Vanity's Falcron. That was the name he was informed the arena his next match was taking place in. Wraith hadn't even had time to return to the lobby to get repairs and resupply before being shunted off to another fight. But that wasn't what was bothering Marcus about this. In fact it was a non-issue due to the events that had unfolded in the last match.

Upon his arrival in the last arena, his opponent collapsed for reasons completely unknown to him. It was bizarre. As far as Marcus could tell the... thing was ready to go. But just like that it conked out. Be it from over exerting itself prior to the match or sheer nervousness, it resulted in a victory by default for Wraith. A win may be a win, but that didn't mean Marcus approved of it.

It was still dark in the arena when the mech arrived. Entering from the east it made its way towards the center of the sizeable arena with little issues. Its optical sensors provided it with slightly above average night vision, but it was only enough to help it avoid nearby obstacles. If it had to track a moving target in these conditions it would be another story.

Taking its position on one side of the concrete in the center the mech stood silently. Almost as if on cue, the sun began to rise behind it. A huge shadow stretched across the 'clock's' face as the light shined off its armor plating. To any walking towards it at this moment it would appear as a silhouette, only the red visor visible as it glowed dimly.

The light offered Wraith a clearer view of the arena it was in and the type of environment it would have to work around. Sand covered most of this ruined battlefield, the breeze blowing through causing some of the grains to dance along the ground. It was obvious that time had not been kind to the structures here. Signs of battle were present in the form of broken down walls that only provided minimal cover at this point. Whether the damage was from an earlier round or some ancient battle he couldn't say. Judging by the rate at which the sun was rising behind Wraith time flowed differently in this arena too. Considering some of the things he had witnessed in this tournament Marcus wasn't all that surprised.

Then there was the matter of his opponent: Fenroar Strauss. They had met earlier in the lobby, but besides the fact that he was a fairly friendly person he had nothing on him. Some assumptions could be made about his fighting style: He has a sword, so he must be a melee focused fighter. If it came down to a sword fight Marcus was confident that he could win, after all that was what the Wraith was built around. The arena didn't look like it would work too much against him, being fairly open with only some minor obstructions. Nothing like fog to worry about either. Though knowing his luck a sandstorm would kick up at some point.

With his initial analysis of the arena and what little data he had on Fenroar concluded, all that was left was to wait for his opponent to show.

So I'm going to be facing Wraith. Hmm. I can't say I have faced a mech before. Not sure how to tackle this, Fenroar thought to himself, as he made his way into the arena. He entered from the west side of the arena, with the mech in clear sight.

"Greetings, Marcus. Or Wraith. Whatever you prefer," Fenroar called out, wind blowing around them. Hmm. I'm assuming electricity has to keep him in operation, thus I could end this quickly if I can just get on him... but...

I can't take in more electricity then I chew. If I go over the limit, then I'll be hurting myself as well. Overcharging they call it. I could actually.... blow up. So it won't be that easy.

"Heh, I suppose both are right," the gruff voice replied rather cryptically as the mech slammed its fists together. "Good to see you again, kid. Though I'll admit I never thought I'd meet you out here. But that's enough of the pre-battle banter, time to let our fists do the talking!"

Wraith's movement systems roared into action, lifting it a small way off the ground as it began to charge its opponent. The thin layer of sand on the concrete blew around and danced as the mech quickly closed the gap. Its right fist was drawn back as it prepared to take a swing at Fenroar. When it was within range it would attempt to land a solid right hook to on his side, hoping to wind him and perhaps open up an opportunity for a secondary attack.

Hit or miss, its momentum would keep it going a small distance past where its target once stood. With that small gap between them there was a chance Wraith could turn around and prepare itself for a counter-attack if one was headed its way. Or at least that was the plan.

"Whoa!" Fenroar was slightly panicked into his next move. Wraith must be planning to go all-out already. Not a surprise though, the fact the two talked to each other probably means he knows Fenroar will be a hard opponent. Fenroar burst into the air using his wind, but he flipped wildly into the air, not exactly what he intended, but he at least avoided Wraith's strike.

Not sure what this will do exactly, but I guess I'll find out now! Fenroar had the palm of his hands pointed at the mech, before two bolts of electricity were fired at Wraith. They weren't charged, so they aren't that powerful, but Fenroar has no clue if Wraith has any defense against electrical based attacks. If it doesn't do anything at all, then that could be some trouble as he's wide open in the air right now.

