Fish had lost many great friends and companions that day, in a war that seemed to drag on forever. He sat slumped down on the staircase of the mansion, his suit and Void Manipulator still bloodied by the blood of his friends. He was alone now, and was ready for the next mental regeneration to come and wash all of his good traits away replacing himself with someone of a more sinister persuasion. This had only happened to Fish once in his life, he was once called Vavian and was a stranger from a distant planet that was to be feared. He was of course the only one of his species since his species reproduced asexually on their death bed. He would have to go back to his planet once more to regenerate, and hopefully the sun wouldn't fry his technology this time and leave him there stranded until death. Fish sighed and left the mansion and stepped out into the Alternian sun and set the coordinates for his Void Manipulator so it would take him to some random planet. He wasn't ready to go back, not yet anyway. Time and space had never caught up with him, he could back in time and have tea with his companions. Alas, that would never happen, he could never live with himself if he replaced his real friends with carbon time copies. He needed a fresh start, a new change of scenery, so he set the coordinates and teleported to a new planet. None of which he had ever seen before. |

Alana sat down and gazed solemnly into her ocean. She sighed as she poked her reflection in the water, watching it ripple. Her pet turtle Kaysium looked up at her and snuggled her in attempt to cheer her up. "I wish I could just talk to someone." Alana thought as she got up to walk around. She picked up Kaysium and held him close. "I feel like you are the only one who understands." Alana started to walk around until she got to her garden. Once there, she saw a large flash of light. "Gah!" she shrieked as she shielded Kaysium and her eyes and fell back. "Ungh." she groaned. "Kay? Are you alright?" Alana asked. Kaysium looked up at her and nodded. Alana then took a glance at the light that caught her by surprise. "I wonder what that is." she thought to herself. |

Fish arrived on an island or continent of some sort, that at first seemed abandoned. "Oh great," Fish sighed, "I had hoped I would arrive somewhere with civilization." There was however a vast ocean that he gazed upon, watching his reflection. He sighed, no wonder people always treated him the way they did. He was a freak of nature, an impossible object. He had no eyes or ears, which usually left people wondering how he saw. However, using the slight telepathy that he used as a replacement for the other senses that most species had, he could see fairly well. Perhaps even better than some species. Fish lifted his head and gazed off into the distance where he saw a humanoid lifeform that seemed surprised and slighty dazed. "Eh, at least there's someone here." Fish examined. He put his eyes on the ground and then looked back up at humanoid, it wasn't what he was expecting, but at least he had someone to spend the last few hours that he had living as a kind but slightly insane traveler. What lay ahead of him still remained a mystery, and he had no idea how he would decide to call himself after his mental regeneration, but he could already feel the appeal of the name Fish slipping away. Alana slowly got back up on her feet and stared at the figure before her. She held Kaysium and asked "What do you think that is?" She stared at the figure for a few more minutes before gathering the small bit of courage she had to approach it. Kaysium saw what his owner was going to do and clicked loudly in protest. Alana glanced at her distressed friend and pet him to soothe him. However, that was in vain. Kaysium began to click even louder while he squirmed in her arms, in attempt to move her in the opposite direction. Although that didn't turn Alana around, it did slow her down. "Whatever might be troubling you Kay?" Alana asked her uncomfortable friend. Kaysium looked up at her with worried eyes in response. "Oh Kay, I know you might be worried of me, but I'd be more worried if I didn't know what that thing was, than if I did." With that, Alana gently rocked Kaysium and pet him to soothe him. "I need to find out what that thing is." Alana thought to herself as she walked even closer to the figure. She reached into her pocket to take out a piece of coral and got even more apprehensive with ever step she took. "I am so terrified!" she thought to herself. "But I can't turn back now." |

Fish saw the humanoid beginning to approach him, so he prepared himself to be rejected when she saw his face, and how pale his body was. He didn't often look at his reflection, but when he did he understood why people automatically hated him for his appearance. Fish wasn't a monster, just a stranger from another world. Being able to travel the cosmos was both a blessing and a curse at times. He wasn't stuck on his planet, left alone, but the people that he surrounded himself with still hated him when they saw him. He had to work to get people to like him, and that's why losing all of his friends was so devastating. Fish had lost everyone that he worked so hard to get to love and appreciate him, and he would have to convince this person of his good intentions as well. After contemplating his old friends, the stranger who was approaching him, and fighting the overwhelming sadness that distracted his telepathy he decided to begin walking towards the stranger. Who was this person, and what they would think of him were still a mystery in his mind. Perhaps he wouldn't have to be alone in the few hours before he became a completely different person. "Don't worry," Fish shouted over to the figure, "I don't mean any harm!" |

