"I didn't use the whole thing ...."
The latest rumour that seems to be doing the rounds.

Quote:

The PlayStation 4 will be released in US in November 2013, reports Kotaku citing a 'reliable source'.

Kotaku says the information comes from the same source who leaked the codenames for both Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles, 'Orbis' and 'Durango' respectively.
According to the report, Sony will launch two versions of the console in November 2013, with prices of $429 and $529, although it doesn't detail exactly how the two SKUs will differ. It also notes that pricing won't be officially confirmed at tomorrow's PlayStation Meeting event, and that this will possibly be announced at E3 in June. The source also sent through two new pictures of the PS4 controller - pictured below - which appear to match up with photos of a prototype leaked last week.

The report goes on to claim that the PS4 will be controllable using smartphones or tablets, including the ability to speak with PS4 friends and buy games directly via said devices. Games purchased remotely will apparently be automatically downloaded to the console.

Additionally, it claims that Sony's 'PlayStation Plus' service will be replaced by a new subscription service called 'PlayStation World' and that, like Xbox Live on Xbox 360, "most" of the PS4's online features will require a subscription to use. There's no indication of whether or not this is related to the recently registered 'PlayStation Cloud' domains which sparked rumours earlier today.

The PS4 will also apparently allow you to spectate your online friends playing a game even if you don't own the game being played - which sounds similar to spectator features in cloud gaming service OnLive, which lets you watch live gameplay streams of other players.

Edge recently reported that next generation PlayStation will launch in Japan and the US by the end of 2013 but will not be released in Europe until "early 2014".

Everything seem to be logically accurate but that price tag may kill it for a lot of people if true.

According to rumors the price will be $399 US dollars at launch. Which is much cheaper than the PS3 launch and the same price as the Xbox 360. There have been leaked photos of the prototype controller but it's not know if they are real or not. Apparently it has a touch pad like the PS Vita and Move functionality built right into a traditional controller design.

I gotta be honest with you. That controller just looks like something straight out of the late 90's maybe early 2000's. But it's just a prototype. Such a small "screen" for something touch-worthy.

EDIT: I'm glad to hear about GT6. I really liked the fifth installment a lot. My wonder is what will this make for Killzone 4.

It's not a screen it's a pad, there's a difference! And the controller looks like exactly what it is, a prototype.

@Volt. We'll see. The price is a bit high but what would kill it for me is the paid subscription for most services like Live. PSN is so much better than Live the way it is now, why devolve into something that offers less value?
It be starting sooooooon!!!

Thoughts so far:

Aahhh that demo from Epic Games... !!! That looked really cool.

Real disappointed with the Dualshock 4 though. :/ Looks like I could accidentally break the thing, and the triggers don't look particularly better then they currently are. I always chose to put a trigger extension on a PS3 controller because I find them TOO SLIPPERY and not curved right... at least for me anyway. Was hoping for a big change in design for the controller, but alas, nothing too extraordinary. :/

But whoaaaaa digital games can be played as they actually download in the background. WHAT'S TAKEN SO LONG? ;_____;

I think the controller is fine albeit just a small evolution of what's been before it. I'm looking forward to what the touch pad and light bar bring to games. Seems like it could be interesting.

Digital games can be played as the download in the background, you can try out any game on PSN instantly, you can instantly boot your game from where you left off by simply turning it back on, you can watch what your friends are playing even if you don't have the game while leaving messages or even taking control of the game, 8 gigs of ddr5 ram, Gaikai technology for remote play with Vita, recording of any gameplay by simply pressing the share button. The new interface is awesome!! So much capability.

My favorite games show were Knack and inFAMOUS: Second Son. Knack just looked really awesome!!

I find it amusing that Sony never showed the actual console.

Ah, so Second Son is actually inFamous 3? Alright. Hopefully it's very connected to the first two games. Want to see Cole's story have an impact, not abandoned. ):

Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Features are definitely impressive, Second Son has me pretty excited. Some games that made me go "Oh that just looks cool" but not overly making me want a PS4 for those. I know the system will eventually have those games though.

There was a shred of hope though hoping for a surprise from Square about Final Fantasy Versus XIII being moved to PS4, but alas. Guess we'll have to wait for E3. Info will have to appear... right? Since Square is now marketing perfume with the game.

EDIT: Oh! I must have missed this. They showed the Agni's Philosophy tech demo again and said a new title will come this E3? Hoo-rah.

They didn't show it so they can make an impact at E3. They got people hyped up for this and now they want more which will happen at E3. It was actually genius, get a sample of it now and show the rest later to have two big impacting shows instead of just one.

