I'm going to tell you a very interesting story, about my experience with a dreaded internet troll. That had ruined my experience on an originally friendly server on a computer game known as Garry's Mod. It all started on a Garry's Mod server called Biagos Buildnanza that was a building server that restricted PVP battle and focused on the construction side of Garry's Mod, while constructing theme parks and the usually common flying car. I usually pick the server with the least Ping, as my computer normally has up to 100 or more when on multiplayer games such as Garry's Mod. But luckily Garry's Mod uniquely allows the user to choose whatever server is best, by showing a listing of how much Ping the server has. It was around 167, and that was good enough for me, so I connected. Once arriving, it didn't lag much at all. In fact, I could move around freely without my player suddenly freezing and then finding himself moving in the direction I wanted him to go in three minutes before. There was a bit of lag due to the amount of props that were being spawned each second. But it was good enough to stroll around in. I played on there everyday for around three days time. Before I met the admin, Nig, and the moderator, Nate. Perhaps this problem never would have happened had I not complained. Or even suggested he stopped, but as the server was playing the map 'gm_construct' as it does at constant daily, I decided to build a flying car like everyone else was. I said 'Hello!' to everyone on the first day, and got a polite 'Hello!' in return. Eventually, I met them. Nig, and Nate. Now, it all started when I was in the middle of making my flying car. Nig, whom was the admin as I mentioned before, had already built one. And he drove around in it for a few minutes before he headed for my under-construction flying car. And he bumped into it. Causing the balloons I had tied to it, to break. And caused it to spin round before falling onto the bleak concrete stone. As the car was originally a prop, and the only things broken were a few balloons that I can easily reattach, I just politely asked as to why Nig was doing it. As after a few seconds time, he, whom was doing it on purpose without reason, did it again. After he explained that the first time it was in his way, and the second time he didn't explain why but said sorry anyway, I politely accepted his sorrow and moved on. But, after a few minutes time, Nate, whom if I should remind was a moderator, told me to 'Shut up.' and yes, it was exactly the way he said it. 'Shut up.' and that's when it got extremely awkward. I asked why I should shut up, and he told me I should 'drop' it instead of going on about it. And I had not said anything else after I had accepted Nig's rebuilt friendship, After a few minutes of me and him arguing about something, that I can't even recall since he went completely off topic. Calling me dumb, and that my brain was unable to communicate with my body. Eventually, someone came towards me. If I can recall the name correctly, It was along the lines of SaKu. Or something such as that. He suggested to stop talking to him and get back to my car, that he suggested would fix things. I did what he said and stopped talking to him, while focusing on the car. Later, I had decided to create a forest around my house. Just a small one, maybe one or two trees. And as soon as I was done, it exploded. And my trees were on fire. Before being removed automatically. As someone near my house was firing cannon balls for fun, I thought perhaps it was him. Of course, just by mistake. So I carried on and created them once again. Until I found out who really did it. And that was of course, Nate. After rebuilding the trees, Nate came. And said, 'These forests are so amazing, it's the best idea ever' and a few seconds after he said that, he had put them on fire again. And during the time I tried to repair them, him, being the moderator, removed them. Without reason. After asking him, slightly ruder, why he got rid of them, again, he avoided answering the question and put me into a jail cell for two minutes. During that time he told me that he had not gone through rule one of the server that appears when you first connect to it. Rule one, was not to mess with other peoples props, it clearly stated 'If they want help, they'll ask for it!' but he ignored that entirely and went ahead and burned them. He told others he was the kind of person that 'Didn't give an F' about other peoples experience nor their desires when encountering the server. Anyway, back to the jail. During the time I was in there, I asked him why he had jailed me. He told me he'd keep me in there until I stopped 'trolling' Yes, he suggested I was trolling. Every time I asked him the words 'How was I trolling?' He completely avoided the question by asking if I was going to stop trolling. He never answered the question during this time, or any time. I gave in after being released and tried to talk to the admin Nig, but he didn't respond, and seemed to agree with Nate during the time he was active and responding. Knowing that if people don't like me for who I am, they are not worth the effort trying to fit into the community, I said goodbye. And left the server. Forever. So that's my experience. I never bothered to report Nate, Or wait for the second admin to arrive. I just left. Because if I can't be myself I won't be there at all. Now, back to the original reason for this thread. You may discuss you're experiences with trolls such as the one above, or, if you haven't encountered a troll before, you can comment about my experience. Or do both! Enjoy the thread everyone. They're just general badmins. People who mess with other people's stuff are called minges. You best be building your own stuff by starting a single player server, then using an add-on like Advanced Duplicator to save your work and show it to other build servers. |

some admins are just stupid, I once heard that this little kid paid enough to be an admin, and he trolled everyone and for some reason, supported a non-existent rule that you can't hit people... |

That is quite a good idea actually, I never considered using that. It would be a lot better since I'd be able to spawn it again if someone set it on fire, like Nate did. I suppose, the hard thing to think about, Is that Nate will be overjoyed that I've quit the server, and will be able to do whatever he wants, including bullying innocent people. I already went back to the server later last night and looked at my rank, he changed it so I can't even fire a gun. |
