The most important meal of the day
|
Rael stared at him with widened yellow eyes as he went on and on with his explanation about who he was. It was too much for her to take in all at once. She sat down on the edge of her bed as if the information were a physical weight and she couldn't bear it. She put a hand on her head. "Oh my God... That can't be true..." Rael processed all the information. He seemed genuine... And how could he possibly make all this up? "How could you possibly make all this up?" Rael asked rhetorically. "I guess you are telling the truth. But how..? This goes against my entire belief system. It all seems so fiction to me." She was grateful, at least, that he had successfully gotten her mind off of the deaths of her only two friends she had ever had. But this was a bit much. "I knew you were different. Special, like me. But this? This isn't right. You don't belong here. You can't be here. It messes everything up, for me." Rael got up and started pacing the room. "So basically you're telling me that even if Belial doesn't kill you--which, trust me, he will try-- then you can't stay and travel with me anyways because you're gonna stay that age and plus you can't stay here anyways? Wow. That makes... Everything better..." Rael said sarcastically. Suddenly, like floodwaters bursting through a dam, all of her despairing feelings came rushing back to her in a wave of sadness. She had revisited the most painful aspect of her past, and now this new information set in on top of it... It was too much for her to handle right now. She was in full-on panic mode. And when Rael panicked, she ran. Also like floodwaters were the tears that poured down her face. She needed to get out of there before she completely lost any shred of dignity she still had. "Is there even a point?" Rael sobbed quietly, trying hard to stop her crying. She looked and felt like a weak crybaby and she hated herself for it. But that only made things worse on the inside. She quickly turned on her heel and ran out of the room, slamming the door behind her. But she wasn't leaving for good, at least not without her stuff that still lay haphazardly on her bed. (((Really bad post, at least I think so. Sorry I'm really tired and distracted right now. The next one will be much better.))) Edited by Breakfast Princess, Jan 24 2013, 09:07 PM.

"I will kill ALL of the Titans!"

Combo could only tighten his lips, as his explanation only made her reaction worse. He probably shouldn't of let it slip that he wouldn't be able to stay and travel with her. His sentient body does age, but there would be the time where Combo would eventually have to travel back to protect his own world. Her reaction, declaring he didn't belong, only cut his spirits. "Raelean, I..." Combo rose to his feet in an attempt to further comfort her, but before he could even reach her, she bolted out of the room. He began gripping his hair in confusion and frustration. What was he supposed to do? Should he chase after her or should he give her time to soak it all in? Who was he kidding? Without a second thought, Combo went soaring out of the door, closing it behind him. Boy, was she quick. She had almost disappeared completely down the hall. "Rael! Wait! Please!" he called in a half whisper, half shout. It was getting late and he didn't want to disturb anyone else but hopefully he could close the gap between them before he lost her. |

