Uh I don't really remember a lot of stages from the old Sonic games.. Lemme think of some more recent ones... Most of Knuckles'/Amy's stages in SA, can't really be specific. All of Eggman's stages in SA2 (just button mashing and jumping, really). Cool Edge and that night Chun-Nan stage in Sonic Unleashed. Darn, those are the only games I've played recently.

Of course, I did finish it at sometime, but I mean, more recent. But this isn't about the most hardest levels. This is about the most easiest levels. I'm not really sure what to say about that, I found almost all levels in the Sonic the Hedgehog series frustrating and overall hard. But, I'd have to say that it was the last level in Sonic R, playing as the Tails Doll or Amy. Amy may be the most slowest character in Sonic R alongside Doctor Robotnik and the Tails Doll. I think that when the games creators designed the character skill levels, I think they thought that users would only play as default characters, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, or Knuckles. Although they were partly correct, the skill level of all unlockable characters in the game (Partly, just Super Sonic) against any of the default characters or characters with lower skill level then Super Sonic, are not going to win. And, I think it is impossible to win with Amy personally. Perhaps, the rumours of people dying winning the game with Tails Doll are true. Because, you could, most likely, die, in attempt of beating it. And if you did, you'd most likely end up having a heart attack.

It was only hard when you were trying to get an S rank.

I'd also say Windy Valley from SA1, especially when you're up in the air.

As for Sonic 2, my choice for easiest level is one that no one else is going to say. A stage that gives everyone else a bit of grief. Freaking. Metropolis Zone. No, this isn't a joke. On a normal playthrough of Sonic 2 I can get through all three acts of that zone at the cost of only a couple lives. The boss is the only part I struggle with. I lose more lives in Emerald Hill Act 1.
