Break out the L-word. The other L-word.
|
Vasilyev jumped at the bed after she snapped at him, grabbing it on the opposite side of Leyla and pulled it free from what had got it stuck: a trapdoor, which flopped back into its frame after the bed was released. There was a bloodstain right in the center of it. Vasilyev paid no mind to the trapdoor, and helped Leyla to push the bed up against the closet door, much more effectively barricading it. The beast had at the door a few more times, but noticed its new-found steadfastness, and slowly began to subside its banging until all that was left was a curiously sad scratching at the door. Vasilyev sighed. "Poor thing. I haven't been in this room in ages. Probably misses the hell out of me." He turned back to Leyla. "Well, I'll find you another room." Leyla laughed airily and leaned against the wall, her palm to her forehead. "Is that it?" She mused, shaking her head, "Is that really all you're going to say to me? That you're going to find me another room? Aren't you even going to explain what the hell just happened?" Her legs gave way and she sank to the floor, as the scratching from the door turned from saddened to mocking, before fading into silence. She glanced at the bloodstained trapdoor but barely batted an eyelid. It wouldn't have been one of the most curious incidents that would have happened to her within 10 minutes of visiting this god-forsaken house. "..Okay, then," Leyla stood up, addressing Vasilyev more properly. "I'll pay a blind eye if you tell me what exactly is going on here, first." |

Vasilyev watched Leyla with his hard blue eyes curiously, as if wondering why something like this should come as a shock to anyone, like discovering that one of your accepted tenets of life is not universally recognized. "Like I said, I do a lot of experiments," he said impatiently. "That is one." He pointed at the closet door. A hollow guttural growl slithered under the door and the bed, a sad moan that sounded bloody and mangled, and tasted ever so slightly to the ear like a meow. "I call him Dexter. If you'd like, I could ... find a way to let you see him." |

"Well.." Leyla smiled anxiously, "I'd rather found out about it sooner rather than later." She eyed the closet door apprehensively, unsure whether or not learning more about the beast behind it would be to her benefit. "Aha, oh yeah.. As long as I can observe it from a safe distance." She hastily added. Everything about Vasilyev struck Leyla as unusual- his demeanor, his abode- his creepy experiments, especially. She had her suspicions about whether or not he was hiding anything else, but pushed the thought to the back of her mind, for now. |

"Hm," said Vasilyev. He considered the trapdoor, running over a map of the old building and its intricate paths and secret passageways and underground tunnels. No observation room anywhere nearby to lead Dexter to. The main problem, of course, was that he was hungry, and Leyla smelled like dinner. If only Vasilyev could fill Dex's stomach so as to make him more docile around Leyla ... And thus thinking, he hatched a plan. "Say, how good are you with people?" he asked. "Do you think you could talk someone outside into coming to help us figure something out?" Edited by Wallace, Feb 21 2013, 07:12 PM.

"Sure, but are you certain that bringing an outsider into this will he-" Leyla was cut short as her mind came alive with suspicion. Vasilyev, a man who had barely welcomed his own relative into his mansion, was now suggesting the aid of a third party? If Leyla wasn't the individual to quell the beast's hunger, then who would be? "Okay, allow me to rephrase that. The person who we end up bringing into this mess won't be hurt, will they?" Leyla asked- she'd hate to be partly accountable for any forthcoming problems and had always tried to avoid responsibility when possible in the past. |

A young woman of the age of seventeen rapidly walked down the rainy street. She was obviously an art student, holding her art folder in front of her face so she didn't get too soaked. Her silky brown hair was messed up from the wind and the rain, and she tried to brush it out of her face. Thunder strikes again, the girl thought to herself - looking into the sky, same old, same old. Bad weather occurs frequently in this town. Strangely enough, she did forget to bring her umbrella. The girl's head was full of random and irrelevant thoughts, she didn't think about the road she was walking on, nor the way she was going. Hurry, she thought again. It was cold and she just wanted to go home. The thunder rages - it doesn't seem like it will stop any time soon. Maybe I can find a place to hide, she murmurs to herself. The girl lowers her art folder and looks up. She's standing in front of a large, strange looking building. She doesn't even know why- or how she did it, but she opened the door. Slowly but surely she went inside - the building had an eerily atmosphere and it sent a chill down her spine. "Hello?" she spouted, loudly enough for anyone in the whole building to hear. ((idek, sorry. xD)) |

