Ankle-deep water. Night sky. Ruined coliseum, with several trees covering the stands where people once cheered from long ago. Forest surrounding the arena. Obviously, it seems it hasn't been in use for so many years, by just looking around. The full moon shined brightly high above the arena, reflecting off the water, as Fenroar Strauss walked into the ring, where one of the assistants led him to the arena before leaving him. Unaware to Fenroar, there's actually a sublevel of water beneath the area, being much deeper if the ground above were to shatter. Only one way to find out though. Well, this is a dandy place, Fenroar thought to himself, slightly annoyed by the choice of arena. A place like this will obviously have no sources of electricity around, so Fenroar can't afford to go crazy for this match. Might have to rely on his batteries. However, the water on the ground could be great help, unless the opponent flies, as it gives him an idea. He walked into the arena, with his ankles soaked. Hopefully they'll be able to introduce themselves before things get started. He then notices a shadow in the distance, where Fenroar stands. He's not nervous, being kinda eager, yet also knows to not underestimate anybody in this tournament, seeing all kinds of personalities in the lobby. |

His opponent was assuming an attack stance, but that no longer mattered; the distance between them was more than enough to buy some time. But there was no time to be lost; Claru had to act fast to get the first shot in. "Deploy gravity brake," he said in a low tone. A pressure seemed to build around him, and it took all of his strength just to remain standing; further movement now was impossible. The water beneath him rippled even more fiercely than before, sending lone droplets of water up around him where they slowed in the air and froze into place. "Gravity brake set," confirmed the automated voice in his mask. "Disengage inhibitors." Three bolts extended from his wrist partially, the light within his arm growing brighter with every passing moment. "Inhibitors disengaged. Energy levels climbing to one hundred fifty percent of standard operation level. Two hundred percent... Three hundred percent... Six hundred percent... Energy quantification has exceeded one thousand percent of standard operation level. Alert: Structural integrity is at risk. Immediate venting recommended." The generator inhibitors were in place to prevent the Sinister from producing this much energy in the first place, but now that they were unlocked, it was generating too much power for the limb to handle; trying to contain it for too long would surely tear his arm apart. It was now or never... |

Great, he was charging something! Fenroar thought to himself, noticing he definitely isn't planning on attacking right now, noticing the strong pressure all the sudden as well as the water rippling in the moonlight. He expected something that would enhance his power or something, or maybe a new one, seeing he took the tape off his metal arm. "You weren't kidding," Fenroar mentioned, feeling uncomfortable from the sudden change in the atmosphere. He really is planning his trump card now. "Let's do this then!" Fenroar then changed his stance, spreading out his arms and legs, before using his air powers to launch himself high into the air, the moon shining behind him. Ugh. My legs feel sore from just jumping... When using his air powers, there's one setback, perhaps even worst then electricity. It can be endless, as there's always air flowing around him obviously, but Fenroar is not a pro at air, being an electric guy. Using air powers puts incredible strain on his muscles for the force needed for a high jump that he's about to do, which might lead to his legs becoming sore, cramped, or if really bad, unable to walk. Fenroar jumped high, above the arena, before redirecting himself and launching himself straight at Claru headfirst, grasping the hilt behind with both swords as he plans on using his remaining electricity into this attack. He charged all that he could as he fell down, ready to strike close range. |

(Nicely played. I made a graaaaave tactical error trying to pull that trick on you. Ah well; these gambles are always all-or-nothing. I concede victory to you, Fen.) Just as Claru was about to start the firing sequence, his target moved. Not along a horizontal axis, however; if he had, the targeting system would have made the relevant adjustments in time. No, Fenroar had moved up, beyond the range of how far the gravity brake would allow Claru to move. This was a foolish move, Claru realised, He's going to hit me with a drop attack and I'm completely immobilised with my arm on the verge of exploding! "Emergency cancel!" he ordered, but it was far too late. At best, the Sinister would purge the excess energy safely and would cease to overload. However, the gravity brake would not disengage until the energy was completely vented as a safety measure; by the time it released, Fenroar could have hit him three times with the same overhead attack. Time seemed to slow as his inevitable defeat drew ever closer. It's over... he mused, watching the sword descending from above, He had me backed into a corner from the beginning. What a poor judgement call this was. Now everyone who took me seriously before is only going to look down on me. What a mess. Catina's gonna be pissed. And then, the sword struck. The blade buried itself in the right shoulder of the HERMES; not enough to penetrate all the way through and into his flesh, but enough to send Fenroar's remaining electrical reserves directly into his body. Throughout the entire battle - no, throughout all of his years of fighting - Claru had never been hit with this much voltage in one go. There was a brief moment of pain as every muscle in his body locked up. Then the world went black. Although he was unconscious, the gravity brake kept him upright, arm outstretched towards a target that was no longer there. In a minute, it would shut down, and Claru would fall to the arena floor, decisively defeated. |

(O-Oh my. I... actually pulled it off. Whew! But yes, thanks! And great battle, TUC.) Fenroar wasn't sure what happened, expecting a great clash of attacks, but heard Claru order an emergency shutdown. However, it didn't seem to come in time, as Fenroar then dove down and pierced Claru's left shoulder with the blade of his sword, the electricity surging afterwards. Fenroar didn't feel the blade of his sword actually go into his flesh, but regardless of his armor, the electricity would finish him off anyway. And it did. Fenroar's remaining electricity painfully shocked Claru, watching him fall unconscious. Fenroar pulled out the sword and fell into the water, while Claru floated above him a bit due to his equipment. However, Fenroar groaned from pain when he hit the water, kneeling down. His legs are rather shaky from the jump, his use of air putting an incredible amount of force on the muscles in his legs, making Fenroar feel like he just did a workout. Why did he pull back his attack? Fenroar asked himself, before realizing it a second later. That was the first time he openly showed his use of his manipulation over air. Oh, of course. I don't know what kind of attack he was planning, but clearly it wouldn't work if I was going to strike from the air... Other then some rather shaky and sore legs, Fenroar stood up fine, as his unconscious opponent then fell to the water, his equipment shutting down. Fenroar realized his arms are stiff too, as he then sheathed his sword into the case on his back, examining the fallen Claru. "Thanks... for the fight," Fenroar said, panting a bit. If we meet again though, I have a feeling I at least won't be escaping injury-free like this time... "So where do I go now?" Fenroar asked, not to anybody in particular, in case there's a judge spying on them from somewhere. He wasn't sure what to do with Claru, debating whether to carry him back to the main lobby, but decided to wait a bit. He definitely isn't planning on leaving Claru here to die. |

From the darkness of the forest stepped a small mobian. A fennec fox from the look of him, he was dressed in a satin, burgundy colored button up shirt, grey dress pants and well-worn black loafers. Over this, he wore a tailored black trenchcoat. A peculiar looking wireless headset adorned his facial features. "'Ello 'ello 'ello! What've we here? This looks like the place Auriel mentioned, and there's a winner already? Bloody ace!" Daintily, the fox skirted the edge of the arena, trying to get a better view of the unconcious Claru. By now, the thrusters of his suit had become erratic, and he had begun a slow pirouette in the air. "Well now, come gather him up, mister victor. No, don't give me that look. Do you expect me to carry a man of that size?" |
