I've never played any grand theft auto game, but people are saying its really fun, and I'm looking into buying it.
Despite the fact that I do like games with a free-roaming fully interactive environment, which the GTA's certainly have, I find absolutely no value in games where you rob banks, kill police, use and then murder prostitutes, traffic drugs, and take potshots at random old grannies hobbling down the sidewalk just to pass the time. The fact that these games gross so much certainly indicates that society's values got flushed down the toilet a long time ago.

I've never played GTA... But it's just a game. It's not real.

 I often view games like this as a way to get said urges out of your system. You wouldn't do this shit in real life, but it's fun when it's all pretend.

Same can be said for role playing on the greater scale, depending on content.


That said, GTA V is still GTA. As a first time player of the series you'll probably enjoy it, but it looks kind of same old, same old to me. But some of the characters are likeable enough at least.
