Wraith silently walked along the road leaving to its assigned arena, the only sounds it made being the whir of its servo motors and clanking of its metal plates as always. The road seemed to stretch on forever, fog starting to roll in as it progressed further, making it hard to tell if it was going anywhere at all. If the mech could breathe there would no doubt be small visible puffs of warm air coming from its mouth. But alas, it could not, nor could it feel the cold at all.

"Damn it... how are you supposed to fight if you can't see anything?" Marcus muttered in a disgruntled tone as Wraith marched on. They hadn't thought to build in some sort of heat vision system or anything that would really assist it in seeing through conditions like these. Something to consider for the post tourney upgrades, perhaps. Much to his relief, some aspen trees slowly came into view, a dim light forming in the distance.

Wraith slowly came to a halt in front of the iron brazier housing a fire that flickered brightly as it alleviated the fog in the surrounding area, if only by a little. The road appeared to end with this flame, supposedly marking its terminus. The mech scanned its surroundings in an attempt to gather information on its arena, but thanks to the fog not much could be seen beyond a 15 meter radius, give or take. However, it did notice that the trees seemed to be oddly placed for a natural formation... the space between any two trees being exactly 2 meters.

"Huh... if I didn't know any better I would say this forest was man-made." Marcus mused curiously. "Well, nothing to do but wait for this Zeke character to show up, I s'pose."

Wraith moved into position by the left side of the brazier, the sound of leaves crackling under its feet being heard as it did. It waited there for its opponent to make an appearance, the glow of the fire reflected by its visor as it watched the flame dance and crackle.

The fog was thicker than it needed to be, that was for sure. Ezekial had a hard enough time seeing more than fifteen feet in front of him; from there, the fog seemed to go on forever. If that wasn't bad enough, the only thing he saw besides dirt, grass and flowers were sets of evenly spaced trees. Yet, since the only clear path stopped when the trees started to appear, the only way to go was forward.

He walked for a few minutes threw the fog until he began to notice a bright glow that penetrating the mist. Upon reaching it, he realized that it was an iron brazier with a blazing flame that must have been there for a while. Approaching even more, he realized that something else was behind it: a metallic beast that could only have been "Wraith", his opponent.

Ezekial stopped, surprised. He hadn't known that machines could join the tournament. Maybe there was someone else driving it? Oh well, Ezekial decided, When in rome... His fists suddenly burst with his blazing blue aura, ready for battle.

"Your move," Ezekial said to his first victim.

If the machine could react to his opponents appearance, it might have been giving a look of disbelief. Its opponent was an animal? Wraith had to be at least twice its size, if not more!

"This is our first opponent? A dog? Can't imagine we'll get much data out of this one..." Marcus thought, inspecting the wolf that had stepped out before Wraith carefully. Besides the fact that it stood upright and wore clothing there didn't seem to be anything special about it. Still, considering the mix of people gathered in the lobby he should have been expecting this. Heck, even the organiser was some sort of animal!

Wraith simply watched as the wolf's hands began to emit blue flames, noting that whatever it was seemed to be cool, rather than warm as you would expect flames to be. Then again, perhaps the conditions were messing with its sensors. It was hard to say.

"Your move."

"Giving us the first, eh? Dog's smarter than he looks. Got some interesting abilities too, if that flame is anything to go by. Guess we'll have to try and coax the first move out of him."

Rather than talking to their opponent, Marcus opted to say quiet for now. Perhaps a silent opponent would mess with the wolf's head, perhaps not. Still, it was worth a shot.

Still, he knew this wasn't the best situation to make a first move in. The brazier in between the two made a direct attack rather tricky. Swinging first while trying to maneuver around it would have left it wide open.

And sure enough, so did Wraith. With the challenge made, the mech activated its thrusters and propelled itself backwards into the foggy forest, the force causing the flame to flicker and fallen leaves to dance around as it cut through the fog, but only for a brief moment. Stopping a little after 10 meters, it stood and waited to see what the wolf would do, arms raised slightly in a battle-ready stance.

"C'mon... show us what you've got, pup."

