I looked 15+ Pages back and couldn't find a thread on it, so I decided to make one. Tell us some memorable moments you had while playing the game. Discuss the subtle nature of the lore! Faff off! Where are you guys at? What's your Soul Level? Got any funny names for classes? I can answer those. Anor Londo, Level 20, Faith Knight. I'm running around like a goofball because I don't want to beat Drake and Josh just yet. It's been four months. I spend most of my time in The Painted World. I bought the DLC and I can't even get to it, too! I'm just too fond of goofing off, I guess! I was thinking about opening the flood gates to New Londo and giving those Four Kings a shot. I've got a scythe, Elite Knight armor, and I don't want to Skeleton Wheels right now. My main complaint with the game is that I can't do ninja flips anymore in Black Iron armor and it makes me so very sad. I used to scare SO MANY PEOPLE just by the power of NINJA FLIPS (And also not stopping), it was so great. |

Never played it. I have Demons Souls but considering I have made so little progress in that game and will likely never finish it I doubt I'll get dark souls or dark souls 2. Demons Souls is just so hard and you have to start at the beginning everytime you die just like old games. My most memorable part in tha game was defeating the first boss, phalanx. It was satisfying but I'd say that getting there was harder than the boss itself. These games are mostly trial and error. |

It's not trial and error when you get skilled at the game the more you play. Of course it helps that Dark Souls has a more checkpoint-based system, which does take the load off of dieing a little bit more. Really, it's not a game about dieing as much as a game of how you die. You learn and get stronger through skill, not through brute force. It's a subtle thing, really. It's hard to notice that you're getting better at the game due to the constant and consistent amount of challenges you must constantly surpass. It's a game that doesn't give you your fun. You must first earn it through hard work, determination, skill, and a little bit of luck. Haven't played Demon's Souls, but man I really want to. |

That's what I meant its trial and error to get skilled, at first. I've gotten a lot better at it but I've found it's more patience than anything. You've gotta take your time, you can't rush into a fight. The checkpoint system sounds great though. In Demons Souls you can get REALLY far and then die and have to start completely over. |

You mean, actually like a fight. You have to be smart about it! In life, you can't just run at your foe, fists flailing about wildly in an attempt to hit someone. That's what I like about it the most, I think. You aren't super powerful until you earn it, and even then, you are still fallible. It's not a game for power players or those seeking instant gratification. That said, Bonfires and Estus Flasks really help make things much less frustrating, though the game remains challenging. Not only that, but other players actively play a role in making the game more difficult. Which is hit and miss in levels of fun. Some people are just outrageously laggy. Other people are just plain better than you. It's all a part of life, the winning and losing. One must learn to take it in stride. Edited by The Milkman, Dec 22 2012, 04:51 AM.

Lava Reef Act 1

Man, I haven't played this in ages. Seeing this topic makes me want to get it again. I think I was Soul Level... 800-ish? Yeah, I played this and Demon's Souls a lot, to the point where a lot of places were muscle memory. Didn't detract from the fun any bit, though.