The shout from downstairs made Vasilyev raise his eyebrows, then grin. "Go get her, girl. Tell her your poor old uncle was trying to reach something on a high shelf in the closet and just can't do it." He pushed Leyla out of the room while talking to her, closing the door behind her before she could object. He had to suppress the urge to cackle. She knew, she knew that he was going to feed the girl downstairs to Dex. And she was going to do it anyways. |

Leyla felt a sharp draft behind her as the door closed shut, and was left standing alone in the corridor. She was torn; not knowing whether or not she should find the source of the voice or stay with Vasilyev, as she feared what else lurked within the dark, hidden depths of the mansion. "I'm finding out who it is- but I won't let you hurt them," Leyla huffed angstily, pouting slightly, heading off to search for the origin of the greeting. She stopped once more before continuing, and cried, "And don't do anything suspicious! I'll know!" |

A severe gust of wind shut the door with a loud bang behind the confused girl. It startled her and thus she let out a cry of fear. She heard people yelling - the voices were distant but coming closer as she waited. She didn't dare to move, as she was too scared. She could not help but wonder what was happening here. |

A loud bang and a yelp resonated from the floor below, to which Leyla responded to by quickly making her way down the stairs. She was met by the sight of a rather bewildered girl. For a while, Leyla said nothing, for she had a disconcerting habit of staring at a person for a while before addressing them, fully weighing up their presence. "Who are you?" Leyla finally asked, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed. |

It was quiet for awhile, which resulted in a peculiar atmosphere. "My name is Milo" the girl answered, as if she was about to cry. Being soaked and frigid from the rain didn't really make things better. Milo stared at the ground as if it was the most interesting to look at - she didn't dare to face the other girl, scared of what she may think. After all, she just stormed into a stranger's mansion. |

Leyla took a more empathetic stance upon seeing the unstable nature of the girl. She took a step forward towards Milo, but made sure she kept her distance due to the girl's current nature. Leyla's eyes were alive with curiousity, conveying more than whatever words would come next. "How did you get here, did you just waltz in?" Leyla interrogated, her tone unintentionally harsh. She relaxed a bit before deciding to be more considerate. "I'm sorry. I guess I should be asking if you are well, first. You seem to be quite upset." |

Milo widened her eyes to get a good look of the girl standing there. She tried to calm down. "No, I'm sorry. I must seem rude." she replied, quickly shifting her eyes. "It's raining pretty hard outside and I was looking for a place to hide." She looked over at her art folder that was soaked, then points at her clothes which are also in the same state. "Can I stay until it's dry out?" she said, without knowing the consequences. |

Break out the L-word. The other L-word.

Suddenly, barreling down the stairs came a growing shout, followed by a horrible blur of limbs and teeth and eyes. If you focused well enough, you could pick out a man in the fast blob, maybe even two, even though only one human voice could be discerned. There was certainly a sinister growling, a barking, a croaking, a hissing, such a sick, twisted conglomeration of sounds that it seems inorganic, unnatural, extradimensional -- almost. There were claws, maws, glistening orbs, scales, patches of fur, fangs, talons, wings, arms, legs, odd protrusions almost like tentacles. But the whole horrifying mess was so hard to make anything out of. The thing -- or things -- ran around the room, bucking like a bull, trying to get rid of some unwanted passenger. The human voice (the aforementioned passenger, most likely) howled in an undignified, unbridled Russian accent, and in brief snatches of words let loose whenever he could find air to expel them and time to pronounce them without biting the tongue that made them: "HELP. ME. YOU. DROOLING. BUFFOONS." |
