Sandopolis Act 2

She was in some deep, deep shit. One, she was running for her life. Two, she felt like her heart was going to explode, her lungs would burst, or her legs would fall off. The girl was sprinting away from two very angry people. Team Nexus grunts, in fact. Ah, Nexus. Another team attempting to take over the world. Same story, same people. Blabbity blah. Only this time, it wasn't. Nexus was actually backed by some of the most brilliant minds ever conceived. Evil and twisted, yes-but brilliant. Too bad the same couldn't be said for their grunts. The girl resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Hadn't Nadiya gone on and on about how formidable the grunts were? How she "barely escaped" and that one grunt had put her friend in the hospital with a coma? Please. She had to be mistaken. A cruel smirk appeared on the girl's face, despite her heart hammering inside her chest. The only reason she was still running was because she had defeated them in battle. Easily. Of course, there had been a type advantage...but she preferred to attribute her victory to skill, and skill alone. They're not so tough. Her expression changed back into a grim frown when she heard a gunshot. Then two. Dammit. The grunts, however, were well-armed. Nexus took care of their own. The truckloads of money probably helped that. In fact, the girl was convinced that Nexus wouldn't miss a tiny sum. In other words, she'd devised the brilliant idea to surprise the two guards, take out their Pokémon, rough them up a bit, and then rob them blind. It'd make a nice pay day. Oh-and she could return those stolen Pokémon too. So far, her plan was going exactly the way she thought it would. She'd hoped there wouldn't be guns, but... She was running faster now. No more gunshots? She must be out of range. Great. Time to disappear... ~~~ "Where'd she go." One asked the other, his voice monotone. "I don't know." A few minutes longer and then they both gave up. There was probably another assignment by now, and they hadn't received orders to pursue the girl. ~~~ Half an hour later, the girl jumped down. "Hah! Sweet success. Sometimes crime does pay-if you play your hand right." She whistled, at ease in the dark woods. She even knew the direction to the small town nearby. She'd spend the night somewhere (sneaking in for free, of course) and then book it out of town in the morning. Flawless plan. Nothing could possibly get in her way... ((Short post. Bad intro. YOLO.)) This small town also currently housed Jin Riardos, a formidable trainer who traveled around different regions for the adventure alone. He had only been in the area for no more than a few days and already caught wind of Team Nexus. They seemed just like a regular team of no-good crooks, but boy, was he wrong. So wrong. Jin would soon learn just how fearsome they could be. But... maybe at another time... Jin was enjoying a quiet evening to himself, along with his Eevee, who goes by the nickname "Foxy." Like other trainers, they sometimes traveled with Pokemon outside of their Pokeball. Foxy was Jin's travelling partner even though the female Eevee didn't mind it's Pokeball at all. He had a room at the local Inn but he figured he'd catch what the town had to offer before turning in and moving along. He never stayed at one town for more than a day, unless he liked what the place had to offer. It was a small place, charming and friendly atmosphere. He caught a quick bite before deciding to head back to his room and continue travelling tomorrow morning. |

|
A small creeaaak came from an alley nearby Jin. It sounded suspicious. Someone was up to no good. Which...described the girl's actions perfectly. She tried to place her weight on the pipe again. Another long creak. The girl hopped down to the ground, pulling her hat down over her eyes. "Dammit." she hissed. She wanted to punch the pipe in frustration, but she knew that would only lead to more pain, anger, and wanting to punch things. For a moment she stood there, frowning. This was the only hotel, and this seemed to be the only place where she could sneak in unnoticed. Her eyes caught sight of the trellis leading up to a window...and a room. She eyes the white framework doubtfully before muttering. "Well, I'm out of good ideas...why not try a bad one..." Slowly, she grabbed on to the wood and pulled herself up. How the heck is this more durable than that pipe? She shook her head before climbing up quickly, propelled by her fear of falling. She vaulted over into the balcony and smirked. "Finally! Room for the ni-...oh, shit." This room was already taken. By whom, she didn't know. She didn't care. All she cared about was that she had wasted five minutes of her time. Unbelievable. She crossed her arms and glowered at the bed six feet away. This sucked. |