The most important meal of the day
|
No. Leave me alone. Rael thought, she also didn't want to say it aloud and disturb other guests. Why was he pursuing her? Couldn't he take a hint? She dove around a corner and ducked into a supply closet, quickly yet quietly closing the door. She decided to hide so he would pass, thinking that she had just run somewhere else. Rael sighed and leaned against a shelf of paper towels and paint cans and other such things. She wiped her eyes and her face with the bottom of her t-shirt. "Gotta stop crying now. You're a big girl," Rael whispered to herself, her speech already becoming monotonous and choppy again. "Well, you told him..." a new voice sounded in the corner of the supply closet. It was completely dark, but even though she couldn't see, Rael knew who it was immediately. She must've been so distraught earlier that she completely missed any presence of demon earlier. His was strong, but she wouldn't be surprised if he could mask his demon presence, either. "What are you doing here you bastard?" Rael asked. Belial just chuckled. His evil voice and laugh filled the small space and threatened to choke her. She had to get out of there. She tried the doorknob but the door was locked. Now she started to panic again, but she'd be damned if she let Belial see that. "And how did that work out for you, Raelean?" Belial asked, his voice sounding closer. Finally he was just inches in front of her. Rael couldn't see, she couldn't escape. She couldn't speak either, or the panic would come tumbling out. Was it her time? Did he come to do away with her? No, he wouldn't do it. Not like this. He would make sure people were watching. He would want to destroy her pride. He would make sure Combo could see. "You know... You and I are a lot alike," Belial started off as if this were a friendly conversation. "You and I both value our independence. We want it to be known. We want to be respected." "We're nothing alike," Rael spat. She wished she could back away but he had her stuck between himself and the shelf. "You've already admitted it to that boy. What more proof do I need?" Belial asked. "You're evil. I'm not. You're a demon and I'm--" Rael began, but he cut her off. "You're what? An angel?" Belial threw his head back and laughed. Rael clenched her fists. He was hitting a very sore spot. "Is that what you think you are? Oh Raelean. You're a human. That's all you are. A weak pathetic human playing pawn for the heavens. Look at you... You're pathetic." Rael attempted to punch him in the face, but Belial grabbed her fist and twisted her arm around her back, turning her around and ramming her face into the shelves. Rael grimaced. "You shouldn't act out of emotion, my dear," he purred in her ear. Rael attempted to kick him. He just squeezed her arm so hard that she felt it would break. She knew he was capable of breaking bones with little effort. She knew that for a fact. She was forced to stop. "You should know this by now. That's what got your little friends killed. And it will get your new friend killed. And any other friend you try to make in the future will be killed. Just stop trying. I will not allow you to have anyone in your life. You will be alone. You must. Just like me..." Belial sounded determined yet amused, as if he were explaining some fun fantastic game for them to play. Rael struggled hard this time, jerking around like a fish out of water, but Belial didn't let up his grip. "Remember what I said about killing you?" Rael asked, still struggling fiercely, "That will happen before you kill anyone else." Belial laughed again. "Let me know when you've figured out how to do that..." And as quickly as he came, he was gone. Rael was alone in the supply closet again. She wondered if she had been alone in there before. Belial was probably waiting for her. He was a sneaky bastard. Rael rubbed her arm gently were Belial had been squeezing it. Already her arm was bruising, and would probably be dark purple or blue by the time she decided to leave. Rael sat on the ground and held her head in her hands. She would stay in there all night if she needed to. She just needed to be alone. Maybe she'd be lucky and Combo would leave. Leave for good, leaving her behind and taking her worries with him. Rael tried the doorknob and found that it was unlocked now. But she let her arm fall back to her side. She wasn't ready to leave just yet. Edited by Breakfast Princess, Jan 25 2013, 10:59 AM.

"I will kill ALL of the Titans!"

Combo was adept in detecting energy signatures, however, he could not search for a signature he was unfamiliar with. Though he had been in contact with Rael, he hadn't been struck by her energy, so he was unable to sense where she went. Also, he couldn't detect Belial's presence either, seeing as he didn't arrive in the same rifts as normal demons. Unfortunately, he did lose track of Raelean. However, like they were in an emotional unison, Combo could feel her distress and anger. He still felt he was the reason, so he stood lost in the hallway. Combo had no idea what to do, but he'd never felt distress like this but one time before. Back on his home world, he had a friend named Ariel. The two were incredibly close, friends since they were children. She was the closest thing Combo ever knew to affection. His father was never around and his mother worked when he was typically at school but was often saddened by his father's neglect. Him and Ariel almost shared an intimate moment the night that he.. moved on. Nothing hurt him the most having to watch her cry and mourn his passing for years. "Rael.. Please.. Just talk to me.. he let out with a sorrowful voice. Combo couldn't go looking for her around a city he didn't know how to navigate. Now he did regret telling her about him. It showed that she truly did care when she was saddened that Combo would eventually be leaving one day. For now, all he could do is trudge back to the room with a defeated spirit. |

