Talk about Sonic games that you think aren't neccesarily terrible, but get too much attention here. Personally, I find Sonic Adventure 2, the Rush Seires, and the Rivals series overrated. They just don't appeal to me much.

I agree, as much I like SA2 once you beat it there's pretty much nothing to do but raise Chao. And that gets old after a while. Another game I thought was overrated is Sonic 3. If you have never played that game before, it get's annoying and repetitive after about 30 minutes of playing it. |

Hmm... I feel one game that is a little bit overrated would be Sonic Unleashed... at least, the HD port. First, I hate quicktime events. I REALLY hate quicktime events. Second, the stages go on FAR too long, why can't they be broken up into smaller stages instead of having those really short and pointless extra acts? Third, EGGMANLAND. Need I say more? Fourth, I. HATE. THOSE. DAMN. MEDALS. They should NOT be required to collect to beat the game. I really do hate having to go out of my way to find them when I just want to blast through the levels. My friend has the Wii version, and I tried that one. I do much prefer it over this one, even if that one is lacking Skyscraper Scamper, my favorite level in the game. At least that act doesn't require you to hunt for things, and has shorter levels. Plus, much fewer quicktime events. |

Hydrocity Act 2

I've edited the post to clean it up and shorten it. Now that I've calmed down and know what's too much. First off, I want to say that I love this game so far. I love certain stages to death. The story is incredibly heartfelt and powerful. The characters are deep. The soundtrack is just about, as usual, catchy as it can get. However, the game has issues that may be few, but can really take away from the overall experience. Have you guessed which game I'm taking about? Sonic Adventure 2. Don't get me wrong, it's great. I understand why people love it so much - and why I do. However, the problems it has are unfortunately BIG. Tails feels incredibly heavy to control. Every time I jump onto a platform above a bottomless pit, I'm taking a leap of faith. His stages are also not the most interesting. Dr Eggman's stages are alright, and I much prefer his controls over Tails. I enjoyed playing as Gamma, and playing as Dr Eggman feels much more like his SA1 counterpart. He's not who I play the game for, but he's enjoyable all the same. Knuckles and Rouge... Where do I begin? First off, allow me to say that I LOVED the shard hunting stages in Adventure. I thought they were interesting, unique, and most importantly: Fun. Sadly, Adventure 2 had to step all over it. It feels as if some guy wanted to copy Adventure's mechanics for his own company's video game, but didn't want to be sued, so he changed around enough things to make it seem "original". The radar only picks up one shard at a time, the hint system requires you to already be familiar with the stage (I know that Tikal is gone, but they could have Omochao serve his purpose and guide you.) and worst of all, the level design is HORRIBLE. I'm amazed how I never see people complain about it other than saying the last few stages are far too big. I'm sorry, I REALLY want to enjoy them, but I just cannot stand the level design. First, yes, they're massive and easy to get lost in. Second, the rooms are too narrow and small (Although the massive number of rooms make it large.) so you're going through a maze. Third, which is caused by the second, every time Knuckles and Rouge turn in a small room, the camera will have to move around FAR TOO MUCH. ... Yes, I get motion sickness easily, but this game is by far what I'm most sensitive to. I feel dizzier playing this than first person games. But like I said, the camera moving around since you need to switch rooms is annoying whether you're sensitive to movement or not. It's just not enjoyable. Also, on the topic of the level design to help me calm down a bit from my rant there, one of my favourite things in Adventure was just gliding through the stage until the radar picks up on a shard and I head towards it. That was fun. The distances, the view, it was great. In Adventure 2, you just check each room one by one to see if the first shard the radar feels like picking up is nearby while getting incredibly irritated by the rotating camera. When I'm progressing through the story, I play through the speed and shooting stages in one sitting. It's the hunting stages where I usually stop for the day and take the longest time to complete. ![]() Something I'll briefly bring up is Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Now, I haven't beat this game yet either, but I've played enough to say that yes, it's definitely the largest of the classic Sonic games. However, Sonic 3 gets TEDIOUS. The stages drag on much longer than they should. I can beat the first two Sonic games in one sitting, but I'm thanking God that this one has a save feature. I would NOT be able to beat it without cheating my way to the level select to where I left off. However, I don't find this quite as overrated as Adventure 2. If you've read this entire post, here. Have a cookie of your choice. You deserve it for sitting through that nerd rant than even surprised me. I never realized I hated the game's problems THAT much. End of rant here. It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power! Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but... That's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure. -Sonic the Hedgehog | |

Yay! Cookie! *munch munch munch* Um, as for any other overrated Sonic game... Sonic 2? I'm not sure WHAT it is about it, but something about it seems... off. I just don't enjoy it as much as Sonic 1 or 3. Perhaps it's the level design, perhaps it's the badniks. |

Angel Island Act 1

Sonic Adventure 2. I played it for the first time in since the Dreamcast days (Never owned a GameCube) and while the speed stages were great, the rest of the game was awful. Mech shooting didn't hold my interest and the treasure hunting was terrible. |
