Christmas is back again

Phoenix Saturn showed up to me yesterday whether I'd be interested in, well another tournament.
Now I ain't looking to make me in charge of anything, I'm simply looking to express my self, as in how an potential future tournament could be without having to restrain a few members as judges.

Now we would still have two/three members organizing, making sure everything's in order and followed by rules enlisted.

Difference is, each and everyone who joins shall have an influence in both their own match and everyone else's.
Sounds complicated, perhaps! Bare with me, that's what I'm trying to explain.

  • Member versus member
  • Members are allowed to create a second character, appointed as judge, observing whatever match they sought desired the most. Depending on time and interest.
  • Each match aren't determined by subcategories such as grammar/entertainment value/environment use, etc. But instead will be pointed out like an overall judgement based on a score between 1/100, or simply going for 1/10.

The one's in charge are free to take care of any matches that might get ignored.

Note... I know this sounds probably like a cheesy way to avoid all the hard work of judging. However can someone tell me it ain't a time consuming hell to take care of, for instance 8 or 16 matches, depending on accumulated participants who's joined.

Whether folks will drop down a notch with quality as they believe such act's won't make a difference if we'd end up dropping the controversy system as to give points to the various aspects that's been included.

If this will be looked down upon, it was merely for a suggestion seen as we've had troubles finishing off several tournaments due to the time consumption.

Give a holler, and whether it should be up for another tournament on this forum.

Final note. I ain't saying, I want to be in charge of this, just throwing up some ideas for now for discussions.

I would be fine with another tournament. I've been disappointed with the previous ones, as we never got done. :V But I'm more worried about getting the people needed for another one. Less and less each time because it never gets done.

So wait, would there be one judge per match? Both contestants create second "judge" characters? I feel like there should be though at least one person moderating things in the background, just to make sure judging is proper and all. Though personally, I like the old system better, where grammar matters and someone not involved making sure they're fair. But I can get why you guys might ditch it, as it's too time consuming like you said, and the more we wait, more interest is lost.

That's sorta why we'll still have a few members in charge of the whole tournament. Keeping everything's mandatory in a proper fashion, not allowing any jumpsuits, throwing up some random scores because they prefer him/her more then the other.

Not one judge per match. Everyone's allowed to judge whichever match they want, upon giving several opinions in the end. Those who prefer giving an extensive review, do so.

So, let's see if I've got this straight;

While we will have a few people in charge of the main tournament to plan things out and make sure rules are followed, they won't necessarily be judges of the matches.

Instead, the participants will be judging whatever match they see fit to.

Hmm, that could work, just so long as no one judges their own matches, to keep things fair.

I must say, I'm not sure about getting rid of the whole scoring system (Grammar, Entertainment), however.

I can understand why you mention this Blaire. After all you suggested it to being implemented in the Academy XIII RP Training section.

It's also why I failed contributing any further in last tournament, as I end up looking at each category as the same thing, and often end up repeating my self. And grammar ain't exactly my best quality, for natural reasons.
That leaves me to, as in this system shouldn't be removed then, but staying optional for those who wishes to use it.

Well such would simply be ignored, seen as it's obvious such wouldn't be allowed to make things fair.

I was simply making this for discussion, and whether anyone has any better ideas. Just our old traditional ways of having bout two or three judges having to deal with every single match is such a time consuming process it would take weeks between each rounds.
With this, that time could probably drastically being reduced.

Yeah, I understand what you mean about the whole grammar issue and such. And I get what you mean about this concept potentially reducing times.

In the interest of fairness again though, there should be a limit in how many judges per match. I'd say two, with a third acting as a tie breaker if it comes to that.

I ain't denying that's a good plan overall.

Just looking whether people would actually approve of such, attempting something different, as that might solve a few previous failures in the last few tournaments being held.

Perhaps I'll add a poll, and see how thing's fair out.

Glad to hear, but I still believe we lack enough enthusiasm for another tournament. Ain't much responsiveness whether we should even make another effort, or just drop the idea of adding a tournament completely out of the question.

Perhaps something new, but my mind's to thick, thinking of anything outside the regular window at the moment.

I'm not really sure what a good system would be. On one hand, if there were only a few judges, they would be hard pressed to judge all of the battles, and it may take longer than some are willing to wait. On the other hand, everyone offering an opinion would require even more. Some people may not give their opinion for weeks, and hold up the entire tournament. If worse comes to worse, I think the tournament is okay, unless somebody comes up with a better idea.

Well, if a person took too long, I would assume that the people running the tournament would take the reigns, so to speak.

As what Blaire said. It sorta lighten the heavy load that our judges often have to endure by taking care of each and every match, filling out who's the better and vise verse.
It's such a draining process, that is why I've bent the situation around a little.

Yet I seem little interest seen another tournament around here. Probably so fed up with all the waiting that they can't see another one make it through successful.

I'll give it approximately a week more to see what folks want with this?
Note, I know it's the holidays so I won't expect much in response until between Christmas and New Year, but in case you wanna see a tournament kicking off sometime next year, you'd better show some pique of interest.

Oh yeah one more thing. By request, could this become highlighted?

I wouldn't mind participating in another tournament, so you could include me on the list if you haven't already. I'm also fine with the new method. But yeah, I suggest advertising this more before shooting it down quickly. There's people that could be interested but never look in this section, so a highlight would be good.