"I'd say it's time for us to head in, huh, Foxy?" asked the trainer, with his Eevee playfully agreeing with him. She scampered around in a circle before letting out an "Eeeee!" He also provides food for his Eevee, almost like a beloved pet. There was no doubt he shared a special bond with Foxy. Paying for his tab, he head out into the night en route to his hotel room. Foxy trotted happily beside her trainer but sometimes preferred catching a ride on his shoulder or his head. Pokemon on his bed and bag around his shoulder, he began sliding his room card and slowly head into his room, not knowing he might of had some unexpected company. (Post sucks, bleh. D:) |

The girl's eyes widened as she heard the unmistakeable click of a room key sliding into the lock. Oh. Hell. She looked around anxiously. It was too late and too dangerous to try to escape the room. Then again, she wasn't sure if wanted to stay in the room. If he had just a single Pokémon out of its Pokéball...she'd be discovered almost immediately. That just left one option. As quietly as she could, the girl crept up behind the door. Her palms were sweaty with tension, and her heart was beating quickly again. Wait for it...wait for it...now! When the door opened she leapt out from behind the door and slammed it wide open. Hopefully the sound and her sudden appearance would catch the person off-guard. It was a boy. Around her age. An Eevee with him. Their eyes locked for a second. That was before she shoved him into the wall and bolted again, jumping steps on the staircase. I'm spending way too much time running tonight. I just wanted to sleep in a bed! Is that too much to ask?! |

Jin casually unlocked his room door and walked in. As soon as he opened it, Eevee began growling. She sensed that there was someone else in the room. "What's wrong, girl?" he asked, turning to his beloved Pokemon. When he turned, something caught his eye... A girl..? "Uhh... He-" he awkwardly let out, confused. He could barely get a word out before the girl shoved him to the side and darted out of the room. Jin quickly scanned his room, making sure nothing was gone. He carried most of his belongings with him and rarely left anything in his room, but he didn't want to lose track of the girl either. "Get back here!" he yelled out. He still wasn't fond of someone barging into his room, his own personal space either. Unfortunate for the girl, he was quite athletic. Instead of rushing down the stairs, he would leap railings to the level below and jump down entire sets of stairs, quickly closing the gap between them. As the two barged out of the hotel, Jin had enough of this pursuit. He reached for his belt, readying a Pokeball. Without a second thought, he launched the ball into the air. "Artillery, cut off her path!" Few citizens on the streets witnessed a large white light beginning to overtake the streets. Spawning but a feet feet in front of her, the girl was face-to-face with an impressive sized Steelix, who roared lowly. With her exit blocked, Jin slowly walked up, waiting to see how she'd engage the situation. |

The girl skidded to a stop, her movements not unlike that of a snowboarding angling their board to come to a stop. She straightened up. Unlike some people in the street who cowered fearfully, she simply glared up at the Steelix. It was a long way to glare, but she managed to do it. Quickly, she assessed her situation. The Steelix was big enough and fast enough to block any path. She wouldn't have time to clamber onto a roof. Not that it would do much good; the roofs were spread too far apart. She'd be stuck. She huffed and turned sharply, her hair flying around her. She fixated her cold glare on the boy, raising her chin slightly in challenge. "Well, you cornered me. Congratulations. Give yourself a pat on the back." she scoffed, her voice dripping with icy sarcasm. She refused to appear beaten. She'd simply been sidetracked for the moment. No big deal. She continued her verbal assault, ignoring the curious on-lookers. "What? You going to tie me to a chair? Interrogate me? Bring it on, bad boy." she sneered. |

Intimidation wasn't what Jin was going for. Not like it would of done him any good to begin with. When the girl opened her mouth, it wasn't words he wanted to hear. He was looking for an explanation, which he hadn't received yet. What were you doing in my room to begin with?" he said in an insulting tone, shrugging his shoulders. Of course he wasn't going to attack the girl with his Pokemon. However, if she called one out, all bets were off. |

