Sandopolis Act 2
Belle continued walking, but she closed her eyes and tilted her head downwards.

Donovan could sense things like no one else I've ever met before. Sometimes he could even predict what his opponent would do next. If only I could find a way to do something similar...

"It's strange. It's this mix of mortal and demonic...energy. Like we're facing conjurers of sorts."

The future Lady of Fire sighed, walking over to the sculptor's workplace that Kidemónas had been leading her towards.

"For now...we should be cautious, but still go about the walk. I want to see if they remain this elusive, or if they'll grow careless as they gain confidence."

(( I think multiple battles, but not too many. Aiyana can't travel as fast as she'd like with another non-wind-traveling demon; it'll take her a week to find the Demon King, seeing as how he's probably farther away. ))

(( Also leaving Hikaru and Aiyana for now. ))

Flying Battery Act 1
Kidemónas frowned.

"That is indeed strange. Conjurers? As in Necromancy? Or, the more occult demon worship? I've heard tell that both run rampant in the outside world. I've even encountered demon worshipers before, although admittedly they were fairly harmless. They couldn't summon a demon if their life depended on it... And it did."

He followed after her, striving to keep his watchfulness at the same level as before Belle had shown concern. He entered the sculptor's workplace after her though, to keep anyone from following right behind her.

"A wise tactic. Best for the moment, at least."

Soon enough, the sculptor emerged from the back room, brushing powder from chiseled stone off of his hands and onto his apron. "Sorry for the wait. There was an off angle on a sculpture I'm working on, and I just couldn't leave it be the way it was. Anything I can do for you?"

"Yes, actually." Kidemónas smiled very slightly, with a look of restrained amusement. "I would like you to meet our soon to be Lady of Fire, Belle. She has come to see the people of her city, and ideally to learn more of what they do. She has head tell of the work you are doing for Lord Kideia, and so desires to check in on progress personally while we're nearby."

The sculptor stopped brushing off his hands and looked up. He knew Kidemónas well enough to recognize his voice, and that alone was enough to hold his attention. But, clearly, his words had drawn in any attention that might have remained elsewhere. He looked at Belle, seeming to take in all the details that he could. It was a habit among good sculptors; the rich, famous, and powerful were often sculpted, so it was best to know what they looked like sooner rather than later.

He bowed smoothly, and rose. "It is a rare day for a man to meet the Lady of Fire. I am most honoured. Now then, I hear you were asking after my work. If you wish to see the phoenixes... Well, one of them is making pretty nice progress. I would think both will be done in time for the Solstice, but we'll see. I'm working on the Light Phoenix right now."

He smiled excitedly. "If you would," he said, gesturing with both arms towards the door to the workshop in the back.

~~~~~~
After what felt an eternity, the number of foes was low enough that Kideia could count it even when bouncing about and fighting as he was. Five. Five now, but how many when we started? He tried to put aside that question. He knew that he'd start to feel the exhaustion even more if he had a number to put to his efforts.
As it stood, his breathing was terribly laboured. "Dammit," he muttered. His guardian glanced, before darting towards one of the five that had stepped inward.
Kideia dove for another immediately, reinforcing the flames around his sword has he did so. The blade hit. Solidly, in fact. Most of the creatures-- after the first few-- had taken a bit more to get than that.
While he tried to yank free his sword, he heard the deathly, almost bird-like screech of another right behind him. He didn't even need to glance to know what it meant.
Rather than continue his efforts to free the sword, Kidiea dove forward, driving the dead guarding to the ground in hopes of rolling over it and out of the way.
Pain shot through him as the spear struck his back, just below his ribs and blessedly just off of his spine. The back. Always the back. I'm surprised I can still walk!
He shouted out in agony, writhing for a moment, then calling upon flames around the handle of the spear that the guardian held. "Kathodigisi!" he uttered, his voice shaking.
The flames blasted up along the handle, and ended up engulfing the guardian at the end in moments. The flames through beyond, growing with Kideia's desperation. He heard another scream further away and knew that his flames had hit. Two left.
He groaned in pain while struggling back up to his feet. The spearhead was stuck in his back, but the wooden handle was gone. Removing it would have to wait.
He turned around to see that his guardian was being cornered by the other two-- not that they could kill him, of course; it was likely that they thought the other three would have been enough to get Kidiea-- of the enemy guardians.
Kideia leaned down, grimacing with pain, and pulled free his sword. He pointed it to one of the guardians and called forth the flames again. "Kathodigisi!"
He pointed to the other. "Kathodigisi!"
The flames hit, moments following up on one another. And they burned, burned away into oblivion. Kidiea collapsed. It was done.
(( Leaving Thánatos once more. ^^;; ))