The most important meal of the day
|
Rael stayed in the closet for hours. She knew this because she occassionally checked her invisible watch. Her neck and back began to ache. When she finally stood up to leave, her back cracked in several places. Just as she reached for the doorknob, an older man dressed in what she assumed was a janitor's outfit opened the door and jumped back, clearly startled. "Sorry." Rael said. "What are you doing here?" the janitor asked her. "Hungover," Rael lied, stepping out of the supply closet. "What are you doing here?" "I'm part of the night crew," the janitor answered. "What time is it?" Rael asked, because her invisible watch was terrible at telling her the time. Maybe because it didn't exist. "Almost 1 in the morning," the janitor replied, but Rael was already walking away. She knew she didn't want to go back to the room just yet. So she instead headed downstairs. A little past the lobby was the only thing she knew was going to be open: the bar. Rael entered the establishment and sat down at one of the barstools. The bartender ignored her because she was clearly not old enough. Her round face and big eyes made her look younger than almost-19. It didn't matter to Rael. She didn't drink, and didn't even want to drink. She just wanted somewhere to sit where the atmosphere and ambience could help her stray from her dismal thoughts. Before long, a man maybe in his mid-twenties, wearing a suit with the collar undone and the jacket slung over his shoulder, sat next to Rael. "Hey," he said, and it was clear he had been drinking a lot. Rael flashed him the peace sign by way of greeting. "Can I get you a drink?" he asked, his words slurring. Rael thought about it, and then nodded. The man grinned and motioned to the bartender for a drink. When he got it, he handed it to Rael. Rael just stared at it. "You're supposed to drink it, not look at it," the drunk man laughed. "Cut him off. He's had enough," Rael called to the bartender, who nodded. Rael finally drank her fruity little drink, one of those brightly colored girly ones. When she was done, she got up to leave. "Hey wait, what's your name?" the drunk man called after her. "I'm 18, be careful who you buy drinks for," Rael said without even turning around. That drink was nothing, the alcohol content was low. It would've done nothing except calm her nerves from the evening's dramatic events. Well that was a waste of time. She never should've went down there. Never again. It actually made her more annoyed than she was in the first place, on top of all the other stuff she was feeling. Rael got back to her and Combo's shared room, she unlocked it and slowly opened the door. She didn't know if Combo was awake or not, but either way she quietly closed the door and walked lightly to her bed. She didn't feel like talking to him, or anybody. |

"I will kill ALL of the Titans!"
|
Combo didn't know what to expect or when she'd even get back. He stood completely frozen in emotion, staring out of the window for an hour. But he needed some fresh air, and somewhere to think. So Combo had retreated to the top of the hotel. Maybe the cool night air could clear his mind. Being the lavish hotel it was, upstairs consisted of calming lights and a relaxing garden, bolstering a variety of flowers and bushes to bring life to the roof of the hotel. The night air rushed around Combo, instantly calming him. It certainly had been a long day, but he decided to spend an extended amount of time here. Until two in the morning, in fact. While on the roof, he did some evaluating of his events on Earth so far. Not just Rael in general, though she seemed to be the only thing on his mind no matter what he tried to think of. Why couldn't he stop thinking about her? Her sweet smile, those yellow eyes that shined like gold to him, knowing deep down how genuine a girl she is. It was hopeless, he wasn't going to get her off of his mind any time soon. "Id this what love is...?" Suddenly, a small disturbance ripped open on the opposite side of the roof from the fighter. Combo turned and met a tall, feral creature that snarled at him. This demon feeds off of emotional despair, and Combo had plenty of that going for him right now. This disturbance was a pretty big one too. The demons seemed to be getting stronger and stronger nowadays. There's no way Rael could ignore this rift. Combo began cracking his knuckles. "Oh boy, this is NOT the time. I'm having a BAD day..." The demon snarled in response, getting into a stalking stance on all fours. Even in this stance, it's immaculate muscles and towering body was greater than Combo's. Without hesitation, it began charging the only living thing in it's vicinity. "So.. There's this girl I've been travelling with." Loading his hand back like a gun, he fired a multi-hitting strike that he'd been trademarked for directly at the visceral monster. The punch hit it's mark, sending sounds of attacks ringing into the night air. The demon skid across the ground before regaining it's composure and charged once again. "She's a beautiful gal too. Nice eyes, gorgeous smile. If only she wore it more, heh. But boooy, does she have an attitude..." He continued having a conversation with this destructive creature as if it could understand. But as his sorrow grew, the monster grew stronger. Though, it didn't seem like the tide was turning at all. Combo still brushed it aside and continued talking. He didn't have any friends here he could talk to besides the one that ran away from him. The distressed combatant continued rambling on with the demon for a few minutes. Sure, he could of eliminated it already, but he found some sort of emotional release from it as well. "Underneath that attitude, I know there's a sweet girl. I've seen it already." Combo delivered a spinning kick directly to the jaw of the beast that, in turn, made it's jaw go limp. The fighter's emotions continued to fall as the beast's anger rose. "Manus Arma," spoke Leon, clenching his fist as it sparked with a red. With a final roar, it brought up it's front claw and swatted at it's source of anger. Combo leapt into the air above the claw, driving his empowered fist into the jaw of the beast. The violent demon dropped onto the roof, defeated. Slowly it began to disintegrate in thin air. "And I think I love her..." Could this be true? Combo had no idea what love was, being the 'wise god' he was. Nor did he ever have the chance to experience it. Maybe he was jumping the gun on this, but it's not like his mind could maintain a good focus recently. In the meantime, the victor pulled the iconic black chalk from his pocket and began to properly seal the hellish rift, utilizing his flawless observation and memorization skills. For now, he thought he'd stay on the rooftop and look into the night sky. No matter where he was, he always knew where his beloved Senryuu was. Combo basked in the glow of the moon as time continued to pass. |

