Marble Garden Act 1
|
13 days remain before the day that the Ancient Mayan's predicted to be the end of the world arrives. What do you actually think will happen then? For me, I just can't wait to see what the news will say. I would laugh if they didn't say shit. |

Okay, reasons why the world will not really end... 1. Every civilization of those times (Mayans, Aztecs, Guptas, Egyptians, Earlier Chinese Dynasties) made some sort of calendar that really, are different from one another. Different point of views. People don't realize that the Mayans had a different perspective of what year it was. Like it's 2012 now for us. It could be (for example) 1892 or something to them! Their calendar, like all the other civilizations of that time, ISN'T INACCURATE, but they have a different perspective of what time was at that time. Mainly because they were isolated from the other civilizations in the Eastern Hemisphere. So really, THEIR TIME ISN'T OUR TIME. 2. From what I've seen, it can easily have been converted wrong because even though there are still plenty of Mayans in Guatemala or Nicaragua, but their language and style of writing could have changed from then to now. It's the same thing with the older Chinese dynasties. The writings of the Qin and Han Dynasties aren't the same as their present time writing style. 3. Mayans were good at predicting events, but that was mainly weather events from how the air feels or Eclipses by observing the moon. I don't think they could predict something about a thousand years ahead of their time. Edited by Devy The Mutt, Dec 8 2012, 06:55 AM.

From what I've heard here and there (haven't done any serious research on the topic), the Mayan calendar actually signals the end of an era, NOT the end of the world. They had other calendars before the one we've got now. When the era's calendar ended, they would simply start another one. So I'm not worried at all, really. While the end of the world may happen(Doubt it), even if we all died and stuff, we wouldn't know. It's funny though because wasn't the end of the world meant to be in 2000, some day in March last year, or even when they tested that hydrogen collider thing. It's not going to happen. |

Because nobody wants to say it: The earth spontaneously detonates. Boom, poof, no more world, people or problems. I joke of course. |
| Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk. | |

It's really no sin, they sorta wanted to scare the shit out of our young generation by concluding the end of our world may end on the 21st December. Now with several cases were young people having suicidal thoughts because they believe it's the truth, is all for making it sound so true back then. Seriously if it happens, it happens. But the likability this will do, is about 1%/100%. I believe we should be more worried about that there's powerful storms, natural disasters come and go each day. It ain't like the world has gone unwind already, so to assume we'll all become waste in less then two weeks. Isn't anything more then superstitious. So I'll simply say I agree with Nail. Probably just a new era, not the end of the world. |

This is another reason to add to my list. I saw through research it was an end of an era or period. |

the stupid rumour about the world ending just seems like a pile of garbage, besides I was told that it's technically 2014 if you counted the leap year days... |

Interesting topic. Predictable both in its creation and responses created, but entertaining nonetheless. To answer the question posed above, the media will say nothing. Thanks to the power of freedom of speech, the media will never acknowledge they're wrong. After all it was the media who grabbed on this for the attention-grabbing headlines and if anything happens, I can quite confidently blame them for shitstirring in the first place. After all, the various media outlets are shepherds and many people are sheep, prepared to believe anything spoonfed to them. So why should they put their hand up and say "hey guys, we were interested in website pageviews and selling newspapers so in actual fact, we're real sorry we blew this out of proportion again"? They've never done it yet and I highly doubt they're going to start now. My return question is: what disaster is left now for humankind to survive..?

The sky will grow dark as storm clouds block the sun. The lightning will strike and from the center of the clouds, a hole will appear. The giant hole will gently drop a large mayan calendar which will slowly spin in the air. The magical calendar will then transform and then this will happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTSA_sWGM44 You have been warned. |

Since nobody else seems to care to say it, the planet's are going to align. This is supposed to be the first time in human history. But what is that gonna cause? There could be some sort of seismic effect. Something will happen, but whether It's the end of the world I don't know. |

Some of the people who actually buy the "end of the world" baloney are going to be commiting suicide, a number of those probably choosing to first kill "their loved ones" in order to "spare them the suffering," and I will likely be locked up in my house to avoid them. |

Mushroom Hill Act 2

I don't think anything will happen because there are people who made "The world will end!" claims many times before. However if something happens and it turns out they were right this time, *shrugs* oh well. It's not like they will be alive to brag about it. But if nothing does happen, I'm just going to do what I would normally do. Sit near the Christmas tree sipping egg nog and playing osu! wrapped up in my blanket. Then I will giggle at the people who freaked out about it the day after. |
