causing some of the grains to dance along the ground. It was obvious that time had not been kind to the structures here. Signs of battle were present in the form of broken down walls that only provided minimal cover at this point. Whether the damage was from an earlier round or some ancient battle he couldn't say. Judging by the rate at which the sun was rising behind Wraith time flowed differently in this arena too. Considering some of the things he had witnessed in this tournament Marcus wasn't all that surprised. Then there was the matter of his opponent: Fenroar Strauss. They had met earlier in the lobby, but besides the fact that he was a fairly friendly person he had nothing on him. Some assumptions could be made about his fighting style: He has a sword, so he must be a melee focused fighter. If it came down to a sword fight Marcus was confident that he could win, after all that was what the Wraith was built around. The arena didn't look like it would work too much against him, being fairly open with only some minor obstructions. Nothing like fog to worry about either. Though knowing his luck a sandstorm would kick up at some point. With his initial analysis of the arena and what little data he had on Fenroar concluded, all that was left was to wait for his opponent to show. |

Fenroar wasn't able to stop himself to go after Wraith, and was actually getting pretty tired stamina-wise, unable to quickly turn around and chase after Wraith in the air. Fenroar quickly slowed into a halt, panting a bit but otherwise not too exhausted, with his electricity nearly charged. Wraith however shouted something, becoming muddled with the sounds of the hard rain, before Fenroar could see the mech suddenly flying down at him, his right foot glowing as it approached Fenroar from a diagonal angle in front of him. "That looks like it will hurt," Fenroar reacted, suddenly somersaulting forward hoping to go under Wraith as his eyes glowed. He can't use wind powers to stay a good distant from whatever this attack could do, or if Wraith can change his angle, but Fenroar's electricity is nearly, completely charged, the rain only making things worst. An incredibly bright and powerful lightning bolt unleashed itself from Fenroar's chest, being a couple feet away from Wraith, briefly lighting the area in a bright blue. This is far more powerful then Fenroar's previous attacks, which were weak jolts meant for only brief paralysis, but it wasn't completely charged like what Fenroar intended it to be. However, Wraith being a machine and now the rain could still enhance the damage. Fenroar would say the attack he charged up was only 3/4ths ready(Needing another turn to fill it up). However, seeing his right foot glow, Fenroar is concerned about Wraith's kick, fearing it would do more. Fenroar has a feeling a quick roll won't completely save him here. -- Amount of electricity left: Twenty percent Left hand sprained Nearly out of stamina |

It was already too late by the time Wraith's optic sensors picked up the flash of blue. The lightning bolt hit its intended target, sending a massive shock through the mech's systems. Warnings flashed on its display as it pressed forward, most of its body sustanting some damage of varying degrees due to the water conducting it along the surface. Yet it pushed on and finished its attack, its landing shaking the ground below as sand was kicked up everywhere. "Well... the kid packs a punch when he wants... question is did I hit him?" The shock from the attack had scrambled Wraith's vision, static obscuring its view and leaving it temporarily blinded. There was no way of telling if it succeeded in landing a hit on its target before this function booted up again. Running a quick scan revealed that most of its systems were still functional... but some just barely. Its left arm was now in a critical state and probably would have been damaged beyond being usable if the attack was actually aimed at it. Heck, it might have been blown clean off if he did. It was lucky it still had it. But the question was for how much longer. In this state even using it to attack could result in it falling apart. The rain splashed off Wraith's metal plating as it stood up straight, standing on guard in a ready position. Since it couldn't see it would have to rely on being able to hear its opponent coming. Something that the rain wasn't making easy. If there was ever a time to use the phrase 'sitting duck' in relation to the mech, this was it. ---------- [Turn 9] Weather: Rain EN Reserves: 140 S. "W-Whoa!" Fenroar reacted, seeing the attack hit but Wraith's own attack sending all the sand nearby into the air, partially obscuring his vision as he even flew a couple feet himself. He shielded his eyes from the sand, his eyes being rather sensitive, but the attack directly hit Wraith. Surely he was damaged severely from the attack. Fenroar used even more of his draining stamina to hurl himself towards Wraith's direction again, panting and exhausted, and gripping onto the back of Wraith's leg. |