The most important meal of the day

(((Okay WARNING this is a really reallllyyy long post. It basically tells the story of Hadriel, Dacia, and Belial, at least, most of it. Combo will be finding out this entire story in my next post, so don't worry. I just wanted to type it now because.. well you'll see! )))Normally, strong demonic presences would rouse Rael from her sleep, like the demon soldiers had back at the inn in the small town. But being physically and mentally exhausted, Rael was sleeping heavier than a rock and could not be awakened. One could even say that she was too entranced by her dream, enjoying it too much, to be woken up. It was more of a memory than a dream, at least the beginning was. The ending was more like a nightmare. She was seeing old times with her and Hadriel and Dacia. She smiled in her sleep. Raelean, Hadriel and Dacia sat in a lush field, on top of a hill to be exact. They sat on a small blanket and had food spread out in front of them. They were laughing and talking, and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Rael, especially, looked different. The smile never left her face, except when she went to eat, and she was joking just as much as the other two. In this memory, they had known each other for only about half a year, but they were as tight as ever. Raelean had on her usual all-white outfit, but she looked a lot less serious and well, badass in a frilly white halter romper, white sandals, and her hair in a ponytail. Hadriel was one of those boys who looked a little older than he actually was. At 17, he was half an inch taller than the girls and had defined muscles. He had this dark grey hair, straight hair that reached almost to his shoulders, and bright green eyes. He wore a simple grey t-shirt and dark, baggy jeans with sneakers. Dacia was small and petite, shorter than Rael but about her same body type. She had long, straight blood-red hair and the most peculiar eyes that always looked green in one light and blue in another. She wore a dark pink blouse and a light pink skirt with white tennis shoes. She didn't look battle-ready but she was an excellent fighter. They all were. "Hey, since we, yknow, fight demons and stuff..." Dacia began through a mouthful of food, "Shouldn't we have a name?" "What do you mean 'we'?" Raelean scoffed. She still had her classic mechanical way of talking, but there was actual emotion in her voice. "Don't you mean: 'Rael fights the demons while we sit there and watch?'" "Oh please," the boy, Hadriel, chimed in. "Don't you remember how we even met? You were getting your skinny ass handed to you by that giant beetle thing and we jumped in and saved you!" "True heroes!" Dacia added. "Whatever..." Raelean rolled her eyes, "You know I don't like bugs." "Big bad Raelean doesn't like little bugs?" Hadriel teased. "Little?! That thing was as big as a bus!" Raelean exclaimed, remembering how she almost got eaten by the giant bus-sized demon beetle right before she met those two. "Anyways!" Dacia said exasperatedly, "A name! We need a team name!" "Says who?" Raelean asked. "Me! So I was thinking--" Dacia tried to begin but was cut off. "Oh she's been thinking this oughtta be good..." Hadriel stage-whispered to Raelean, who snickered behind her palm. The two shared a high-five as Dacia sweatdropped. Truthfully, Dacia was very smart, almost as smart as Rael, but not quite as street smart. She could be naive and gullible sometimes. "The Titanium Triumverate!" Dacia exclaimed proudly. Raelean and Hadriel looked down at their food in a bad attempt to hide their faces and try not to burst out in laughter. "You know... 'Cus we're so strong and can't be beaten?" Dacia tried to explain, but it was too late. Hadriel and Raelean rolled around in the grass, beating their fists against the ground, erupting into fits of uncontrollable laughter. Dacia looked sad, but she couldn't keep that up. Her friends antics were too funny, and she couldn't stay mad at them for long. "Oh forget you guys..." she mumbled, but they couldn't hear her over their laughing. Rael was a completely different person. These people brought out the best in her. That dream faded out suddenly, showing Rael a new, much less happy scene. They were in a dense forest somewhere, half a year later. They all looked a little different and a little older. They were fighting Belial and his minions, and losing badly. They were bruised, battered, and bleeding. Dacia's shoulder was dislocated and Hadriel was pretty sure his jaw was broken. Rael was holding up the best, but that's because she had the advantage. She had given all of her saved up Darma to help heal Dacia and Hadriel but she had run out. They had nothing else to do now but run. "Give up, Raelean!" Belial cackled, thoroughly enjoying the scene. He had hardly done any work, it was his minions who had given them such a thorough beating. They were monsters, almost resembling trolls, but they were strong. "You peons won't win against me." "Shut up!" Rael charged at Belial with her silver crucifix ready to blast him away. But one of his minions popped up out of the ground and tossed her backwards. Rael sprang up and blasted that minion instead. Then she springboarded off of its corpse before it could disappear and used that momentum to charge at Belial. She went for a roundhouse kick to the face, but he was too fast. Belial grabbed her ankle with one hand and her knee in the other, and with hardly any effort he snapped her leg as she dangled there. That pain was the worst Rael had even experienced. She howled in pain as Belial effortlessly broke her leg and then dropped her to the ground. Her broken leg slammed against the ground, sending fresh waves of pain shooting through her. She was in agony, curled up on the ground, but there was no escape from it. "RAEL!" Hadriel bellowed, pushing past minions