While observing and analysing an opponent was Wraith's usual strategy, all that got in the last match it fought was a time out. This time it'd have to keep the offensive up and figure out how Fenroar fought in the process. With any luck the pressure would cause him to slip up and reveal his hand early.

And sure enough it did.

As Fenroar flipped into the air to evade the metal fist headed his way, Wraith continued for a few metres before turning 180 degrees. Sand was kicked up by its thrusters as it came to a halt to face its opponent. Just in time to see the hand held out in its direction as a flash of lighting shot out towards it. Reacting to the electrical charge in the air Wraith's EN Field fired up, the wall of green energy projected in front of the mech stopping the attack in its tracks. The bolts of lightning danced along its surface for a few seconds before they dissipated along with the barrier.

"So electrokinetic, huh? What is with this tournament and fighters that can control the elements?" Marcus thought to himself as he watched Fenroar flip through the air. If Wraith was going to get a counter-attack in it would have to do it now or wait for another chance. It had two options: Leap up after him or fire some Split Missiles and hope they hit their mark.

Thinking it best to not reveal all its tricks right away, Wraith went for the former option as it leaped from the ground in pursuit of Fenroar. It didn't have much in the way of aerial manoeuvrability but with any luck it wouldn't need it. As it approached it raised its arms above its head and locked its hands together in a hammer position, planning to bring them crashing down on top of its target.

The impact should have enough force to knock him down to the ground below if it hits. If not, the mech would be left open for a brief window as it made its descent once more. Aerial combat was far from Wraith's speciality so landing moves in mid-air was always a gamble. Hopefully this one paid off.

"Shit! Shit! Fly!" Fenroar shouted, attempting to once again use his air powers to fly away. However, he hasn't quite mastered his air powers as well as his electric powers, which apparently did nothing after Fenroar saw a plasma green wall shield Wraith. The attack hit Fenroar, who then tried to at least soften the landing with his air powers, thought that didn't do much. He crashed into the ground, a puff of sand engulfing him.

Ouch. I think that was the first time I got hurt in this tournament, Fenroar said, coughing from the sand a bit. However, he used this chance to immediately dart out into the darkness, as it was still a bit dark out, only a dim light. He hid behind a broken wall, trying to think of a plan. Guess I'll just get on the mech.

Shortly after Fenroar made contact with the sand, Wraith landed near the edge of the concrete with a loud thud. The weight of the impact caused light fractures to appear along the surface of the ancient structure. Almost as if to confirm just how heavy its body was compared to an average person. One could only imagine how hard that hit must have felt.

"I hope I didn't break some bones or something, kid." Marcus said with a bit of a laugh as he looked for his opponent... yet he wasn't anywhere to be found. The light pouring in from the edge of the arena shone almost directly in the mech's visor, partially obscuring anything within the shadows. It was rising quickly, but not quick enough to make spotting its opponent any easier. The only sign of him was the small dint his impact left in the sand. Annoyingly enough, there were no footprints to lead the mech to him... or at least none that it could see in this light.

"Hm... he's got to be hiding in there somewhere... well, no point letting up on the offensive now. We'll just have to smoke him out."

As Marcus spoke those words Wraith threw its arms out, a pair of pods launching from its back and towards the darkness. When they were about 15 meters away they broke open, unleashing a payload of smaller missiles which spread randomly over a 10 metre radius. Upon impact with the ground, or anything else, each would detonate with a blast radius of 1-2 metres.

Since the Wraith was firing blind there was no guarantee it would land a hit, but if they managed to get its foe out of hiding then that would be good enough. Though dealing some damage would certainly be a welcome bonus.

He's far more aggressive then my last couple opponents! Fenroar could hear the missile pods disengage themselves from Wraith's metal self, which then dispersed into several different rockets. Fenroar quickly moved, using his wind powers again. He was planning to steathily attack the mech like his battle with Claru Dante, but attacks like Wraith's are so far preventing that. Guess he'll have to be aggressive too.

Go! Go! Go! Fenroar sped forward, as tinier missiles exploded around him. He groaned though from the pain of his left hand. His wind powers might have prevented him breaking it, but the way Fenroar landed likely sprained it somewhat, which could limit his use of the Genesis Sword. Like it mattered though anyway. How is he going to fight a large mech with a sword?