"Ahh!" Alana shrieked as she fell to the floor in shock. Kaysuim jumped up and hissed at the person. "Kay stand down!" Alana said as she slowly got back up. Alana walked even closer the figure and looked at his features. The first thing she noticed was his lack of eyes or ears. Then she noticed his odd skin tone. "He's so peculiar. But why does his looks calm me and not scare me?" Alana gently touches the figure's face. Kaysium clicked in apprehension, but he did not try to stop her. Alana them mustered up the courage to speak to the figure. "U-um, h-h-hello there!" she waved excitedly. "I'm Alana, a-and I am t-the p-p-priestess of this vast Water land." Kaysuim stood by Alana defensively. "W-w-who might you be?" |

Fish was now able to see her facial features, since they were up close. The thing, whatever it was, was clearly a woman. As Fish anticipated, she shrieked when she saw Fish. Her turtle jumped up and hissed at Fish, but the person was kind enough to tell it to stop. It was going better than Fish anticipated, and the woman gently touched his face. It was a bit strange since nobody had ever done that to him before, especially since she clearly noticed his lack of facial features besides for his mouth. However, Fish did not object to her touching his face. After getting accustomed to Fish's appearance she introduced herself. "U-um, h-h-hello there! The woman said and waved excitedly. Fish grinned, but kept his mouth shut to make sure she didn't notice his incredibly sharp fangs. "Hey," Fish responded, "You alright?" "I'm Alana, a-and I am t-the p-p-priestess of this vast Water land." "W-w-who might you be?" "Hey, kind priestess." Fish waved to Alana. "I'm just a traveler, sorry to catch you off guard. I don't mean any harm, just looking for some company. Something's going to happen, and I need to be comforted before it happens." |

"Oh! A traveller? T-t-that is p-pretty neat." Alana shyly said as she picked up Kaysium. "I wish I c-c-could t-travel. My f-family never seems to a-approve. I w-want to escape and see a-all there is t-t-to see!" she said excitedly before she regained her composure and looked down at her feet. "Um ... s-sorry about that." Kaysium then nuzzled Alana and motioned her to continue. "Oh! You said t-that something is g-g-going to happen! Do you k-know w-w-what it is? And if y-you need company, m-may I come w-with you?" Kaysium then clicked in protest. Alana carried him and said soothingly "Kay I have to do this. This may be the only chance I get to truly be free! Please allow this for me." |

My f-family never seems to a-approve. I w-want to escape and see a-all there is t-t-to see!" "That's unfortunate, I'd like to have someone with me before..." Fish then stared down at his feet as he stopped speaking, "I don't want to talk about what's happening or rather, going to happen." "Um ... s-sorry about that." "Nothing to be sorry about, my dear." Fish assured Alana. It seemed like she had been put under a lot of pressure to Fish. "Are you alright?" "Oh! You said t-that something is g-g-going to happen! Do you k-know w-w-what it is? And if y-you need company, m-may I come w-with you?" "I know what's happening, it's just too difficult to explain. I'm just going to go through a lot of changes, and when they're done the only thing that will remain the same is my face. I'll remember things, but I won't be the same person." Fish explained to Alana, "I really need someone to come traveling with me before it happens, I need some company before the changes happen. However, I need to drop you back off before I change. I don't want to put you at risk." |