and running towards her. Dacia followed close behind. But they weren't allowed near her. They were quickly surrounded by minions until they were back to back, weilding their holy weapons ready for one last push for survival. Hadriel weilded a shiny silver and blue longsword and Dacia a small shield and short battle axe. They fought as best they could, but they were outnumbered and overwhelmed. Soon, their weapons were wrenched from their grasps. "Now watch, my dear, as your only friends in this entire world are killed right in front of your eyes. You are helpless and useless and...let's face it...the reason they will die." Belial kneeled down beside her, but Rael couldn't fight him. She couldn't even stand, she could barely move. She felt like she was seconds from passing out. But Rael couldn't take her watering eyes off of her friends, who were just as helpless as she was. Belial's minions beat the unarmed kids mercilessly, they couldn't fight back. Finally, they were both collapsed on the ground, having lost a lot of blood mere moments from losing consciousness. Belial then stood up slowly and approached them casually. "Belial! Leave them alone!" Rael roared with all the ferocity she could muster. But her next words were quiet and weak. "Please...me...instead." Belial just shook his head and let out a small chuckle. "Not this time, my dear Raelean. Not this time." He held out his hands and in them appeared two thick stakes made of dark purple energy. Hadriel used the last of his strength to wordlessly reach his hand up towards Belial as if pleading for mercy. Dacia didn't move, but her eyes were wide open and terrified. Without a second thought, Belial dent down and rammed the stakes through the sides of Dacia and Hadriel's necks, running them straight through. Hadriel's arm fell down heavily. They each gasped and sputtered, trying for air but getting nothing but blood. The horrible rasping sounds would haunt Rael forever. "No!" Rael cried as she tried to crawl towards them. They were only yards away, but she couldn't move that much. The deed was done. Their blood pooled around their corpses and mingled. Rael was in a state of severe shock, having witnessed this. Her chest heaved as she tried to breathe, but found herself choking along with her friends. When it was quite clear that they were dead, Rael closed her eyes tight, trying to imagine that this was all just a dream. Belial walked back over to her, staring down at her with an amused look. "Did you enjoy that Raelean? I hope you did. I put on that show just for you." Rael sobbed, unable to contain it any longer. She buried her face in the grass and made no indication that she had heard Belial. He frowned and bent down next to her. "Don't despair, my dear. Now we can be the same... Wouldn't you like that?" he asked, stroking the top of her head. Rael continued sobbing into the grass, ignoring him completely. "What a waste. Stupid girl," Belial mumbled, sounding offended and sorely disappointed. He stood up quickly. "Minions, disperse! Take those bodies with you," he commanded. Two of the troll-like demons grabbed Dacia and Hadriel's bodies, and then they all disappeared. "Until next time, Raelean. Enjoy your newfound solitude..." Belial said, bowing graciously to her. She still retained the same posture, sobbing with her face buried into the ground. He swiftly kicked her in the head, knocking her unconscious. She would not wake up until late the next day. Rael's eyes shot open in the dark. She was back in her hotel room. Wait, she had never left, it was all just a dream. She was drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. She sat up quickly, as if expecting Belial to be in the room with her. Or maybe Hadriel and Dacia. It was all so clear to her. The memory of their picnic on the hill. That was one of their happiest days. They didn't run into a single demon that day. But it was all over. Dacia and Hadriel were dead. Rael brushed her bangs off her head, sighing deeply. The sun was beginning to peek over the horizon. Rael looked at the bedside alarm clock and saw that it was almost 6 am. She wondered if Combo was still asleep, but she wasn't going to check. She laid back down, wrapping herself in the huge fluffy blanket like a cocoon, and stared out the window. But she was done sleeping. There would be no more of that for the day. "I will kill ALL of the Titans!"
|
Sunrise. It had been a long and emotional night hasn't it. Combo wasn't sure if Raelean had even returned to the room to rest yet, but he certainly didn't. This was especially dangerous, because Combo fully healed and recharged when he was asleep. He definitely wouldn't fair well against a powerful demon. He'd ultimately have to expend more of his Purus Crystal and shortening his time on Earth. With the addition of the recent stress, Combo looked slightly different. Without resting to gather his strength, he was oddly woozy. Black bags began to take form under his half-open eyes. If he was to talk, he would most likely sound as if he had been drinking through the evening. It was extremely more vital to him than the average person. At this point, he figured he should try to rest, if it was even possible. The poor guy had so much on his mind. Not to mention he reminisced about his life back on Senryuu almost every day. The life he had before he was murdered.. Combo trudged down the hall, keeping his focus on making it back to his. Finally reaching the room, it took a few tries, but he was able to scan his room key and open the door to his room, finding Rael hugged into her blanket. His heart jumped slightly, not knowing how their next interaction would be. Guessing she was sleep, his feet dragged along the room's carpeting until he met his bed with his knees and lazily falling over. He wasn't sleep, but it wouldn't take long for that to change. |