With the challenge made, the mech activated its thrusters and propelled itself backwards into the foggy forest, the force causing the flame to flicker and fallen leaves to dance around as it cut through the fog, but only for a brief moment. The wolf couldn't see where it thrusted off too, but it was the perfect signal for him to disappear in to the fog as well, estinguishing his flames as well. He could hold off on using his ice powers for now.

Though he couldn't see farther than 15 feet ahead of him, Ezekial still had excellent natural senses, including hearing. He heard the thrusters stop inside the fog, and figured he could gauge just about where the walking robot was. That was the first thing he had to figure out. The second was to figure out its abilities before it analyzed his. If I could only provoke a reaction, Ezekial thought, That's not going to be easy, since my opponent doesn't look like it has any emotion.

Okay then, Ezekial thought to himself, Let's try something different. his right hand lit with his frost-flame, but not nearly as bright as before. A small shard of ice formed in his hand, two inches long and purposely weak. The fire was still burning a bright light through the fog from where he was, so he could target it easily. With his right hand estinquished once more, he tossed the shard at the brazier. The resulting sound of shattering ice should have evoked some kind of responce from the robot, even if it wasn't hostile.

It wasn't much, but he wasn't going to risk attacking that thing immediately.

Total mass in ice this post: 2in^2

Wraith watched as the wolf used a similar tactic, falling back into the fog and fading from its field of vision.

"So this is the way we're going to play it, huh? Looks like he wants to scope us out first, too. Though if this keeps up we'll get nowhere..."

Marcus' thoughts were cut off as the sound of something shattering caught his attention, just barely having time to notice the small shards of ice splintering off from a slightly larger chunk as they made contact with the brazier.

"...so, he's cryokinetic. I know of machines that are capable of manipulating ice, but I've never heard of a living creature that can do that. The cool temperature around here will probably work in his favour. Well, guess there's no point stalling any further. We'll just have to knock him down before he does anything dangerous with what ice."

As though it could read Marcus' thoughts, Wraith began to move once more, its movement systems lifting it a few centimetres off the ground. Turning to the left it activated its thrusters at about half speed, moving ahead about 10 meters before turning right and continuing on. It was now moving in the wolf's direction but along a parallel 'lane'.

The plan was simple: Go around and try to flank the wolf. The trees that lined the arena didn't exactly make for ideal moving conditions for the mech, but so long as it moved in mostly straight lines it would be fine.

Carefully watching the trees to the right, a faint figure soon came into view.

"Gotcha."

Spinning right by 90 degrees and allowing its momentum to line it up with its target, once the wolf was in its sights Wraith activated its thrusters once more and charged forwards, quickly closing the gap as it aimed to use the weight of its body as a weapon and slam into him at full force.

Ezekial listened closely as the thrusters started up again. They started to his right for a few meters, then turned and headed towards him at an angle. Ezekial prepared his frost flame with his left hand, his fist already freezing over with a thick layer of ice about five cm thick on each side.

He figured that it was probably going to try and attack him head on; otherwise, it wouldn't bother trying to navigate through the fog. Ezekial had to prepare himself for an attack. Despite its bulky shape, the machine was humanoid, and probably saw through the visor. That was his target.

When the machine pushed towards the wolf, he didn't hesitate to react. At the last second, he leaped up, grabbed the shoulder of the AI with his right hand, punched with his ice covered left, then continued to vault over the beast, all seemingly in the same movement. He landed with a thud behind it, hoping his plan had worked.

"Shit!"

The wolf had anticipated the attack, leaping towards Wraith with his hand coated in a thick later of ice. There wasn't much room for the mech to evade the attack, but by leaning to the right slightly it managed to avoid a potentially crippling blow. The punch makes contact with its left antenna, the cold chill from the attack and the generally cool temperature of the environment causing a thin layer of ice to form on it.

"He's obviously better suited to these conditions than I am... there's no way he was able to react to an attack that quickly, something must have tipped him off. Heightened senses, I'll bet."

Spinning around 180 degrees, Wraith slid back a small distance and faced its opponent once more.

"Going for the eyes, huh? That doesn't seem like an honest tactic, pup."

For the first time in the match Wraith spoke to its opponent... or rather, Marcus spoke through it. There wasn't any reason for it, he was just sick of acting mute.

"Seems you've got me at a disadvantage here... no wide open spaces to work with... low visibility... the cool chill in the air make your ice based attacks that much more effective... but..."

