Wraith silently walked along the road leaving to its assigned arena, the only sounds it made being the whir of its servo motors and clanking of its metal plates as always. The road seemed to stretch on forever, fog starting to roll in as it progressed further, making it hard to tell if it was going anywhere at all. If the mech could breathe there would no doubt be small visible puffs of warm air coming from its mouth. But alas, it could not, nor could it feel the cold at all.

"Damn it... how are you supposed to fight if you can't see anything?" Marcus muttered in a disgruntled tone as Wraith marched on. They hadn't thought to build in some sort of heat vision system or anything that would really assist it in seeing through conditions like these. Something to consider for the post tourney upgrades, perhaps. Much to his relief, some aspen trees slowly came into view, a dim light forming in the distance.

Wraith slowly came to a halt in front of the iron brazier housing a fire that flickered brightly as it alleviated the fog in the surrounding area, if only by a little. The road appeared to end with this flame, supposedly marking its terminus. The mech scanned its surroundings in an attempt to gather information on its arena, but thanks to the fog not much could be seen beyond a 15 meter radius, give or take. However, it did notice that the trees seemed to be oddly placed for a natural formation... the space between any two trees being exactly 2 meters.

"Huh... if I didn't know any better I would say this forest was man-made." Marcus mused curiously. "Well, nothing to do but wait for this Zeke character to show up, I s'pose."

Wraith moved into position by the left side of the brazier, the sound of leaves crackling under its feet being heard as it did. It waited there for its opponent to make an appearance, the glow of the fire reflected by its visor as it watched the flame dance and crackle.

I will have the results of my judging up hopefully tonight, at the latest tomorrow afternoon. I can just edit this post with it when I have it. So far I've only managed to get through Grammar and Fair Play. So I'm halfway done, should have this thing ready soon!
ok. Can't wait for my associate to give her judgement!! Judgement battle commence!!!

Alright, I have my judgment ready for this match. First off I just wanna say that this was a really difficult match to judge because you guys barely gave me anything to work with. But I can't blame you guys, I know how real life gets in the way and I also know all about pushing deadlines. So it's fine. You gave me enough, so I just had to do the best I could. Also my apologies for making you guys wait. I did my best to get it up in a timely fashion. In fact, if I hadn't gotten called off work tonight, this probably would've been a lot later. So let's count our blessings.

Anyhoo, down to business.

I'll start with Grammar. This was the easiest one, because all I did was proofread all the posts like I've never proofread before. Then I tallied all the mistakes and factored in how minor or easily-made the mistakes were, and calculated from there.

I noticed you both had a lot of mistakes. This may just be me, the English/Grammar/Spelling Freak/Nazi, but I counted 34 mistakes in all of Ludiii's 7 posts, and 21 in all of Zeke's 6 posts. It may be the lack of a seventh post that helped him get this edge, but I doubt he would've made 16 mistakes in one post.

The most amount of mistakes for Ludi were in his 2nd and 4th posts, where I counted 7 of them. The least amount of mistakes Ludi made were in his 6th post, where I counted 2.

The most amount of mistakes for Zeke were in his 2nnd post, where he made 7. The least amount of mistakes Zeke made were in his 3rd post, where I could not find a single mistake. Good job.

So right now it looks like Zeke has quite the lead in this category right? Well, let's double check. I also counted where stuff didn't make sense, which also counts as grammar for me. Here is an example:

Zeke, in your 2nd post, the first few lines are like, completely copy and pasted from some of the last lines in Ludi's 2nd post. Was this intentional, or meant in a joking way? Either way, I find it is in bad taste, so you get knocked for that in my book.

You both had really good vocabulary and used it well and correctly, as far as I could tell. Zeke, you had some...very creative names you kept labeling your opponent with, even though some were less than accurate ("android", mainly). Zeke, I'm also always impressed when I find someone who can actually use semicolons correctly.

However, none of this is enough to help Ludi catch up to the lead you gained by making a far less amount of mistakes. So the Grammar portion definitely goes to Zeke.

EDIT: OKAY SORRY I LEFT OUT THE REASONS WHY.
Ludi, you had a bunch of run-on sentences. A BUNCH of noun-verb tense mix-ups, you kept switching and that is NOT okay. Yes, some comma mistakes, other punctuation mistakes with like the ellipses. A few misspelled words.