The most important meal of the day
|
Rael sat up when she heard Combo come in. She unwrapped herself from the blanket and walked over to his side of the room. "You're just now getting here?" she asked, sounding perplexed. When she had come in late last night, the lights were off so she hadn't been able to see if he was in bed or not. She guessed the lights were on some kind of timer to save the hotel on the electricity bill. She had been to some inns like that. "Where were you. You look terrible. Did you even sleep." She sounded like her usual self, kind of cold and rough. All the emotion from yesterday had been purged, at least, so it seemed. Rael went to the bathroom and gathered up all the dirty clothes and towels in there. She looked n the small bathroom closet but found nothing but more towels and toiletries. She looked in the cabinet under the sink and found a small foldable laundry basket. There we go. She put on the robe, figuring that Combo wouldn't care enough to see this embarassing and revealing sight anyhow. And she doubted any of the hotel guests were up roaming the halls, and she didn't care what the hotel staff thought of her. She put all the dirty laundry, including her sweat-soaked pajamas, in the basket she found and then headed for the door. "I have a few things to do. Check out isn't until noon. So you still have quite awhile to sleep. That isn't an option. I'm telling you to. However. Before we leave. I have something I need to tell you." With that Rael left the room, carrying the basket with her. With some help from the bronze-plated signs stuck to the walls, she found her way to a laundry room. She supposed this was only for hotel laundry, but she didn't care. She started the load and then headed back upstairs. When she got back to the room, she was extra quiet because she assumed that Combo was either asleep or getting there. Either way, she had nothing to say at this point. She took a quick bath and then put the robe back on. The usual, combing the hair and brushing the teeth and putting lotion on. When she was done she went to switch the clothes to the dryer. Then she killed time lounging in the room pretending to watch TV with the volume all the way down. Then she went to get the clothes. Then she got dressed. This morning was boring to her. She wasn't used to doing home stuff like this. Sure she did it whenever she stopped in a town, but some people did it every day and she didn't see how they could stay sane. It was all so mundane and annoying. She wished she could hire a maid that would only appear when needed and do all this crap for her. Rael looked at her nonexistent watch, and then looked at the bedside alarm clock. It was 8 am now. She went down to the hotel's breakfast area and got a tray full of assorted breakfast foods for her and Combo. She just pretty much got a couple servings of everything they had, so she had some trouble getting back into the room without spilling anything. She set the heavy tray down on the small table that was in between the door and the TV. It had a coffee maker on it, a stackk of paper cups, and a couple magazines. Rael ignored all this. She liked coffee but didn't know how to work the coffee machine. The tray had an assortment of breakfast items including eggs and bacon, mini cereals, pancakes and waffles, fruit salad in little cups, yogurt, bagels and muffins, sausages, and packets of sugar and butter and syrup. She also brought cartons of juice and milk and a couple bottles of water. It was quite a lot but she knew that Combo had a huge appetite. Hopefully he would wake up before it got cold but they stopped serving breakfast in the hotel at 9:30 and by then most of the food would've been gone. So she was glad she went and got it then. She started picking at the tray, eating a few things, but she wasn't that hungry. She knew she would be later so she forced herself to eat more. She sat in the chair facing the window, and did her favorite thing there was to do in this hotel: stare out of it. |