Wraith looked around the area as though it was trying to find something, though with its vision gone this was merely for show at this point. However it soon became aware of its opponent's position as it felt something latch onto its leg. Instinctively the mech turned its head back and looked down towards where Fenroar was. "That was an impressive move, kid. Didn't know you had that kind of power in ya. But it's not going to be enough!" <REBOOT COMPLETE: OPTIC SENSORS ONLINE> The image of Fenroar clinging to its leg only lasted for a moment as Wraith looked forward and pulled its leg back. A moment later it violently thrust it forward in a kicking motion in an attempt to remove the unwelcome passenger. Hopefully it would send him skidding across the sand and into the nearby boulder that represented the clock's two. ---------- [Turn 10] Weather: It's raining, it's pouring... ~ EN Reserves: 140 S. "Aaauuuhhh!" Fenroar was sent flying into the sand, his sprained left hand making it hard to get a good grip onto Wraith's leg from the force. However, while skidding and flipping across the ground, Fenroar unleashed his remaining electricity at Wraith, although slightly off target, instead heading towards Wraith's left arm, but Fenroar is already distance away from Wraith, thus he could possibly avoid it if he's already focused. It's slightly stronger then the weak jolts Fenroar first fired but nowhere near as powerful as the one Fenroar charged up earlier. The wet sand luckily reduced Fenroar's speed, becoming soaked. I'll definitely need a shower after this... Because of the wet sand, Fenroar ended up rolling to the boulder pretty gently, unsure how his attack went. He realizes he's now a sitting duck, all out of electricity. He shuffled around his wet and sandy pockets for a battery, feeling sore from the rolling around and a bit cut up but otherwise alright. -- Amount of electricity left: ZERO percent Left hand sprained Nearly out of stamina, will not be able to use much air powers. |

While the lightning bolt may have appeared without the slightest warning as Fenroar rolled along the wet sand, Wraith would not need to dodge it. The distance between the two was big enough to give the mech's systems time to detect and react to the incoming threat, activating its EN Field as it had done several times before. The green glow of the wall reflected off the mech's metal plating as the attack connected with it, arcing along its surface for a few moments before both it and the shield disappeared. "Looked like that one was going for my busted arm. Kid's got some wicked intuition if he knew about a weak spot on something that doesn't show pain. That is, if he intended to go for that in the first place." Marcus thought as he watched Fenroar come to a halt against a rock. Unlike Wraith, he was showing some signs of fatigue. It looked like the kid was finally reaching the bottom of his bag of tricks. Wraith slowly began to walk towards the vulnerable Fenroar. Its right hand moved to meet its left arm, grabbing a hold of one of the plasma stakes on the buckler and slowly removing it. A green light glowed between the removed cylinder and the buckler, slowly morphing into a shape that resembles the blade of a katana. Once the Plasma Blade was fully drawn it held it at its side, allowing the tip to run along the side of the boulder that represented one, leaving a glowing gash in its surface. This mostly served as a display of its capabilities more than anything. The mech came to a halt a metre away from Fenroar, after which Marcus began to speak. "You've fought a good fight so far, Fenroar. I never expected some punk arse kid to give me such a run for my money. No wonder the mechanic said I'd need some luck to come out on top," he said with a hearty chuckle. Wraith simply continued to stare down its opponent as water poured down its visor. "But it looks to me that you're just about at your limit. You're exhausted... probably hurting quite a bit too with some of the hits you've taken. Not sure about your powers, but even they must have a limit. Basically what I'm saying is... you should just forfeit. I like you, kid, so I'd rather not have to mess you up more than I have to. We can both call it a day and go laugh about this over a drink or something, my treat." Wraith stood by and watched as Marcus waited for a response. A brief cease fire for its opponent to consider the proposal just offered to him. All things considered it was a pretty raw deal, but it was more a question of how much more punishment he was willing to take before folding. He was more likely to break than Wraith was. After all, machines never tire. ---------- [Turn 11] Weather: The old man is snoring ~ (Rain) EN Reserves: 130 S. Missile Ammo: 4/5 <Left arm at critical damage!> |

Fenroar wasn't listening to Wraith though that much, having found a battery in his pocket, grasping onto it tightly while focusing on the blade Wriath pulled out. Slowly, Fenroar could feel the electricity jump-starting his body again, like he just drank an energy drink, replenishing sixty percent of his electricity. He has another battery left, but Fenroar has a feeling the battle will be over by the time he'll need to use another. Fenroar just sat there, not planning to move until Wraith does something, while pretending he's all out of options. Fenroar charges some electricity, while Wraith thinks Fenroar must be done. "Nah. I appreciate the drink offer, but... you-probably-know-who would get mad if I chose to forfeit." Fenroar showed a light smile, scratching his face. None other then Ella of course. "The battle will only be over until one of us falls unconscious." |