As for Second Son, I'm thinking it's a spin off or a whole new story arc with the inFAMOUS name. That wasn't Cole and it didn't look like a continuation of the previous ones. The guy who uploaded it falsely labeled the video. And the SE guy said be excited for E3. I'll bet it's Versus XIII but renamed to XV. There's no way he's talking about Lightning Returns.

Pics of the Dualshock 4... I'll bet it feels pretty comfortable.

I'm going to have to plead ignorance on what it means when they say this console will "stream" games instead of regular backwards compatibility.

Playstation 4 Eye Details
Killzone Shadow Fall, DriveClub, and Watchdogs slated as launch titles!
^ Three awesome launch titles! Already shaping up to be a better launch than PS3 and PS2 aaaannnddd PS1. lol
PS4 will NOT block used games!
Huge deal! Lots of people confused if it'll block used games. Well it will NOT block them, used games work on PS4 and that also reconfirms it will have a BD drive(already confirmed however)
It seems PS4 will come bundled with a headset

Well, they kinda have to not block used games because Nintendo is already allowing it. You can't expect it to work out if one company blocks it while another allows it. But at least my worries are safe, being reassured. :V

I don't really like Killzone, but uh, you sure you're placing its launch that much higher? XD Not quite sure about that yet. Not to mention Watch Dogs is just confirmed to Wii U. Of course, I'm hoping Second Son could be a launch title too.

But yeah, I know the new guy seen is not Cole, but I'm just hoping that seeing it continues the inFamous franchise, it doesn't completely brush aside the first two games. Like hopefully Cole's story will leave a legacy or impact. Though I think it will, since I remember Kessler being called "First Son" or something like that.

But yeah! At least I know some new and big Final Fantasy news will show up at E3. They said a new game will be announced, which could be Versus being re-announced as Final Fantasy XV. Or it could maybe take the Agni's Philosophy concept, which I wouldn't mind. Though I'm excited for Lightning's Return too, but I doubt that's what he's referring to.

Oh and uh, how many Ls and Rs are there on the controller? I mean, L5 and R5? @____@

Well this is a switch.
http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/21/sony-psn-games-wont-transfer-to-ps4/

To be perfectly honest 3D Dot Game Heroes is my only concern for a transfer over. Maybe Killzone 3, Sonic Generations and Doom 3. I'm really hoping all that hard work I've put into all four of those can be paid off by being able to at least transfer PS3 game data over. So what about all that cash I threw out the window for PSX Classics titles? With knowing that Gaia Seed is my only concern I guess it's OK but what if they don't offer it on the Cloud service? I'm not shelling out $400 for a seven stage shooter. I guess I have no choice but to keep my Playstation 3 after all.

Anyway the next Killzone is definitely up my alley. I really did like the third. The first two...eh.

Yeah I would. PS1 had an ok launch, PS2 had a horrible launch, and PS3 had a slightly better launch than PS2 but only one real shining game since Motorstorm got delayed. Playstation has never really had a great launch as far as games but most consoles don't really, it usually takes a year for the games to start rolling.

As far as Watch Dogs being on Wii U. Well yeah, it's multiplatform but that doesn't take away from the launch titles. Wii U got a lot of praise for having a bunch of games that were on PS3/360...

What really made the PS3 launch great was Resistance: Fall of Man. At the time it wasn't since Super Mario 64 was I that impressed by the footage and I saw in screenshot form back then.

These three articles definitely have my interest.

I'm kinda sad though that they confirmed Cole's legacy won't be impacting Second Son at all, as inFamous's 2(At least the good ending) left a lot of speculation. I just hope it hasn't completely abandoned everything the first two games had. Otherwise, it only strengthens the problem with too many video games as of lately for creating new games for a franchise but barely being attached to one another, running out of creativity and likely to sell just because everybody would know the name. A problem I have with a few franchises out there. :/

Regardless, I'm still excited for new info.

Honestly it's like a movie that doesn't need a sequel or in this case had a sequel but didn't need a third. I feel they wrapped up the story nicely in the second and continuing it would just be like making a new story to continue it just for the sake of continuing it. Kind of like Taken 2 or Aladdin 3. lol!

The game is still based in the same world as inFAMOUS. It's 7 years after the events of Cole McGrath so it's not like they're tacking on the inFAMOUS name to a game completely unrelated. It's a whole new story arc, same universe.

@Snow Toilet - Yeah RFOM really stood out among other titles of that time. Loved the weapons and it kinda felt like a mature Ratchet & Clank.