"I will kill ALL of the Titans!"
|
Combo was already in a daze. By the time Raelean opened her mouth, it was too late. The words passed through Combo's ears but he was far too tired to register them, he was already out like a light. But Rael wasn't the only one who could have bad dreams. Combo was one of five Gods from his home world, but they all followed under another divine being known as "The Headmaster". However, the other Gods were the closest things he had to family. Well, three of them anyway. One of the Gods contested the rest and was not only Combo's nemesis, but his murderer as well. His name was Brago and he was a very powerful master of shadow and dark energy bending, on a completely other level. Combo's main fear was leaving and returning home and find that Brago would of gained control of Senryuu in his absence. Brago was able to create his own army of dark servants that the other Gods battled against. During his nightmare, Rael's words kept haunting him. "You don't belong here..." . . . . . . . "You don't belong here..." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ."You don't belong here..." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "You don't belong here..." . . ."You don't belong here..." . . . . . . . . "You don't belong here..." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "You don't belong here..." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "You don't belong here..." Could her words be true? Does he really not belong here? Maybe he should ignore his mission and stay at Senryuu. This wasn't the first time Combo was on Earth, as the Senryuuian Gods have an outpost located on Earth. If these were Brago's forces attempting to gain control of the outpost, that was what Combo was there for. These weren't Brago's forces but they still had the potential to destroy the planet, along with their outpost. The divine fighter couldn't allow that to happen. In the midst of his nightmare, he was haunted by darkness. Though he was a God, he was still young. He was not mature in his divinity just yet nor would he ever be if he maintained a fear of his past events. But in the meantime, these dark memories were enough to wake him from his brief slumber, being greeted by a serene blue light that read "9:37 A.M." on a shelf. Combo's eyes shot open before returning to an almost empty stare. Barely three complete hours of sleep wasn't enough to fully replenish him for the day, but the smell of food was keeping him from returning to sleep. He sat up in his bed, still with a weakened look. More importantly was the person sitting on the opposite side of it, awkwardly locking eyes for the first time since their emotional outpour. Could there even be any words to share between them? ((Sleepy post, lol)) |

The most important meal of the day
|
"You're awake now?" Rael asked, "Eat this food before it gets all gross." She casually sipped on some juice. Her demeanor and tone of voice told that she had completely forgotten about the events of yesterday and last night, but that wasn't true at all. She was just very practiced in keeping it all under wraps. "Did you sleep well? You talk in your sleep. Don't you? You probably didn't hear anything I said before. Did you? Doesn't matter. I have something to tell you. Or rather. Show you," Rael spoke. She craned her neck to look at the alarm clock. "We still have time. You can eat. Wash up. Whatever. And I can still show you." "I will kill ALL of the Titans!"

((SHORT POSTS? F--- THE POLICE.)) Combo blankly stared at Rael, not knowing how to react. It seemed like she just wanted to blow the whole thing out of the water. But the news she had to share probably related to the events in some way, so he just decided to get some food in him for the time being. Combo rose to his feet off the bed in a groggy manner. He trudged over to the table and joined his monotonous comrade. It certainly was a lot of food. Combo had no idea where to start. Actually, that was a lie. He knew exactly where to start as soon as he saw a stack of pancakes resting in front of him. The fighter could easily convince himself his sentient body could survive off of steak and pancakes. He grabbed the stack of pancakes, along with a plate of eggs and bacon.. A plate of sausages.. Along with a fruit cup.. And waffles? Why not? He might as well of grabbed one of everything. Despite his obvious appetite, he wasn't eating with the same vigor his new friend knew him for. Combo didn't want to eat in silence, and it was obvious there would be some conflict between the two. Without looking up from his food, he said, "What'd you want to tell me?" |