Zeke, you had some misspelled words, a few run-on sentences... Nothing major, though.

Grammar Scores:

Zeke: 8

Ludi: 7

Final Note: I was impressed with your guys' pretty good vocabulary and also considerably good dialogue. These two aspects of your guy's writing is what keeps you both from getting like 7 and 6, instead of the 8 and 7 I gave you.

Okay, then I went ahead and looked at Adaptation to Environment. You both adapted really well to the less-than-desirable conditions this arena offered you. Although, Zeke, I guess the conditions were pretty desirable to you. And Ludi, since your fighter isn't human, I guess the weather and such didn't really affect you, besides the fog.

That being said, Zeke I was highly disappointed to read and find that you failed to use these conditions with your character to their and your full potential. I don't know if it's because you just ran out of time and were saving more of your specialized ice-based attacks for later or what, but 6 posts and a thorough read of the arena description should have been more than enough to show us what your fighter was capable of. But honestly, as a spectator and a judge, I am not impressed. I was looking forward to seeing some good cryokinesis. And since you had 6 posts and literally every element of this match laid out in front of you to help you make this happen, there is no excuse for this. Bottom line is, you used it, but not nearly enough. In fact, I think Ludi actually acknowledged and responded to the temperature and weather more than you did, if just by a little bit, and even if he couldn't use it like you could. Could, not did. Again, disappointed.

There is one saving grace, in that I noticed you used your canine character's hightened sense of hearing quite a bit. That was good, obvious, but none the less good.

Also, I was kinda confused by the way you responded/adapted to the fog. You were guessing A LOT about your position as well as your opponent's and, lucky you, you turned out to be...right...most... of... the time. I find this the tiiiiiniest bit shady. This point will also melt down and fuse with "Fair Play" but I haven't quite gotten there yet.

On to Ludi. I did like the way you responded and adapted to your environment. From the very beginning you acknowledged it, to the point of "taking notes" or whatever you want to call it and you never failed to mention it.

Adaptation to Environment Scores:

Ludi: 9

Zeke: 7

Final Note: A liiiitttle disappointing, but Ludi, you did a lot better on this than Zeke did. Good job.

Okay now on to Entertainment. Honestly, I can sum up this match and this section of judging in 1 word: BOOORING.

No offense guys, but seriously. It wasn't all that epic or entertaining, to be quite honest. I guess given more time and more posts you guys would've made it a hell of a lot better. But nah. Where it is right now, is like the first episode of what could be a long series of fighting entertainment. However, as we all know, the first episode isn't always so action-packed. So yeah. Let's get down to specifics.

Zeke: I liked your manuevers and especially that first hit you landed on your opponent. It was clean and well done. The first move you made I believe was the attempt to distract tactic, which was so bore. I imagined you just chucking a little icicle at the brazier and standing there. Not flashy or cool at all. In fact, if I was your opponent, I wouldn't have even been distracted. I kinda would've just stared at you and wondered what you were doing. Good try though.

Ludi: your missile launching, air-leaping, super-kicking performance was quite a deal more entertaining and impressive. That's all that really needs to be said on the matter. I'm not following the stereotype that action is only entertaining if there are guns and explosions, but you definitely lit up this foggy fight by using a few big and flashy moves and that, my dear, is A plus plus in my book.

In the end, Zeke, you spent most of the time dodging his attacks and running around than actually doing anything, and you couldn't even have the decency to do this in an ENTERTAINING way. Although, I'll admit, it is hard to do that and not many of us can. Ludi, although your character was clearly at a disadvantage, you didn't let this affect your performance to the point of making it mind-numbingly slow and dull. Out of these posts, yours were definitely more interesting to read.

You both had good dialogue, with each other and to yourselves in your own thought trains. (Ludi, your character seemed to psychoanalyze nearly EVERYTHING which CAN be good OR bad, but it's good for you because you managed to pull it off in such a way that it wasn't a complete snooze to read.) So that helped you both as well. A silent fight or one filled with chunky monologues can get tedious to read and boring to judge. So thanks for that guys.

