What are some of the hardest games you've ever encountered. I'm curious as to know what games really kill people. And this means on an easy difficulty too. We all know Doom 3's Nightmare is hard and Halo's Legendary is frightening. I mean easy.

For me it was always an vertical arcade shooter, which I just recently completed for the first time after playing for 14 long long years, Galactic Attack. The other most frustrating game I've ever played was Killzone 2.
If there were ever a first person bullet-hell shooter, Killzone 2 would be it.

Let's here it.

Ninja Gaiden 2. This game is ridiculously hard as hell for me. I haven't played any of the others, but I'm assuming the sequels are just as hard if not even more.

That's what he said.

I never really experienced a game that was too hard expect for Veteran in COD and Legendary in Halo. Besides that, nothing ever really gave me any trouble.
-Sig under construction because the next thing I use will be hilarious-

Hey guys! Check out this game I made Here!

Well, I've been recently playing Faster than Light, which is an indie genre of gaming available on Steam. It's not a complex game, but the losing rate is very high as it requires a high degree of fortune and foresight. There are also no save states available, so if you die, you have to start all over again.

Another game that springs to mind is Dynamite Headdy back on the Mega Drive/Genesis. I think that was the only game on the console I never did finish, mostly due to the tough boss fights, IIRC.

Garry's Mod Zombie Survival. It's a multiplayer game-mode where you play as different kinds of zombies from the Half Life series, and you have to kill survivors. I think the hard part in this game is the speed of zombie players compared to the speed of actual NPC zombies. I also think its hard that zombies can only attack with their claws. Or any default part. Survivors get guns, and crow bars. and zombies get, nothing. Survivors can also barricade themselves into rooms. And the only way to get through the barricades is to attack the objects that are being barricaded with. And during that time survivors can shoot at you.

Of course, it isn't easy to stay alive as a survivor either. Almost all the matches I've been in, the zombies always win. It even gives you a big popup sign telling you that you're the last survivor and zombies are out to get you! It is nice they are telling you're in risk of being killed by blood hungry zombies. And you can't really had anywhere, because lets face it, head-crab zombies can slide through the smallest cracks. And even if they die they can just re-spawn and keep doing it.

As a survivor you have to buy weapons with points. And you can only use the point system once or twice. Rarely twice. And sometimes I close the weapon tab by mistake and am unable to open it till the next round. And that's horrible since you only get a small pistol by default. They are born with it.

You can't hide in the game, because zombies and survivors can see each other by searching for small round lights, green shows that the player has a lot of health, red shows he could be dead within a hit, and orange, it pretty much means half way.

So, Zombie Survival is fun, but I prefer the default game-mode of the sandbox. I can kill zombies easily there. Well, sort of.

I'd say 'Genji: Days of the blade', but it doesn't exactly count in my opinion, so I'll say Disney universe because not only you can get killed at ANY time, but you can get killed by your OWN teammates! your own friends! how stupid is that?!

Here's one that some of you may remember playing is the Marine campaign in Aliens vs. Predator (2010). Especially the Hive portion. On the easy difficulty it is ridiculous. I've tried it recently on Hard difficulty. Nightmare will definitely be impossible for me. I hope Aliens won't be anything like this game.

My! That's a pretty snazzy performance there!
Hmm, I always thought the original Metroid on the NES was hard as balls. I still can never beat it without using cheat codes.

As for a more recent game, NIER on Hard Mode. Dear God...

Touhou is tough, but there are so many things I can think to try in Touhou that it never gets old. Other bullet hells, like Cave's, are tougher in my opinion.
Sonic-related, I always thought Sonic 2 SMS was darn-near impossible.
Oh yeah, Norfair in Metroid. Without a map.

I always thought Metroid was easy once you used a map or memorized it. Except maybe in Tourian.

I am just never good at the old NES games and with Metroid, I could never get the hang of where to go and the bosses are a pain, especially Kraid and his fake copies. :P

One of the first games I can ever remember playing was a NES game called Abadox and I remember that was a tough piece of sausage. But the last time I played it I was like 6 or 7. I agree though. Most NES games are very frustrating. When I tried the original Metroid I remember it was tough. In fact Kirby's Adventure and Super Mario Bros. 3 are like the only NES games I can complete with no problems. Even the Legend of Zelda gets me frustrated.
