Shadow wasted no time to reply. The end was just up another corridor. He waited until the platform was close enough, and then in a giant bound he leapt from the shore onto the little platform, and without losing his momentum, he took another bound and landed on the other side right behind Sonic. From there, he caught the other of the two platforms and rode it to the top, where he rolled downhill, neck-and-neck with Sonic. As they both neared the end, shadow boosted into an orangeish-lilac fireball to the sign at the end. Suddenly they were both knocked backward by a blast of firey tongues that lashed out at them. A feminine cat figure stepped out from them, and pointed at them both accusingly. "Alright. I demand to know which of you has a Sol emerald." she said, with fury in her eyes. Sonic and Shadow looked at each other confusedly.

"But it's going to be--" He was cut off as a fireball and was quickly knocked backwards. After quickly recovering he looked ahead to see a purple cat, her hands ablaze. She had a look in her eyes that would make anyone shake for a moment, well, except for Sonic. "...a whosawhatsit emerald?" He looked at Shadow with a confused look. "Um, I don't know whatever that is, but we have chaos emeralds. If that helps." He smiled nervously.

"You know precisely what a Sol emerald is, Sonic." The cat narrowed her eyes at the hedgehog. "Perhaps this black hedgehog may not, but you certainly do." Shadow stood up and dusted off his gloves "You've interrupted our race with your unnecessary quest, feline. Stand aside. It's pointless now." The violent violet cat flung a fiery whip out at Shadow, stopping him in place. "Fool. Don't try my patience. One of you has it. You were giving off the energy of a Sol emerald. . If you do not have it then why is this so?" "Is this some kind of game?" Shadow scoffed. "I don't know about these 'Sol Emeralds' you speak of. I do not concern myself with them so I'm hardly worth your time. However the blue hedgehog might know something about them. ." With that he walked ahead of the ferocious feline, only to be met by a spinning tornado of fire. "Do you know who you are dealing with?! I am Princess Blaze of the Sol Dimension! I demand the Sol Emerald! . . Or I demand your life." Shadow glanced over at Sonic and then back to Blaze"A princess huh? Well then, Princess. Perhaps you don't know who I am. I am Shadow the Hedgehog, the ultimate life form. That is Sonic the hedgehog. I would say perhaps that he was the fastest thing on the planet, but since you interrupted our race, I don't know the true answer. Either way, it seems you don't know who WE are, Blaze." He threw another glance at Sonic seeming to say "Let's do this."