Oddly, Marcus was starting to speak as though he were actually in battle himself, pausing for a moment as Wraith raised its left arm. Its right hand grabs hold of the stake mounted near the center of the buckler, pulling it out slowly. As it did a faint green glow started to become brighter, eventually forming into a long blade like you'd see on a katana, the stake acting as the its hilt. With the Plasma Blade drawn, it lowered its left arm, pointing the tip of the glowing weapon towards the wolf.

"... I'm not ready to roll over and play dead just yet. I'm just going to have to knock you down before you can freeze me!"

Starting up its thrusters once more, Wraith charged towards Ezekial with the blade at the ready, preparing to slash at him at a downward angle starting from the right. If successful the blade would run along his chest, aiming to wound rather than kill, leaving a nasty gash at worst.

With no information regarding what sort of weak points to strike at just yet, Wraith would have to work them out while engaged in combat. An easy enough task, assuming it wasn't knocked out before it could.

"Going for the eyes, huh? That doesn't seem like an honest tactic, pup."

Ezekial turned to face his opponent. "So you can speak," he said calmly, "I should have guessed as much. Besides, it doesn't pay to be honest when I'm fighting against metal." He readied himself for another attack. What he got was something he didn't expect.

"Seems you've got me at a disadvantage here... no wide open spaces to work with... low visibility... the cool chill in the air make your ice based attacks that much more effective."

"I guess you've got me there," Ezekial said, smiling a cocky smile. He could definitely feel the water in the air around him, and his cryokinesis seemed to be coming to him easier than usual.

"...but..."

Ezekial looked on in disbelief as the plasma blade was released.

"... I'm not ready to roll over and play dead just yet. I'm just going to have to knock you down before you can freeze me!"

His hands were lit with the blue flame, but there wasn't anytime to try and sneak in a hit. He dived and rolled to the left as the machine rumbled pass, landing on his feet once more and dashing back in to the fog, now 25 meters from the brazier. Dammit, he thought to himself, I can't get close to him with that sword; it's not like I can just wrench it out of his grasp. I'll just have to try and get him from the fog.

He cocked his ears and waited, a ball of frost fire growing between his hands...

The blade missed its target and nicked a nearby tree, leaving a slightly smouldering gash on it which soon dimmed in the cool air. Once again the machine did a 180 and stopped to inspect the results.

"Hm... odd reaction to the blade, there. Thought he might have tried to take me head on again... though I suppose a blade made out of plasma might be intimidating to someone that's flesh and blood."

Where ever he had dodged off to, it was now out of Wraith's field of vision... though he couldn't be too far away. If Marcus had to place bets, he was waiting for the mech to come to him again so he could counter with a move of his own. A cycle that would no doubt repeat for a while as he tried to wear it down.

This was a cycle Wraith wouldn't allow.

Wraith sheathed the blade temporarily and made its way back to the Brazier, standing behind it as it looked down the path that the wolf had gone down. Of course, it couldn't see him thanks to the fog, but assuming he hadn't moved very far he should be 20-30 metres from this spot.

Lining up its sights, Wraith throws its arms out as a set of missiles launch from a hatch on its back, zooming off into the fog. At about 15 metres away, they break apart into a set of smaller missiles, spreading out over a 10 metre radius randomly. Upon impact with the ground, or anything else, they'd explode with a blast radius of about 1-2 metres each.

"If he won't come close enough to hit with a sword, we'll just have to smoke him out."

In the distance, the machinery once again whirred away. Ezekial couldn't tell what it was doing from here, but whatever it was, the sooner he could stop it completely the better. The flame in his hands had created a ball of ice with an area of 30 cm^2. It was all he needed for his next plan. This time, he'd try to set the flame on to the android and let the ice freeze over it while he looked for a weak spot.

Aiming as well as he could, he tossed the ball, lit with frost-fire, at the behemoth, just as an odd explosion-like sound came from the direction of the robot. As the sound continued in his direction, he managed to get a glimpse of what the ball was about to hit before the two connected

The explosion, while not that big, was still a problem. Thanks to pure luck, the missile had been successfully been detonated before it came too close, and the other two had detonated somewhere else to the side. The only problem was that the explosion was a bright beacon to anyone paying attention. He had to move, or another missile might head his way, and he might not be as lucky.

