Once in awhile I'd imagine you've played a FPS - First Person Shooter game. Like, Call of Duty or Team Fortress 2 or something along those lines. In games like that, you sometimes have to go into an area that is basically filled with enemies. Such as Zombies, Combine Soldiers, or the dreaded Harmless Combine Cube. And when you have to go into those areas, you sometimes win, or you sometimes lose. This thread is for gamers who have experienced a FPS game to share their experiences in massacre failures. Such as killing an army of robots and then turning around and seeing another army of robots. Just an example. I've not really failed at performing a massacre in games like that. But there was one time in Team Fortress 2 where I was playing in the map 2Fort where I spawned as Spy and turned invisible around enemy lines before reaching the intelligence room. Once reaching the intelligence room I ran straight inside, no longer invisible. And there was a fully constructed Sentry that killed me, instantly. What a waste. I've recently bought Garry's Mod since then. And have not really played Team Fortress 2. However I sometimes slip down memory lane during Garry's Mod and browse through the restricted areas in Team Fortress 2 maps that I couldn't get in before. Edited by Monaco, Dec 3 2012, 03:11 PM.

well since this is on FPS fails, one I did was in Team Fortress 2 as well, what I did though is that I sapped a sentry in front of an Engineer and Heavy, not the smartest idea I did...at least I still survived though! well I did a win on it anyway, if that's legitimate for this too... |

I once sapped a Sentry in front of the Engineer whom built it. It's rare to survive such a crime. But I managed to get away by cloaking and running as far away from the area as possible. Edited by Monaco, Dec 3 2012, 03:37 PM.

Battlefield 3... I remember there were four or five guys with me defending a flag, and we were surrounded at both exits. One was a tunnel, the other was an alley. We had a stand still going for three or four minutes until I got the bright idea to throw a grenade. Then they realized "Hey. We can do that too." We all died from grenades. Lots of them. And lost the flag. And then the match. |

I've got a TF2 success story; MvM mode, pick Sniper and get called out for being a troll(apparently, snipers are crap). I tell the team to stfu, give me a couple of waves to power up and I'll own. Also I can headshot. I then proceeded to headshot just about everything that moved, got the gun powered up so I could kill giants in 2 shots and had my ass kissed by my team who now believed me to not be a troll. Biggest compliment was the engi who moved his dispenser next to me so I didn't have to stop shooting to find an ammo crate. But this isn't about success stories, is it? It's about FPS failures! I guess you could pick any of Portal 2... let's say when Wheatley's letting you go free and suddenly changes his mind. That was a massive NOOOO moment. But this isn't about cut scenes that make you facepalm, is it? It's about shooting people and it going wrong! In which case I shall pick Half Life 2 and any of the jumping scenes that need precision and lead to death if you get it wrong - the Citadel is a good example. But that wasn't shooting! Alrighty, my biggest failure was from the first Killzone. I was hooked up to a 44" TV and a sweet 5.1 surround system more or less perfectly set up, connected to the PS2 with an optic cable. With the lights off, this was my first truly immersive experience within a game - I swear the 5.1 made the difference. Anyways, we're early-ish in the game, just past the trenches into the city itself. There's stuff flying overhead, and I'm spinning about wildly watching it all, reacting to the sounds like a noob does. I shoot some Helghast, they shoot back. A new noise enters play - a low rumbling. This doesn't sound like a normal wargame sound, I figure - so duck down underneath a big pipe suspended in the air. The rumbling gets louder. It starts to get darker. I look up at the sky. The pipe is falling onto me. The sodding thing hits me and I die. The pipe's subsequent impact with the ground deafens me and leaves me with a mild amount of trauma. BEST. FAIL. EVER. <3 |

The success story was great. I once came across a server that had someone on it claiming that Snipers were terrible, he even asked me to change my character. Of course I didn't do so since I had around seventeen kills in the same match. But I really don't understand how they are bad. They are called Snipers for a reason. They snipe from afar. I recently got an NPC of Wheatly on Garry's Mod. I've seriously got no idea how it works. It just stands there, and it hardly opens its eyes at all. I've only seen it do that once. For the third one, I've never played Half Life 2. But I've heard a lot about it. It sounds good. And that is a good reason to get it. For the final one. That really is a very dramatic end. I would've head a heart attack of course. |

While I am a fan of Duke Forever and have played various other modern FPS I'm mostly an "OG" gamer so some that remember the old days of early FPS may know where I'm coming from with this. In Doom II there's an enemy that I'm sure many who've played the game a dozen and a half times would know that you don't fudge around with and that's an Arch-vile. While playing one of the Hell stages in Doom II I came across a few Arachnotron's along with a Spiderdemon not too far off. While I took so much damage from the Spiderdemon I finally destroyed it only to see two of, what I soon discovered, three Arch-vile's walking around and slowly creeping towards me. I had little rockets and my plasma gun was less than 150 ammo, a waste to use a BFG at this point. I used the BFG but as it figured I started to see a flame covering my screen so I had to hide. While I was trying to hide I wasted 1/3 of BFG shots left so I knew that by the time I let off a shot I would've received too much blast damage from the Arch-vile attack. I used up all the rest of my double barrel running and gunning and luckily took out one. I somehow managed to survive splash damage from my own rocket shooting down and killing another (they're fast enemies and he got right up on my dick at the last second). By this time I had somewhere around 10-15% armor and less than 20 health. For some god awful reason I took out my pistol instead of a chaingun and started spamming shots running and gunning then hiding when all of a sudden I heard a gurgling muffle. To my relief I killed the third with a pistol. That's the last time I play Doom II on Ultra-violence. |

I was playing MW2 a while ago, an decided to sneak behind enemy lines and plant a few mines, and fire at whoever makes it past. I was trouting along behind my allies, and made it past a group of about 25. One of my allies happened to be following me and killed them all. I started planting the mines, then onee of the enemy snuck up behind us and blasted us both with a rocket. |

Trouble in Terrorist Town, a gamemode for Garry's Mod. Not really an FPS but close enough. I was an innocent, and this guy was following me and he came towards me with a knife. I didn't know at the time that Traitors were the only ones that could use them, so I was murdered and they won the round. After that I realized there were only two people left alive at the time and I should have known that he was an obvious traitor. |

I can't play Trouble in Terrorist Town, as my internet connection is so slow all servers show my ping to be over 200. I'm searching for a version of Trouble in Terrorist Town that is made with none player characters so it wont lag as much. |

well another FPS fail I did was on COD: Black Ops, and what I did is use the RC-XD and I did blow it up on someone, but I stupidly forgot that I was right next to him and blew myself up as well... |

Went into a security door in Wolfenstein 3-D with a pistol. Saw chaingun. Smirked like I got an XBOX 360 for Christmas. Stepped forward Heard five cries of "SCHUTZSTAFFEL" Died. |