Fenroar quietly swore to himself, after barely dodging one of Wraith's missiles behind him. The force sent him flying forward, but at least Fenroar can make out the large Wraith in this darkness. He uses the momentum to launch himself towards Wraith, firing a fury of electricity as well, several bolts coming out of his body towards the mech.

Each explosion was accompanied by a pillar of sand that flew up into the air for a brief moment before falling back down. It was almost like watching one of those fountains where water randomly squirted out from holes in the ground. The darkness was partially lit up for the smallest of moments with each one, offering Wraith a slightly better view of what was in there. Sure enough, its target could be seen running among the explosions. It looked like Fenroar was done playing defence.

"Gotcha."

The mech stood still as its opponent approached. However if one was watching closely they would notice the three plasma stakes on its left buckler starting to glow a faint blue colour. They hummed slightly as more plasma energy was stored within them. Wraith raised its arm in preparation to charge Fenroar once more.

However, what came next took it by surprise. Using the force of one of the explosions to propel himself forward Fenroar quickly closed the gap. Once again the electrokinetic fighter unleashed bolts in the mech's direction, this time a little faster than it could react to. The EN Field fired up as it did the first time, but not before a few stray bolts slipped through and clipped Wraith's right arm. A warning flashed up on its flickering display as the electricity danced along its armour plating before dissipating. While strong enough for the mech's systems to take note of, it hadn't hindered the arm's usability any. However if the barrier hadn't blocked part of the attack who knows how bad the damage could have been.

"Not bad, kid. I'll be in trouble if he lands something with full power. But I can probably live without an arm if it comes to that." Marcus thought as the barrier dissipated. This was Wraith's time to attack.

The mech's movement systems roared into action as it charged towards the fast approaching Fenroar. The plasma stakes glowed brightly as it drew its left arm back in preparation to unleash an attack. No doubt one that would hurt much more than the last one it dished out.

"Let's see if you can stop this fist! Roar, Jet Magnum!"

Wraith thrust the plasma stakes on its arm towards Fenroar's chest. If successful it would discharge the energy it had stored up within them. The resulting force would be strong enough to send him flying back a fair distance in the form of knock back. Not necessarily far enough for him to crash into anything, but the attack on its own would hurt enough. If not, it would simply be a waste of energy.

Regardless of the result, Wraith would slow its charge after executing the attack, stopping a few metres away from the point of contact.

((I wouldn't imagine it'd be that dark. Given the fast day and night cycle in this arena I figure we're approaching what would be around mid-late morning at this point. But I'm personally willing to roll with it. Certainly paints a cooler looking picture in my mind~))

"Ah, damn it," Fenroar said, seeing him once again pull his arm back after the mech's dumb barrier blocked his electricity, although it did seem to clip his arm a bit. At least his reaction confirms that he won't be immune to electricity if past the barrier.

In his own reaction though, Fenroar unleashed another fury of lightning bolts straight at Wraith, actually at his arm, to see if it will stop his attack any, with Fenroar being hurled still straight at Wraith from the momentum. If lucky, it will force him to cancel his attack and Fenroar can latch himself onto Wraith's arm. If not, then he'll likely be sent flying. Or at least, maybe the electricity can slow down his attack some.

The gap between the two was so small that Wraith did not have time to move itself out of the way. With the Jet Magnum in effect, the EN Field wasn't going to fire up either. It looked like it was taking this attack.

But that wouldn't stop it.

Fenroar's attack landed a direct hit on the mech's left arm, sending electricity coursing through it. The shock was so great that some of the energy stored in the plasma stakes was discharged early, leaving the attack at only half strength. But that would be enough. Despite having its vision obscured as its visuals flickered Wraith charged forward, slamming the tips of the plasma stakes into Fenroar's midriff.

"Rrrrraaaagh!"

What remained of the built up energy released at the tips as Wraith twisted its fist, a bright blue burst of energy pushing Fenroar away. With the attack weakened the way it was it would have hurt a notch or two more than a regular punch from the mech, and the knock back would only be about 10-15 metres or so as its opponent slid through the sand.

With the attack delivered successfully Wraith came to a halt in the sand. Its left arm was still sparking slightly from Fenroar's surge of electricity, but all systems indicated it was still usable as the mech moved it about. Be it because of Fenroar's electricity on its own or because of the combined strain it presented while charging the Jet Magnum, its systems indicated that it was operating at fifty percent capacity. Another strong jolt like that would most likely result in the arm shutting down for the rest of the match. It was something it would have to avoid.

