I'm hearing more problems about the thing than anything. Wobbles, bricks and no games, oh my! Given recent trends I think holding off on launch for pretty much any console is the way to go. Gives them time to iron out the bugs (which everything seems to have), your desired system to build up a decent library of games and there's a chance of a price drop depending on how long you wait. My brother is getting one on launch when it comes out in Australia none the less. I'm not expecting particularly great things from it at the moment, but we'll see how it goes. |

I'm surprised that you're surprised, really. All PS4 news has been praise since its first unveiling in February and that has only been amplified by Microsoft's bone head mistakes. When you buy a console at launch you don't buy it for launch titles alone, if that were the case no one would buy any systems at launch because no system has had a super fantastic launch lineup of games. Xbox, PS3, 360, Game Cube all had poor launch titles. Heck PS2 had the worst launch line up outside of obscure systems and look how that system turned out. Yeah the launch exclusives aren't stellar but I'd give the edge to the PS4 just because of the F2P games like Warframe, War Thunder, and DC Universe Online. Also there will be a steady stream of good exclusives in early 2014 with Drive Club, inFAMOUS Second Son, Planetside 2, and FF14 A Realm Reborn to name a few. Other exciting news: New Tales game in development exclusively for PS4! I just beat Graces F, need to get onto Xillia at some point. Great series, glad I gave it a shot! We live in different times even from when the 360/PS3 launched. We live in a time where people will make themselves heard if they are upset and with that it will seem like things are a lot worse than they are. Needless to say everytime a popular product comes out you hear about problems. Sony has already addressed it though and have made troubleshooting videos and are working on fixing things/replacing it for free. So far the defect rate for the PS4 is 0.4% which is well under the norm for all electronics on average. Edited by Neo Metallix, Nov 18 2013, 05:07 PM.

Apparently or not. I've heard as high as 50%. 0.4% was the prediction based on initial testing, but they couldn't really know for sure until it got out there. 3 days in and they're already being sent back for repairs. Doesn't bode well, to be honest. I'm hearing a lot about over-heating issues now due to the fact that Sony insists on keeping the power brick inside the console with next to no ventilation and cooling. It's beyond me why they haven't done what everyone else does and keep the brick on the outside. Can't melt things internally that way. Either way, this is an issue in America, which is currently heading into Winter. You guys get SNOW during winter. It's the coldest season of the year and the things are still overheating. I dread to think how many fires will start down here with us Aussies heading into Summer. Been nice knowing you, folks. |

You can't tell me you ACTUALLY believe that 50% figure? First off, the only ones to actually know the figure would be Sony based on how many they have to replace and they have not stated a figure. Second off, 50% would be 500k total systems dead. Do you realize how big it would be if half of all PS4s sold so far were bricked? It wouldn't be just a few gaming sites reporting it. If 500k PS4s were dead it would be being covered by every major news agency, Sony would have to respond from angry share holders, the government might even have to get involved and force a recall which they have done in the past to other highly defective products. It's just bitter Xbox fanboys trying to exaggerate things to look as bad as it was with the 360 which had the highest failure rate of any system ever. The fact that they claim it's due to the power supply being in the system shows they know nothing about electronics. It has NOTHING to do with that, the PS3 had it in the system and had no overheating problems at all. Not to mention it has already been reported the PS4 is very well engineered for airflow. If you feel like worrying, worry in vain. I'm not concerned whatsoever as this happened with every console since the beginning. Every electronic device has a failure rate at launch and that's a fact. The Xbone will have similar reports when it comes out too and be blown up by a bunch of dumb fanboys as well. The Average electronic has a failure rate of 15%. I said I've heard as high as. Not that I took it for fact. Also, the PS3 doesn't have as much grunt as the PS4 has. The thing is going to need more power. Using the same methods as before with a greater power input is going to lead to a bad time. You can't judge the next console by the last one's standards. It's short sighted and foolish. It's all well and good that you have extreme loyalty for Sony, Metallix, but bad design choices are bad design choices. They may have saved a buck on production but in the end we as the consumer get shafted for it. Question your favourite company every once in a while. Fanboyism goes both ways. I'm going to level with you here: The PS4 was my 'next gen' console of choice. But these are the sorts of things I can't overlook. And with the Xbone looking awful before it even gets out of the gate I don't much feel like going that way either. It's going to be a long time before I pick up one, if at all. For now the PS3 meets my Sony needs and will likely continue to do so for a while yet. Finally, just because the average failure rate for ALL electronics is currently 15% doesn't mean the PS4 will have no more than 15%. That's an average across the board. Laptop computers on their own have one of 44% according to the chart. Who says the PS4 won't go the same way? Time will tell. |

I'm just pointing out the flawed logic being used to accentuate a problem with no proof. If you know what your talking about, which apparently your sources did not, you would know the PS4 uses less power and produces less heat than the PS3 launch system. The original fat PS3 had no problems with overheating. So saying it is a design flaw when Sony and others have used it time and time again is flat out wrong.
You do realize you can buy a brand new PS3 Super Slim or 360 S today and still run the risk of having one not work out of the box? They can iron out problems but no manufactured electronic will have a 0% failure rate, it's just not possible. Btw, Sony released an updated figure for the failure rate of the launch PS4s as of now. It's still below 1% which would be roughly 10,000 PS4s (and Sony is offering Immediate replacements for those 1% effected). Yeah I would be upset too but I'd get over it. I bought a Samsung plasma HDTV 2 years ago on Black Friday and 13 days later it broke! Had Samsung pay for the repairs but it still sucked. I'm not saying it's not a bad thing at all, I'm just saying it's to be expected that some will have to be replaced(which was my point with the 15% figure not to say anything about PS4's failure rate) and am skeptical with people yelling that the sky is falling based on the internet. Don't go telling me I'm saying this because I'm loyal to them. I don't own only Sony products and have owned different brands of consoles before, this is just rational thinking... |

We all know about a new tales game, FFXV, and KH3, but Ni No Kuni 2 would be awesome! I hope this is true!! I haven't beat the first one yet(had to get Tales of Graces out of the way first) but so far it is awesome. http://gearnuke.com/rumor-ni-kuni-2-reportedly-developed-playstation-4/ |

Getting 15% off my PS4 when it comes to the UK, thanks to my dibs buddy at Sainsbury's. None of the launches look all that great, so I'll be hoarding mine until Second Son and Watchdogs escape the leash. Oh yeah, Uncharted 4 too. Here's to hoping that won't get delayed either. |

Ni No Kuni 2? I played that at a friend's, never thought it would get a sequel, though I never finished it. I just hope they'll change or improve the battle system. I loved everything else, being a Studio Ghibli fan, but gads that battle system bored me to death. New Tales game confirmed for PS4 though? Must have missed that. There is a countdown though until the newest Tales revelation, clearly indicating a new mothership title, so I'm eager for that. |

Wow, what Sony did for the PS4 launch in Rome to the Pope's castle was pretty neat! |
