Please note: No one has done anything wrong nor are we getting rid of it forever, but staff have continued to see it as something that significantly curbs activity away from the other discussion forums which, as a spam topic in a spam forum, is problematic both for the life and image of the forum. However, we also recognize the value of the activity and community we have here regardless of where they choose to congregate, so instead we are implementing a compromise. The Shack will be archived, and a new one will start. This new Shack will not be for one-word posts or images/videos with nothing else. It will be for basic chit-chat that doesn't inherently belong in the other forums. The caveat is that this rule will now actually be enforced. Should any tangential discussions sprout about a single subject, we will implore that you make a topic about it or we'll merely take it upon ourselves to separate those particular posts into their own topic in the appropriate section. Why we're not applying this new operation to the old Shack is a question of size and convenience: simply put, it's just way too big and way too fast to appropriately moderate and has been as such for quite some time. We need to start fresh so as to keep it cleaner and ultimately in line with its original purpose.

However we have made it so the Shackside topic is for banter only, spam isn't allowed- any subjects that are worth talking about and get the community involved in are to be made into topics and discussed there.

I can't help but wonder if the Shackside is actually needed, or going to become a problem, though. I assume if it starts stealing away activity and becomes like the Shack that it'll be closed, without receiving a replacement, in which case it makes perfectly good sense. So yeah, hopefully this serves the intended purpose! I was never an active resident of the Shack, so I honestly don't know how much this will change my activity, but (if all goes well) this change in activity direction should be for the better.
