Mine has to be the 1st generation. The games were more fresh and original in the 1st gen, not to mention the fact that the Pokemon were so much better than the new ones as well in my opinion. Also, my favourite Pokemon game must be Yellow. So what is your favourite generation of Pokemon games? I sense many votes for 1st generation, but I could be wrong.

I'd say my favourite Pokemon generation is the third one. The Hoenn games, Sapphire version in particular, introduced me to the series, and of all the games I've played, I found them the most enjoyable, followed up fairly closely by my copy of Soul Silver. I've emulated the first generation a little bit, and I did find it pretty good. Admittedly, I prefer the updated FireRed from the third generation, though. The major step up in graphics is a huge swaying factor for me, though. As for the second generation... Honestly speaking, I haven't really played any of this generation. And for the fourth generation, literally all that I've played is Soul Silver, so I'm not really in any place to comment on the main games. The fifth generation is another one that I lack experience with, actually. |

I must say, the third generation was a close second for me. I liked the Pokemon that were introduced here, especially the legendarys, and I too found them very enjoyable. The music was quite awesome, too. |

My favorite was probably the 3rd Gen, I have played Sapphire most out of the Gens and I liked the way the story interwined with the gameplay. I never paid much attention to the story because it all felt similar to the anime (1st Gen at least). The soundtrack was memorable (dat trumpet man), too. My second favorite has to be 5th. I dunno, Pokemon BW seemed so fresh and new. The way the battles worked and how the overworld looked, it was the first time the artwork really seemed interesting to look at. |

I object to your claims

Huh, that's a tough one. I guess I'll have to go with the fifth generation here. |

In order, mine go like this: Gen 3, Gen 1, Gen 5, Gen 2, Gen 4. Gen 3 was the one I spend the most time playing (and for good reasons) and with that Gen came the awesome 3D Pokemon Games Pokemon Colosseum, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue Rescue Team. Overall, it's the time where Pokemon as a franchise expanded/broadened and introduced new ideas (Also Pokemon abilities and SpAtk Spdef split). Though if your just doing main games, i've play all three Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and played them many times, and it still hasn't lost even ounce of its luster. Hoenn was a nice (though some people may complain your required to surf too much, I personally liked it, felt balanced and felt complete), had a variety of terrain, overall had pretty neat Pokemon, Nice story (that Eco-Terrorism), etc. Really wish they would release another 3D (Shadow) Pokemon game on the consoles (though with the original Shadow Pokemon idea that may be abit complicated). |

I'm surprised that not many people favour Generation 1 On other websites, Gen 1 would be the most popular option, but people are allowed to have opinions I guess. Generation 3 is definitely a close second though, I loved those games so I'm glad that it is most popular with the people who voted.

Easily the third gen. I highly recommend new Pokemon players to start there. Because it really makes me feel like I'm on a journey when going from Ruby to HeartGold to White 2 when transferring all of your beloved pokemon.

Mines easily the first one, I have no problem with the second either, but when its to where you use a trashbag as a pokemon, or an icecream cone, i'm done lol. When is was mainly to JUST focused on animals that was sick. Then the pokemon just kept getting farther and farther away from that. Also I think the newer ones have sooo many legendaries that it's just dumb, the first one had mewtwo, and the birds. Now you get like three sets of them a season. ALL JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION. |

Bummer. I chose the first generation but I really love the second generation games. Color in the games, more Pokemon, they have a big adventure and pretty much the titles I have the most memories with. Fun games. |

Firered and Leafgreen are still gen 1 silly! And Heartgold and Soulsilver are still Gen 2. But in any case, my favorite gen is gen 2. It not only had the most ominous and mysterious lore and backstory behind some of the areas and Pokemon, but it also had amazing gameplay and overall Pokemon selection. Gotta love that originality! |

I'd have to go with Gen 3, since my first games were Fire Red and Sapphire. Something about them being my first Pokemon games helped keep their appeal over the years, and were always the ones I went back to. Also I ended up getting my first level 100 pokemon on Fire Red, so that was nice. |

No I think you'll find that they are gen 3 games, as a generation depends on the same system, the time the game released and the new pokemon created. FR/LG came out not long after the Hoenn games for the GBA and it has Ruby/Sapphire's new pokemon. Generations aren't region-specific. |
