What sonic game did you think have the worst gameplay mechanic? Secret Rings is probably the worst for me...

....
But yeah, Sonic 06.
Falling through floors and walking on the ceiling does not make for good game design.

Sonic 06 wins.

On the town with the warehouse and the train station, if you fire a light gem towards a building, you are sent way upwards, if you can surpass the building roof, you can go inside as the roof does not exist as a barrier, only as detail, not to mention other glitches.

... Are we discussing glitchy Sonic games and game mechanics or just bad game mechanics?

If we're talking regular bad, I point to the way that the light speed/ring dash had to be charged up in the original Sonic Adventure. It really broke the whole speediness of the game. I also point to the vehicles in Shadow the Hedgehog, because, while they worked pretty well, they were a relatively pointless gameplay mechanic that got neglected a lot.

Of course, if we're talking broken/glitchy, Sonic '06 gives us a plethora of examples. An example elsewhere is probably the jumping between rails mechanic in Sonic Heroes; it's so easy to mess up, I think it's fair to say they're broken and glitched.

Here's one most people would probably overlook unless it was mentioned.

Remember how most Trap moves in Sonic Battle were basically landmines that completely screwed over your opponent if they ran over them? You could even detonate them prematurely by placing down another trap, which could catch opponents off-guard if they were trying to avoid them. Weren't Trap moves awesome?

Now try to remember Rouge's and Shadow's Trap moves. In Rouge's case, it was a heart-shaped bomb that floated in the air. In Shadow's case, it was a ball of Chaos energy (or something) that floated in the air.

KEY WORDS: 'Floated in the air'. Which meant that opponents would actually pass through them if they ran into them because lolcollisionphysics. The only way to trigger those traps is if the opponent collided with them while they too were airborne.

Consider how difficult it was to maneuver your opponent into just the right position that your attack combo would knock them into the trap. Consider how difficult it was to aim at the trap due to the isometric view. Consider how outright useless the Air Trap was due to the fact that opponents could rarely ever be knocked that high up.

Worst Trap moves in the game. At least their Power and Shot moves made up for it.

Good vibes.
The missions system of Shadow the Hedgehog.

But I don't wanna kill all aliens/artificial chaos/humans/robots/goldfish!

Also, the treasure hunting in SA1 and SA2. Just... Just why?

Speaking of the Adventure series, fishing.

Yep.
Eh, i actually enjoyed SA1's treasure hunting stages since they were pretty simple and fun to do. SA2's though were just terrible..the levels were huge like hell, the radar only showed one emerald piece at a time, and the hints were getting pretty tedious.

Never played Sonic '06 so I can't comment.

I never finished Secret Rings due to the awful control scheme. Black Knight was an improvement, but it's the only Wii game I find myself taking periodic breaks from as the constant shaking of the Wiimote for sword strokes hurts my wrist.

The Sonic Adventure series suffers badly from glitches. There are times where you just randomly fall through floors and sometimes the camera becomes stuck at a really bad angle so you can't see what you're doing. I found SA2 to be more guilty of this than SA1.

Apart from Sonic '06 which is an obvious answer, I hated the treasure hunting stages on SA1 and SA2, especially on SA2. I just thought that they were boring and tedious.

I haven't played all of the treasure hunting stages in SA2 as of yet (Still need to buy the game through Steam or the Playstation Store), but the size and the hint system didn't bother me when I played. The size added a lot of exploration, which is actually something I really enjoyed. Though, granted, the "You must gather them in this order" radar was a pretty bad gameplay mechanic.

Definitely Secret Rings for me. Thank god Black Knight improved upon a shitty control scheme and made it playable.

^ Don't think I ever got up to any part where I was required to grind. :P

In fact grinding is something I don't like in any Sonic game as I find it to be unreliable, especially if you're presented with it at a bad camera angle. I swear there have been moments in Sonic Heroes, for example, where a character just falls through a grinding rail. In fact, it's because of that I now always approach a grinding rail in flight formation. If I ever fall off, I might have a chance of flying back on. Might slow down my progress, but it's better than restarting to the last check point.