The girl narrowed her eyes, having a mock staring battle with Jin. When he didn't let up, her scowl slipped into a frown. "...I just finished some business for the night. I wanted to sleep in a bed, since it's kind of cold out. I didn't know that the room was taken. Actually, it screwed up my plans. I was going to leave, but lo and behold, you entered the room. Perfect timing." She kicked the ground softly, scuffing it. She looked back at Jin from under her hat. "Can you call back your little friend so I can go? I'll just move on to the next town and skip sleeping tonight." It might be for the best, anyway. I should really have checked in by now... |

"'Some business', huh?" Jin said, mocking quotations with his fingers. The trainer sighed and rubbed his forehead out of stress, not knowing what to do. "You couldn't just rent a room? You just can't sleep in a room you haven't rented, that's basically stealing," Jin explained in a reasonable tone. He had a couch in his room, which was the best he could offer, but there's no way he was going to trust a random stranger who just tried to hijack his room. He honestly had no idea how to engage the situation but he didn't want her traveling through the night either. |

The girl instantly scowled again. "Yes, some business. If you must know, I just infiltrated the Nexus base nearby. The stolen Pokémon I'm going to return are from the next town. And yes, I'm a thief. I stole money from the grunts. However, I need said money to catch a train ride to the town. I can't waste it on a nice room for one night." She huffed, rubbing her face. She suddenly looked very tired. "Look...I really need to get moving. Move so I can leave. Please." she added, an obvious afterthought. |

"Nexus?" Jin said, scratching his head. "You mean those little thief guys? They didn't seem too threatening to me. I ran into them when I first got here," he explained, finally raising his Pokeball and returning his Steelix. But seeing as she did have money, and possibly a good motive, he figured he might be able to trust her. "You look exhausted.. Use the money, buy a room. I was heading out in the morning, I can give you a ride to the next town," offered the trainer with a shrug. He also hoped to gain some knowledge of Nexus from the girl. Like most teams across the land, they normally had an ultimate goal. The question was, what was the big picture behind Nexus? |

The girl hesitated before nodding. "All right...fine." She started to walk forward, brushing past the boy. She paused for a moment. "...Thanks." The word was obviously foreign to her. She continued walking, her hands in her pockets. ~~~~~ (( Mini time skiiiiiiip~ )) The girl flopped onto the bed, sighing. "Good Loooorrrd." she groaned, hugging a pillow. "This was not what I planned." She looked over at a group of Pokéballs and sighed. "Maybe you can come out tomorrow. I'm worried about leaving you out now..." She frowned at her pillow. "He really doesn't know anything. Lucky..." She then closed her eyes and went to sleep. (( Maybe your post can be in the morning. = P Unless you want to dream about her or something, haha! )) |

Jin watched as the girl entered the hotel and paid for a room. Foxy looked up at him with a questioned look of concern. The trainer knelt down and petted his Pokemon. "I know, girl. But she seems alright," he said, extending his arm so Eevee could run along it. Then the two went to rest for the night themselves. --------- ((-cue morning jingle-)) Jin had already packed his things and exited his room. He was currently downstairs where the hotel offered free continental style breakfasts to it's guests. He was lounging on the floor eating a breakfast sandwich while his Eevee dined on the Pokemon food they provided. He was already bound by his word to give the girl a ride from last night. Jin couldn't help but be a kind person, it's almost in his nature. But he couldn't help but admit it might of been a bad idea to have someone tag along whose name he didn't even know. However, he was comfortable enough with his Pokemon that he could handle a challenge if she tried anything. It was only natural to be cautious but he didn't want to bring up a fight for no reason. All he could do is wait for the girl to awaken for the time being. |

(( -Orange juice commercial- )) Amazingly enough, the girl walked inside the building. She found Jin and crossed her arms, frowning. "I was hoping you were an early riser. I woke up before sunrise. I've been waiting for you since then." She threw away a banana peel before turning back around to face him. "Contrary to the belief of most people, we really don't have all day. The sooner we get moving, the better." |