He ran to the robot's right 15 meters, then turned 90 degrees to the right and kept going for 40 meters. He measured carefully as he ran; if he didn't he could lose himself in the fog. He turned 90 degrees once more and ran forward for fifteen meters, finally turning once more to face the brazier, just at the edge of the brazier. Now all he had to do was to find that robot again, who had to have had the sense to move after all this time.

As the missiles detonated in the fog, small areas lit up for a moment before fading. In one of these flashes Wraith caught a glimpse of a shadow moving off towards the right, no doubt the wolf re-positioning itself for a better chance of attacking it.

"Tch, this is going nowhere. I can't see anything in this fog, so if he keeps moving I'm going to keep losing him..."

Wraith scanned the trees to the right, slowly turning itself as it prepared for another attack. There was nothing for a while... until for the briefest of seconds a faint figure could be seen dashing through the trees at the edge of the fog, disappearing almost as quickly as it had appeared.

"A flanking maneuver... he and I aren't too different in terms of battle strategy." Marcus thought, Wraith's head turning to the trees to the right. "... hm, maybe it's time to try something unpredictable. This calls for a gamble."

The mech turned to the right again, now facing away from the brazier as it stood in front of it. But rather than just standing there it fired up its thrusters once more, leaping high above the trees, giving it a good view of the forest below... or at least it would have if it wasn't for the thick blanket of fog that seemed to cover the entire area. But if it couldn't see the wolf, there was a good chance the wolf couldn't see it either.

"All right, let's do this! GESPENST KICK!"

At the apex of its jump the machine performs a front flip, extending its right leg forward as it moves into a kicking position, beginning to descend at a downward angle towards the ground rapidly. There was no telling what it would hit once it reached the ground, but the one thing that was certain is that it would HURT, shattering the ground below it and sending dust and cracked bits of rock flying around for a few seconds after impact.

At the angle it was moving, it would probably land around 15 metres forward from where it was standing at the time of the jump. With any luck the wolf would have moved into position and stood around long enough to allow the move to make contact. But this wasn't something Marcus was counting on with his current luck. Such is the nature of gambling.

Ezekial coudn't see where the robot was going, but he could still hear its thrusters give away its position each time. This time it seemed like Wraith was headed... up? This thing could fly!? That was going to make things even worse. From there, it could rain down missiles indefinitely, and Ezekial couldn't dodge them forever.

The wolf backpedaled 2 meters away from where he was. If this thing was planning on launching another missile, that was sure to be its first target. However, what he got wasn't what he thought.

"GESPENST KICK!"

"Huh?" Ezekial was at a lost for a moment, then it hit him - the robot wasn't launching another missile, it was launching itself! Before he could move, the monster landed exactly where he stood just a few seconds ago. If Ezekial had stayed where he was, he would be more than unconscious, he would be dead! The arena shook with the impact of the landing; Ezekial lost his footing from the shock wave itself. Without hesitating to see what the robot would do next, he regained his footing, but his unease increased even more. If he didn't act now, it was likely the robot would pull something else out of who-knows-where.

His fists blazed with frost fire once again, and another shard of ice formed in his hand. With such close range, he couldn't have missed; he shot the shard towards his opponent's visor. If the ice hit, the flame that was blazing on it would freeze any water in the air around it, and it would hopefully blind the robot once and make this fight a lot easier.

Leaves flew about everywhere as the machine fell through the treetops, making impact with the ground soon after, partially destroying it and kicking up a cloud of dust that quickly subsided. Wraith looked forward to inspect the damage, but the wolf remained unharmed a small distance ahead of it.

"Damn, missed."

The mech barely had time to move as the wolf launched a counter attack, jerking back and right in an attempt to avoid it, but it was already too late. The shard of ice hit the left half of its visor, causing the moisture in the air to freeze over it. Ice quickly covered the left half of its visor and part of its helmet, partially obscuring its vision, but thankfully not all of it.

Were it not for that last minute movement it surely would have hit head-on and left the unit blind. The ice covering the left half of the visor made seeing things to its left quite difficult, but thankfully depth perception didn't seem to be an issue thanks to its targeting systems. Still, it can't aim for something it can't see, so it would have to be mindful of its left side.

