I was thinking there could be a place for shamelessly advertising things you want to get started on or need help with. For example, an indie movie project, an indie game project, a Facebook page that you want more likes on, a novelty tumblr account, a novelty twitter account, an off-topic website, merchandise, and so on. This is just an idea though and may be a bad one. If it's considered, just do with it what you will. (:

The purpose of this board has always been to just talk about Sonic and other stuff here, not for advertisements. You could just place those links in your signature anyway (gathering that you're a contributing member and not here solely for advertising).

If you are looking for help on a project you could use Station Square Hangout, However advertising merchandise and other websites have never been allowed here with the exception of other forums which can also be advertised in your signature. For example last night I ran a livestream; it went well but part of that was down to having successfully built up a decent reputation here; if I was someone who'd just joined and tried the same thing I imagine it wouldn't have gone quite so well. Also, any long-serving member of the forums will know that if they want to advertise, the facilities are already in place for such threads to appear. You just gotta know where to look.

I was thinking they'd have to have a certain number of posts and amount of time spent here before they could do anything. But you guys are correct. The DIY way is much more interesting anyhow.