Alana listened carefully to everything Fish had to say. For some reason, she felt empathy towards him. "I r-really wish y-y-you didn't have to go t-through such b-bad things." Alana then placed Kaysium on her head as she cupped Fish's face with her hands. "You s-seem like a very k-kind person, s-so if you'd like, I w-would love to travel w-w-with you. I w-will stay with y-you no matter what. B-but only if you a-allow i-i-it. M-my parents are v-very strict s-so we w-w-will have to sneak out a-and quickly too." she stated with fear in her voice. Kaysium stomped around in protest. He then began to click loudly. "Kay I know you're upset and I know my parents won't like this, but I have to help! I-I can't just leave him on his own!" Alana said in attempt to persuade him. Kaysium didn't seem to budge and still clicked and stomped in protest. "Kay." Alana whispered to her turtle, "Maybe his quest won't take so long! I can help him with what he needs and make it back before my parents return! That way I can help him, and not get into any trouble. So please let me do this." With that, Kaysium stopped protesting but still had a look of fear and worry on his face. However, Alana had a look of subtle determination as she turned to Fish and said: "I w-will come with you!" "It's the only way that my species lives on, I'm the only one. I'm responsible for representing what should be an entire nation. Of course I'll allow you to travel with me, but you're not coming with me to my hypothetical death bed. When the mental regeneration happens, the Fish you know will be dead. Oh, and you shouldn't worry about getting away quickly, I'll take care of everything." Fish hadn't expected for her to agree to go just like that, it seemed like something was drawing them together. Because this definitely hadn't happened before, he'd been hit by brooms, threatened, and screamed at just for trying to speak to people. It was fine and it was expected, but when it happened it still hurt. "I w-will come with you!" "Excellent. Now if you're ready, take my hand. Don't let go until we reach our destination or you will be lost forever." Fish instructed Alana as he held his hand out to her. With the other he set his Void Manipulator to take himself and Alana to his home planet. He knew the sun would still be blocked out, so he didn't have to worry about not being able to sense things. Fish just had to worry about the extreme cold, he could survive it but he wasn't so sure about Alana. "Next stop, my death bed!" Edited by Juice, Feb 24 2013, 10:35 AM.

Fish extended his hand out to Alana but she was hesitant. This would be the first time she had ever defied her parents. She glanced out at the kingdom once more before she prepared to head off. Kaysium, in extreme fear, closed his eyes and jumped off into the waters below them. "Kay, where are you going!?" Alana said in worry. Kaysium looked at her and then swam off. "Kay! Please don't leave! We have to help him!" However, Kaysium just swam on. Alana stepped to follow Kay but then she saw Fish's hand waiting for her's. "I have to help him." she thought to herself. She then placed her hand in his own delicately and looked at him with a soothing smile. "I will help you e-every step of t-the way!" |

"I will help you e-every step of t-the way!" "Alright then, let's go." Fish responded as he flipped a switch on his Void Manipulator labeled, "Spacial Jump." Suddenly the duo were on the surface of Fish's planet, but it wasn't the desert like exterior that he once knew. The hills of beige and tan were covered in ice and snow, and the bright lights that once surrounded the planet's atmosphere were now covered by a large icy dome covering most of the planet. The caves were still open, luckily enough, and Fish could identify the one in which he began. It was only a legend that the Jambar reproduced asexually, for all he knew he could have been the only one that ever existed. If that were true though, he would have written the legends and it would have been something he remembered. Although Fish was immune to cold he didn't think Alana would be, "How you holding up so far?" Fish asked Alana, "It is pretty cold." He added. "Let's go make a fire in that cave," Fish instructed Alana as he pointed at the cave that he once made his home in. "I won't change for a couple more hours or so, the least I can do is make you feel comfortable." |

Alana sat and watched Fish set up the fire sighed sadly. 'Why does he have to go through this? There has to be a way I can stop the transformation.' she thought to herself. She then stared at her feet as she tucked them into her dress for warmth. She proceeded to think of ways to help Fish but was suddenly interrupted by her choking. "Gah!! *coughs* P-p-please! AHH!!" Alana shrieked as she panicked. Being a Aquatian, she needed water to live, but the water in which she carries when she was not immersed in water was starting to freeze and her gills could no longer absorb the oxygen it provided. "G-gah!!" Alana gasped as she fell to the floor. |

"Gah!! *coughs* P-p-please! AHH!!" Fish quickly turned around to look at Alana with urgency, and it was clear to him that she was out of water and required it to live. "Ah, let's see here, water, water, water." Fish said as he glanced around at his surroundings, but finally he looked down toward the ground and punched a fairly large hole in the ice. Suddenly all the surrounding ice broke into pieces as his blow unleashed a large ocean underneath the surface. Fish quickly sprinted over to Alana and threw her body in the water, "Might be a bit cold, my dear." Fish informed her. Fish then proceeded to jump over to a large piece of ice and sit down on it, and hang his head in relief as he let out a large sigh. "I'll tell you a story, that is if you want to hear an old man's tales," Fish breathed out as he searched around for Alana. "Come over here, dear." Fish instructed her, "I can't see you while you're that far away." |
