Welcome to the Cottage! This thread will be for basic chit-chat that doesn't inherently belong in a topic. There is only one rule!

  • No Substantive Discussion: If it can have its own thread, it should have its own thread. You can post interesting things in here, but if they spin off into their own discussion, make sure to create a topic for it. Remember, idle chit chat is the name of the game.

Sure, it's like Frozen: the company keeps pushing it when most people are looking forward to something else.

So Guilty Gear Xrd is really solid. I really like the stylistic choice they made for this one. It's all 3D cel-shaded but it's on a flat 2D perspective and it's deliberately animated choppily to resemble the older sprite-based fighters. So it can swing the camera to different perspectives to showcase the 3D for stuff like match intros, overdrives, round-winning hits, etc. Arcsys really knows how to make a good looking game.

Like CoD? You'll LOVE LBP.
The connection is that both share the one audience: Kids.

DEATH COMES ARRIVIN' ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN~
Iwantthisgamesobadyoudon'tevenknowmanwhyisn'titoutinAustraliayet.

Granted last I checked I was still horrible at Guilty Gear compared to BlazBlue (still no phenominal skills there either), but the game just looks so nice.

Still in the realm of ArcSys fighters I kind of want to grab Persona 4: Arena Ultimax too... playing Persona Q isn't helping.

Damn it, arcsys. Cut that out.

'Xrd'? How in the hell is anyone supposed to pronounce that?

I go for something like 'zerd.'
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

Ecks-erd is right. As in X, the Third.

Last title in the series that wasn't a revision was Guilty Gear XX, or simply X2. They could have gone with XXX or X3, but you can see why the first part of that would lead to misunderstandings.

So, Xrd it is.

But why couldn't they have used X3? It would have looked better.

It's Arc System Works. They go for the weird.

Weird is fine, sometimes. But other times it is unnecessary.

Xrd sounds more metal.

Also X3 makes me think of a smiley so that would just be offputting.

I hate party platter food etiquette. Like if there's one piece of food left on a platter and I really want it, I can't bring myself to take it in case somebody else wants it, and I don't want to be rude. But at the same time, nobody else is going to take it because they don't want to be rude. And then if someone is bold enough to finally go ahead and take the last bit of food I'm always like "ah f**k that guy I wanted the last quiche.".