"Hm... maybe I underestimated him. No wonder he's made it this far in the tournament." Marcus thought as Wraith stood by. It watched its opponent carefully to see both how effective its attack had been and to figure out what his next move would be. Charging in for a follow-up attack could very well result in another point blank lightning strike. That was something the mech couldn't afford.

While the sun now lit up a decent portion of the arena it didn't stay that way for long. Dark clouds started to roll in and blanket the sky of the arena. Something Wraith took note of. Clouds like that usually meant rain, and rain was something that could potentially aid a user of the lightning. You know what they say about water and electricity.

"This could be bad. I should wrap this up before the arena decides to turn on me..."

((I'm not sure if the stakes struck me like you imagined it, so I dunno if I got it right.))

"Nngh!" Fenroar moaned, grunting from pain, feeling the stakes painfully push itself against his body before a small explosive force emerged from the cannon-like stake, the force sending Fenroar skidding along the sand, knocking him back but feeling like the wind was knocked out of him. He tried to brace himself, but it didn't seem to do much. Fenroar eventually landed a short few feet away, slowly picking himself up, as the clouds got darker above him.

Good. This should shift things a bit, Fenroar thought, noticing the dark clouds, which usually leads to rain. Surely his machinery won't do well with electricity and being wet. Fenroar began charging electricity, planning to unleash an even stronger attack at Wraith, before using his wind powers to dash towards Wraith at an impressive speed, hoping he can make it, though his legs are a bit wobbly. Come on, don't fail on me now.

Wraith's movement systems fired up in response to the fast approaching Fenroar, propelling it backwards and away from him.

"Where'd this extra speed come from? I guess he's aware of what's coming up next... just peachy."

While it was able to keep its distance for now it probably wouldn't stay that way for long. Whatever was giving his opponent a boost in speed was allowing him to close the gap. But that didn't mean the mech would just sit there and take it. As it passed by the set of stones that represented eight and ten on the 'clock' Wraith broke off to the left, starting to strafe around the circle clockwise. Hopefully Fenroar wouldn't be able to maintain that speed while having to change directions. That would give it enough space to plan its next move.

Rain slowly started to fall on the battlefield, at first pattering down gently, but it would soon be pouring down heavily. The conditions were quickly turning against Wraith. Hopefully they wouldn't be the nail in its coffin.

Fenroar smiled as it began raining, his hat feeling wet on his head, and it seems it's only go to rain harder. This will only make things better. Even if his lightning misses, the surrounding static would only be enhanced by the rain, the rain causing more attraction from the lightning, thus Wraith's chances of now winning this battle is slowly dwindling away. It doesn't help that he's also letting Fenroar charge his electricity, which Fenroar can unleash from anywhere on his body, making it highly dangerous to approach Fenroar in close combat.

Wraith however quickly turned towards his left, but that will only briefly slow down Fenroar, all the while he is still charging his electricity. However, his legs are starting to feel soar, his mastery over wind taxing a bit on his body. Thus, he won't be able to run forever. Fenroar skidded to stop himself against the rocks Wraith went by, briefly stopping, before pushing himself off the rock before dashing once more at Wraith, who is more then likely close enough to be hit by Fenroar's charged attack even if he runs away again. His charged attack will be much more powerful then the ones Fenroar used before, so Wraith may now be a cornered like a rat while the rain starts to feel heavier.

Despite its efforts to shake him, Fenroar persisted. Of course it wouldn't be that simple. Unfortunately with him getting so close there wasn't a whole lot of options Wraith could take. Charging in for an attack would likely result in another shock, while Split Missiles would just whiz past if fired at him. That left it with one other option besides getting hit. It was risky, but at this point what choice did it have?

Wraith came to a halt before jumping into the air, flipping backwards while moving into a kicking position with its right foot forward. With any luck Fenroar's momentum would keep him moving just far enough to pass under the mech and into the ideal attack range.

"It's do or die! Behold the power of the Gespenst Kick!"

The mech propelled itself down towards Fenroar, or at least the spot it guessed he would be if he continued on the intended path, not unlike a meteor crashing towards the earth. Its foot glowed slightly as it cut a path through the rain, some of it dissipating as steam from the heat produced. If this hit it was going to hurt, most likely resulting in Fenroar being pushed down into the sand under its weight. Either way, there would be a lot of sand flying up around Wraith when it made contact with the ground, perhaps forming some cracks in whatever solid surface might be buried underneath.
