Hydrocity Act 2

I was thinking of a topic that I could create and this seems like a good idea since there is a lot of options and this hasn't been made for a while at least. So what is everyone's Best/Worst handheld Sonic game? The best for me is probably Sonic Rush. I thought it was very fun, fast paced and had a very good range of levels/bosses, I certainly enjoyed it. The Sonic Advance series was also good but I enjoyed Rush more. I didn't like Rush Adventure though. The worst is either Sonic Labyrinth for Sega Game Gear or Sonic Genesis for GBA. I thought Sonic Labyrinth was absolutely aweful, so slow, boring, dull and everything is just bad. I hate isometric views as a whole anyway (I didn't mind 3D Blast though). Sonic Genesis was just terrible, I don't have a clue how Sega managed to mess up on a port but they did, it was just a horrid port of Sonic 1.

Although I preferred Advance to Advance 2 in most respects, I personally can't really see Advance 2 as a 'hold right to win' Sonic game. xD; Advance was a lot more so than Advance 2, although admittedly I never seriously went after special stages in either, and have yet to finish Advance 2. The platforming elements seem to progressively get more intense in Advance 2, as far as my playing experience has taken me. But yeah, Special Stages in Advance were hideous, the few times I ever found any. I mean, the basic idea is easy, but the actual playing of them is terribly hard, especially considering that lining up the falling character to the ring lines requires a slightly-off estimate which is near impossible to get right. |

Ahaha, I see what you did there. I'm pretty sure he wasn't being that literal, but it still made for a funny video. Thanks for the laugh, man~ |

My! That's a pretty snazzy performance there!

First off gotta say that was a pretty funny vid about "holding Right to win" Now on to the topic: Favorite: Sonic Rush Adventure. Honestly The game play was fun and it had a good storyline. Plus I could get the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds thus completing the game. Though honestly after playing more recent Sonic games I kind wish you could increase your boost by collecting rings instead of having to do tricks. (plus I miss the homing attack) other than that this was my favorite. Least Favorite: Sonic 1 for Game Gear. True I only played it on my Sonic Adventure DX but it was just to strange and confusing at times. Favorite Advanced Game: Sonic 3. I think this one was easier and I loved how you could team up characters. Even play Co-op. I think it was number advanced 2 that gave me the most trouble. Other mentions: Sonic Colors DS: I liked this one and it's in my top three. I didn't like it compared to the others because of the lacking storyline. But I liked picking up rings to gain boost and the homing attack. And quiet honestly, I think this game did much better with the wisp power ups than the Wii version. (Espicially, like with Orange Rocket where you didn't have to charge up then launch) But most of the power-ups didn't really hinder Sonic's speed and in some cases made him faster. So they worked well with this game. My favorite level is Aquarium Park Act 1. (My two favorite power-ups are in it) Also I didn't like how the multiplayer was Sonic racing a Ball of light. The Special Stages were also fun and challenging too. Though sadly unlike the wii version you couldn't play as Super Sonic in normal levels ![]() Sonic Generations 3DS: This one had some great game play but lacked in Story department. Also the cutscenes seemed way to basic, the backgrounds could of been better and they didn't show much actions. Though I think in some ways this was harder than the Console version of Generations. I really enjoyed the special Stages and I find myself playing those more than the normal levels of the game .Sonic Labyrinth: It was mentioned by most people on here as their least favorite Sonic game. I can't say because I've never played it. Heard of it but never played it. |

I actually enjoyed Sonic 1 on Game Gear, I thought it was better than the other Game Gear Sonic titles anyway. Speaking of which, I think the Game Gear possibly had the most bad Sonic games imo, such as Labyrinth, Drift, Spinball, Blast and so on. |

Colours DS and Generations 3DS both suffer for the fact that they're lesser versions of some fantastic console titles. Passable if you don't know any better, but you'll ultimately wish you were playing the console version if you have it. That said, Colours DS was effectively Sonic Rush 3 and was a pretty enjoyable experience. Wisps were more limited in certain areas, but I loved the Violet Void power up. Heaps of fun. I used to do a lot of Time Attacking in that game. Generations 3DS, not so much. Kinda slow and clunky compared to its console counterpart, unfortunately. |

I object to your claims

To me, the best handheld game has to be Sonic Rush. The worst, however, is Sonic Labyrinth. |

I think i'm one of the few fans who liked Labyrinth. :V Anyways the worse handheld Sonic game i've played is definitely Sonic GBA. It was a horrible port to the console, and Stealth did a much better job than the programmers did who worked on the official game. (Stealth managed to not only port GHZ to the GBA, but other levels from other Genesis games to the DS flawlessly!) As for my favorite handheld Sonic game it's definitely Sonic Chaos. This was the game that brought the elements from the 16 bit games into the 8 bit Sonic world and did it very well. The only problem I have with it personally is that it's a bit too easy, and the level layouts are a bit too short, and after studying the game's engine they could have made the game bigger and made the levels longer. (Adding a new bank could have fixed that problem. )

I've only ever played the Sonic Rivals series, and both games suffer from poor story lines and that awful, awful elastic band effect. It also annoys me I bought a PSP with that series in mind. |

I haven't played ANY of the Sonic Advance nor Rush games, so I can't really give out the best. ![]() I've unfortunately only dived into the crappier Sonic handheld installments like Sonic Genesis, Sonic Labyrinth, and Sonic Riders. This is why I need to have my GBA back to have Dimps revive my faith with Sonic on the go.

The best in my opinion is Sonic Advance. Amazing gameplay, great levels, just an all around blast. The worst in my humble opinion is either Sonic Blast or Sonic Slowdown... I mean Genesis.