"So that's the way we're going to play it, huh... well, better get him before he has another chance to run of and use this to his advantage."

As the machine stood up once more, the three stakes on its left buckler start to glow and hum, energy building up inside of them. Its thrusters activate once more as its charges towards its target, right hand extending forward to grab the wolf while the left is raised back in preparation for the attack.

If successful, Wraith would slam the plasma stakes into him and allow the stored up energy to discharge, the force no doubt sending him flying into a nearby tree. If not, its momentum would carry it past the wolf about 5 metres before it could stop and turn around, leaving it far enough to avoid a direct counter-attack, but still easily within the reach of a ranged one.

Okay. I'm here to judge this match. I'm Aaron Kunai of Match F, and I will now judge this match based on the Following attributes:

-Fair Play
--Grammar
---Adaptation to Environment
----Entertainment

Ok First we're going to start off with Fair play.

Fair Play-good use of fair play here. I had found very good instances of Fair Play In Zeke's beginning post. He didn't think of charging into battle headfirst. He decided to let Wraith make its move.

In Wraith's case, while i was reading, i saw that Wraith had taken what Zeke had dished out. It didn't try to dodge and counter, but there's nothing wrong with that there. Thus, since the both of you had played fair during the 12 posts that make up this match, I'm giving both you guys a 10.
Zeke-10
Wraith-10

ok, now onto grammar. Wraith, you had made a small error in this following quote:
"...so, he's cryokinetic. I know of machines that are capable of manipulating ice, but I've never heard of a living creature that can do that. The cool temperature around here will probably work in his favour. Well, guess there's no point stalling any further. We'll just have to knock him down before he does anything dangerous with what ice."

I believe it's "We'll just have to knock him down before he does anything dangerous with that ice," instead of what ice.

also, i found another small error with another of your posts Wraith; "well, better get him before he has another chance to run of and use this to his advantage."

once again, a small error with words here; you used of instead of off.

Nothing more i can see from either Zeke nor Wraith in this department. So i give both combatants the following scores:
Zeke-10
Wraith-9 for two small errors. any larger errors and i would've taken off more points.

Moving on to adaptation to environment. Both combatants used the fog in this arena to their advantage somewhat. I am pleased to see that both characters had struggled through the fog to attack and dodge. I'm glad that niether of you had decided to somehow see through the fog. The way i see it, you guys adapted to this the way that it should be adapted to. So, in this honor, both you guys get a 10.
Zeke-10
Wraith-10

Now, finally we get to the meat and potatoes of this match-the entertainment.
Firstly, I can't help but point this out early--the match was incomplete. i would have liked to see more of this, what happened here?

but ignoring that, Going to look at the combatants themselves. Wraith, you did put on a show somewhat. A robotic combatant always is crowd pleaser in my book. You did light up the arena with those missiles looking for Zeke, and you did use that special move on Zeke. And i liked the fact that you used yourself as a projectile. Characters that do this in their attacks always makes for good entertainment.

Ok, now looking at Zeke. Sorry to say this buddy, but you didn't attack Wraith much. I know that he put you at somewhat of a disadvantage, but at least you kept your wits about yourself, and dodged, narrowly escaping your own death by Wraith's Genpenst Kick. I would had liked to see more attacking by you. You managed to land a hit when you threw your ice shard at Wraith's visor.

In all, this could have been an epic match; a wolf that has the power of cyrokenesis vs. a robot that can outgun you. A real david vs. goliath battle, if you will. but no, all i got was just 12 posts.

However, i have to hand it to you guys, you did put on a show in my eyes. for this i give you guys a 9.
Zeke-9
Wraith-9

so now...time to tally the points.
Zeke: 10(Fair Play) +10 (Grammar) + 10 (Adaptation to environment) + 9 (Entertainment)
Total: 39/40 points

Wraith: 10(Fair Play) + 9 (Grammar) +10 (Adaptation to environment) + 9 (Entertainment)
Total: 38/40 points

And there you go, you guys are one point apart!! Zeke, you win this round!!!
Wraith, a very good show. I hope to see more of this robot in this tourney, and i hope that if i get a chance to go against you, i hope i can beat you!!!

Thank you guys for your time. Kunai out!!!