The most important meal of the day

Rael simply shook her head. She took a fruit cup herself. Then set it back down. She was full now. "Everything." That was her answer. She turned her head and stared at the wall. "Just finish eating first." Her eyes flashed a brighter yellow than they were, but only for a brief moment. It would've been hard to catch. They sat in silence, well, she did, anyways, while he ate. Finally, she grew impatient. "Are you done now?" she asked, but didn't wait for a reply. Instead she got up suddenly and walked over to him. Her eyes flickered bright yellow again. Her hands began glowing with a pale gold-white energy. "This won't hurt. Don't worry," she said as she rested her glowing hands on his head. This was an ability she had learned shortly after she met Hadriel and Dacia. She could transfer things into another person's mind, as long as it was positive. She could not use this ability in an attempt to corrupt their mind. If they took the transferred information badly, well, that was on them. She could give them her thoughts, memories, even dreams. It might have been a surprise to Combo, but there were a lot of abilities she had yet to show off, and a lot he didn't know about her. This one in particular wasn't even that hard to do. She just rarely ever found an opportunity or even a reason to do it. Nothing physically would happen to him. It would just seem as if he were remembering these things or dreaming them up himself. He would see the entire dream that Rael had the previous night--the picnic on the hill, laughing with her old friends, all up until fighting Belial and his minions, seeing him break her leg, seeing him kill her friends. She also gave him other memories, as if she didn't know when to stop. They would flash through his mind quickly, and in no particular order. He would see the time Rael met Hadriel and Dacia: her fierce fight with the giant demon beetle, her near loss, them jumping in and saving her. He would see them getting their first holy weapons. Walking around and talking. Fighting lower-class demons and rejoicing as they got Karma and Darma. Rael looking at Hadriel with an obvious look of admiration and adoration. It was clear that she liked him very much. But he would also see that Hadriel and Dacia were always much closer than Rael was to Hadriel. Rael and Dacia would whisper to each other late in the night when Hadriel was asleep, but they couldn't fall asleep. But when neither Hadriel or Dacia was paying attention, Rael would always shoot them a look of pure jealousy. Rael was fully aware that she couldn't compete with their bond, it was evident by the look on her face. Images like this would flash through Combo's mind. He would know everything--how they met, how they went about traveling with each other, and how they died. Hopefully Rael wouldn't have to explain it all. |

Combo had a curious expression on his face when Rael suddenly stood to her feet and extended her hand to him. He knew her intentions weren't to harm him but he still didn't understand what she was trying to do. He had an odd expression on his bad when he felt her hand slide onto his back and firmly press hold. Suddenly, images and memories began rushing into his head. This surprised him greatly because he definitely wasn't expecting this. But he could see it all, so vividly at that. He learned of her struggles, her peace, her battles, and her tribulations, all as if he was there when it happened. Certainly convenient, definitely cut down the time it'd take for Raelean to explain all of this. After the flash of knowledge ended, Combo had no idea how to react. Before he took the time to absorb all of the knowledge, he first turned to Rael. "Thank you.. for sharing.." he let out. "We'd be here for days if I had to share everything I had to offer. Sadly, I don'y possess that same skill you do." Combo drifted off into thought, analyzing all of the new memories he was presented with. Occasionally smiling faintly and the smile disappearing just as fast as it came. It was pretty obvious that he was thinking deeply about these thoughts. "Hadriel and Dacia were great people. I could tell you cared about them. Dacia didn't seem too have too many wits about her at times, though," he shared with a chuckle, speaking as if he was actually there. "Belial is going to regret doing what he did... Trust me..." He let out a final sigh. "I don't think there's anything else you want to know about me, is there?" |

The most important meal of the day

Rael got a dreamy look as she focused her eyes past him, a faint smile forming on her face. "Dacia certainly could have her blonde moments. Even though she had red hair. But she was like a peace mediator. She kept me and Hadriel in line. Hadriel was such a hot-head. He never liked to listen to what I had to say. Because he thought he should lead. Not me. But he was so strong and courageous... It would be nice to see them again. One more time." Rael suddenly snapped out of it and the pleasant look on her face was gone. She sat back in her chair. "I suppose there are a few more things you probably should tell me. But we don't have time for that. Besides. You've already told me the most important thing right? That you can't stay. That's all I need to know." With that Rael got up and started going around the room, packing up all of her stuff. "Belial will pay for what he has done. You're right about that. But this is my fight. It must end by my hand." Rael turned to Combo and gave him a stern look. "Hurry up and do what you need to do. You don't have very long. I want to get out of here."