Entertainment Scores:

Ludi: 8

Zeke: 6

Lastly, here comes my absolute FAVORITE part. Ooh you both should've known that I would have an absolute field day with this one. So without further ado, let's get right down to business. Fair Play, anyone?

Zeke, you already know what I'm gonna say to you. Your whole entire half of the fight was simply dodge-tastic. Did you even let a single blow come even close to hitting you? I don't think so. The way you dodged that Genspenst Kick kinda reeked of B.S. I was not too thrilled about that one. Also the way you dodged all of the missiles. I mean, it's kiiinda soooorta okay, less B.S.-y than dodging the kick, but still. You didn't even get knocked back or anything, much less hit. I was kinda "eh" about your whole portion of the fight, at least where fair play is concerned. Also, the aforementioned fog thing about knowing where he was and all that jazz was kinda WHEE-O WHEE-O WHEE-O ooops there it goes, my B.S. meter is tingling.

Ludi. Ludi Ludi Ludi Ludi. Why must you be so fair? You let Every Single One Of his hits connect, practically. That's good, but realistically? Your character had size and speed on his. You could've taken the dodge at least once. While a valiant effort to some, to me, this is a rather cowardly one. But I can't dock you on it. I think "Too Fair" isnot necessarily a bad thing. Kind of annoying, but not bad.

So I'm going to keep this section relatively short, as to not nit-pick or anger either of the contestants.

Fair Play scores:

Zeke: 5

Ludi: 9

If my calculations are correct, that means the final overall score is...

Ludi: 33/40

Zeke: 26/40

A major come-back and huge blow-out for Ludi. Good job.

However, this still leaves us a problem. Looks like we have an inconsistency between the judges, resulting in a tie. Bring in the third judge!

Thanks for listening guys, and thanks for your time. Good job, both of you, and I wish you well and luck within your next battles, be it in an advancing round or the Loser's Bracket.

yup. Kitty beat my simplistic judging method. But there you have it, a vet with tourney judging (I think) vs. a novice.
anyhoo, bring out the third judge!!

Nah, Crono, I've never judged a tourney or tourney match before, although I would like to one day when I'm not the participant. But I have to win a tourney first before I ever ask to do that. However, what aided my judging ability were 4 simple things:

I am very judgmental.
I am very critical.
I am an RP vet.
And I am simply awesome.

Simple. ^_^

This judgement of mine will be put up into sections, since my time allotments is such that I can't tackle it at once. yeah yeah, busy life and all that.

Grammar:
- the majority of the posts were solid, so I had to get nitpicky. that being said, there were enough mispelled words, missing capitalization for words, and so on between both combatants. I'm afraid that ludy had one too many run-on sentences, however.
Wraith: 7/10
Ezekial: 8/10

Entertainment:
- No arguments here. Now if only it went on for a bit longer....
Wraith: 8/10
Ezekial: 8/10

Fair Play:
- I didn't have a problem with this up until post 10. a frost hadouken destroyed a multidrive, multimissile delivery system. I'm not familiar with the capabilities of this frost hadouken other than it's implication of a kinetic, "negative heat" effect on a given target. It seems that you guys "rolled with it," but it still made me raise an eyebrow.

the reaction to the Gespenst Kick also made me think critically on fair play. Overall, there was an awful lot of dodging, and I might have to keep re-reading through the last few posts, but since the speed of the attacks weren't specified, I'd have to take things at face value. using a projectile to hit another projectile smacks to me of Matrix shenanigans, and while awesome, improbable aiming skills is just beyond my willing suspension of disbelief when it comes to this tourney. Edge goes to Wraith.
Wraith: 8/10
Ezekial: 6/10

Adaptation to Environment:
- The effects of the arena and the reactions by the characters to the arena's environment seemed to be heavily on the minds of the combatants, so I've no complaints here. The length of the match itself probably limits the maximum damage, but with what was said here, I think that more could be said about the aftereffects of certain attacks (missile pod, Gespenst kick) had on the arena. even if attacks don't connect, things still happen. Also, I don't think anything happened to the brazier when it was hit by ice, other than it making a sound. I am making frowny faces in your general directions.
Wraith: 5/10
Ezekial: 5/10

Final Tally:
Wraith: 28
Ezekial: 27

My vote goes to Wraith, so let's get this show on the road.