"Ch'eh. Knew something like that would be your answer. You're a born fighter," Marcus commented with a small chuckle. "Let's just hope what they said about those healing rooms are true!" With those words Wraith sprung into motion again, its thrusters propelling it forward a small distance as it held its sword in a thrusting position. When it was close enough it would thrust the sword towards Fenroar's midriff, aiming not to fatally wound, but to wound none the less. Besides the searing pain that would be caused by the plasma blade entering his body, it would likely cause him to start bleeding. This would either force him to quit and seek medical aid or the blood loss would eventually leave him unconscious. A barbaric tactic by any means, but it didn't look like there would be any other way to get him to drop out of the match. ---------- [Turn 12] Weather: Rain EN Reserves: 130 S. The sudden jolt through his body, as well as buying a few precious seconds sitting there, made Fenroar recover a decent amount of stamina. Of course, he'll probably overestimate how much he really has as soon as he sits up and makes some sort of move. At least Wraith didn't notice Fenroar shuffling around in his pocket for a battery, the item replenishing sixty percent of his electricity. He has one other battery left, but Fenroar has a feeling the battle will be over by the time he uses it, he realized while standing up. Wraith then charged forward at Fenroar, planning to aim his sword at Fenroar's side. Fenroar continued charging his electricity, but it isn't going to be powerful enough to finish off Wraith at the moment, especially with that shield continuing to pose problems. "Tch..." Using what little stamina he recovered, Fenroar lunged himself forward wildly with his air powers. Aside from the fact he's tired, he hasn't quite mastered the powers as well as electricity, thus he flipped uncontrollably in the air, a bit too fast. Hopefully he'll just go right between Wraith's legs as planned, but it's doubtful he can at least stab Fenroar with that plasma blade. -- Amount of electricity left: Sixty Percent Left hand sprained Dangerously close to exhaustion, will likely have to finish this up soon |

In the moment Fenroar propelled himself forward time almost seemed to slow down for Wraith as it watched him slip between its legs. With its target no longer in front of it the plasma blade slammed into the boulder instead, the area around where it entered glowing slightly from its heat. "Tch. Full of surprises, ain'tcha..." Marcus muttered as Wraith withdrew the blade from the boulder at an angle, leaving a deep glowing gash behind. The rain that fell around it evaporated and sent hissing sounds throughout the air as the mech turned around to face its opponent once more. The rain was getting noticeably lighter at this point, starting to pitter out almost as quickly as it had arrived. A good thing for Wraith, however the water that remained on its body would still make Fenroar's electric attacks that bit more dangerous for a while after. Unless of course it found a way to dry itself off. But that wasn't the matter currently at hand. After a short pause Wraith leapt up into the air at a backwards angle as it had previously to initiate the Gespenst Kick. However this time its plan was a little different. At the apex of its jump it angled its body down towards the area Fenroar was in and flung its arms out. Right on cue a pair of Split Missile pods launched from behind it and straight down towards him. Due to the smaller gap and the angle the spread wouldn't be as wide as before, being only about 5 metres in diameter at the most, but that would also mean the blasts would be more concentrated than before. If Fenroar was caught among them he would most likely be hit by multiple explosions. With his lack of armour that would potentially lead to a lot of damage for his body. Something he'd probably want to avoid. With the missiles launched Wraith began to descend. It would land a little after the missiles detonated, watching the result from roughly ten metres away with its plasma blade at the ready. ---------- [Turn 13] Weather: Rain getting lighter, will end next turn EN Reserves: 130 S. ((Heh, guess you win this, Ludi. Congrats.)) -- Fenroar simply got up slowly and stood there. Although he did take Wraith by surprise, the mech simply regained himself by flying in the air and firing a barrage of missiles at him, something Fenroar knows he won't be able to avoid. Wraith landed too far away for Fenroar to unleash his electricity so chances are he'll likely see it coming, activating his barrier as well. "Well, good match, Wraith," Fenroar said, knowing he probably can't hear him. The explosions consumed him in fiery waves, disappearing from Wraith's sight in the smoke. It's like the mech was designed to specifically handle me in this tournament, with that barrier and all. Fenroar only felt extreme pain before falling unconscious from the explosions and burns. When the smoke cleared, Fenroar is on the floor with rather bad burns, bits of his clothes burnt off, unconscious, although he had a smile on his face still. |

((Wait, what? I'm honestly surprised by this outcome. Especially considering how you demolished Crusader and the weather conditions. Guess that EN Field really saved my hide. It's been a fun match though, Fen! Thanks for putting up such a good fight. Most fun I've had role playing in a while. ^^)) ---------- Wraith watched silently as the smoke cleared to reveal the badly charred Fenroar. It stood down the moment it saw this, sheathing the plasma blade and returning the stake to its spot within its buckler. The last few drops of rain fell on the battlefield as it started to walk towards its opponent, the clouds above parting to reveal the moon's soft glow. It was almost as if the elements themselves knew the fighting was over. "Agh... maybe I put a little too much into that last one. Look at ya..." Marcus mumbled as Wraith came to a stop beside Fenroar. Despite how badly he had been burnt he was still smiling. The kid really was a fighter a heart. The mech slowly lowered itself and slid its arms under his body carefully, hoisting him up as it started to walk towards the gate it entered from. "But I did tell you to quit while you were ahead, kid. Still, it was the best fight I've had since... well, it doesn't matter too much. Let's just get you patched up." Wraith soon exited the arena with Fenroar in its arms, silence falling falling over the battleground once more. However the signs of their battle remained, just as those of the fierce battles held in ancient times had before them. But that was all any warrior could really hope for: To make their mark on the battlefield. [=SB= Tournament VI: Match K] END |
