Most Frustrating Levels in the Series?

I think this topic speaks for itself. What level really annoys you? What level is the one that makes you rage quit the game at times? This is the topic to rant about them.

I should start this off with the ever classic Carnival Night Zone. And no, it's not The Barrel I have a problem with. That thing I think is only annoying when you don't know what to do. Once you figure it out, it becomes the easiest thing in the world to bypass. There are things that are far worse - like those stupid bumpers that send you back in narrow hallways so you are constantly trying to think of ways to get past but everything you try sends you backwards over and over again and you have to time things just right to get through. And even that doesn't really help you. There are other things I have an issue with, but that's one of the main things wrong with it to me. I also hate this one area where if you fall off a certain part, you end up being quite a ways back from where you had falling from. And since the game runs on a time limit, you can see how this can be rather annoying.

Meteor Herd in SA2. Not just any of the missions, the second mission. Just try to collect 100 rings with those large meteors hurdling at you every second. Nowhere in the level is safe. And if you slow down for one second, just one ... BAM! You're hit and you have to start all over. Good luck A ranking that!

Ugh, yeah... that part where you have to use Rocket to push the platforms up, is just the worst. Got stuck there for so long. xD

I think I own you all.

Shadow the Hedgehog's Cosmic Fall. I spent WEEKS trying to beat it. If you miss even one jump in one of the falling platform sections, your run is over.
Oh. My. Gwad. This level killed me!

Silver Castle Zone from Sonic Blast.
And Green Hill Zone Act 3 from Sonic 2 8-bit.
Death Egg in Sonic 3 & Knuckles used to rustle my jimmies, but it's pretty easy to me now.

Mad Space in SA2 is also a tough level. Scratch that, every space level in SA2 qualifies!

I thought Sonic and Shadow's final levels (Final Rush and whatever Shadow's was) were easy, I use them for getting Chaos Drives sometimes.
Which version of SA2 did you play, because glitches on Dolphin and Keyboard control on the PC made them tougher for me.
But on the GC version, I thought it was nice.

Though I gotta say, Crazy Gadget confused me the first time I played it. I never knew how to get through the final part, so I took this really impossible shortcut using the borders of the platforms as floors. Years later I know the normal way to do it. It helped in the fourth mission though.

Man, Knuckles "Collect 100 Rings" mission in space was tough because all these meteors kept falling on me...

I played the GC version. Final Rush/Chase wasn't that bad for me either normally, but the other missions are pretty tough. As for Crazy Gadget, yeah I have yet to A rank that. And "Collect 100 Rings" for Meteor Herd will always be my biggest challenge. You cannot slow down for anything if you don't want to get hit.

I honestly don't see what's so frustrating about Lost World. ;P The only problem I had in that level was the area where you had to walk on the glowing walls. And even then it wasn't really that bad.

But unlike the rest of Sonic's stages you can't just slide by that part quickly. It's like they make you take your time. Anymore today I get deaths out of that stage only in SA.

As for the Final Rush/Chase and Crazy Gadget, they were hard for me at first. I didn't like the idea of railings either at the time. In both stages they're about choosing the right paths and shortcuts, remembering landmarks in the stage and knowing where lives are. I just played through Crazy Gadget many times until I got the hang of it. The frustration mostly comes from the part towards the end where you have to walk across the colored blocks with the gravity changing.

Oh yeah, I just remembered this; Any Team Chaotix mission in Heroes where you have to defeat ALL the enemies or collect ALL the keys, or blow out ALL the torches. If you miss one thing, you have to go ALL the way back to the beginning of the level. And anyone who has played Heroes knows those stages are long. I don't blame you if you spend half an hour on a Chaotix stage because you missed a few things.

I find Team Dark more frustrating. There are a few stages e.g. Frog Forest where you need to go through it at least three times because there are so few enemies on the stage.

Haha, I remember being stuck on the Special Chaotix mission for Lost Jungle because I could never find all the Chao. I did clear it eventually, along with all the missions. Albeit, some of them I cheated through, since I had (and still have) a GC AR and got bored.

To answer the question, Heroes itself had some pretty infuriating levels, namely Lost Jungle, Mystic Mansion, and Final Fortress. I remember doing a run on Team Sonic's story and recording each death throughout the run to see which stage I died on the most, in third place came Mystic Mansion, then Final Fortress, and then Lost Jungle was the winner, which I believe had a grand total of eleven deaths. I swear, if those stages weren't so goddamn infuriating, I would love Heroes.

You won't get much closer, 'till you sacrifice it all.
I remember the crocodile part in Sonic Heroes being an absolute bitch to complete, along with some of the Team Chaotix missions.

Also pretty much the entire of Sonic 06 due it's glitchy crappiness, specifically the areas of stages where Sonic had to "speed up." :L
