Sandopolis Act 2
|
In a small village nestled within the dunes of a large desert, two weasels and a wolf were taking refuge inside the home of an elderly coyote woman. The female weasel wore a smirk, but her eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, not malice. She was pretty, but in a rough-and-tumble way. Her fur was a light sandy brown, and her hair and eyes were a dark red-brown, like wood. She wore a frayed shirt, tattered pants, and worn shoes-all brown. She was looking for a change in clothes, however... The male weasel appeared to be very laid-back, a small smile on his face. He was a fairly tall, slim weasel. He also appeared to be extremely lazy, judging from his posture: hands behind head, legs spread out, slouched. Even if his manners were terrible, he was easy on the eyes. His fur was a golden honey brown, which contrasted nicely with his fiery, darker red hair. His outfit was quite ornate for a supposed traveler. A sorcerer's long coat/jacket (like a trenchcoat) with a collar turned upwards. The coat itself was a deep scarlet with golden designs in the shapes of phoenixes (on the sides, near the bottom, on the sleeves, and a large one on the back) and swirling flames. His shirt, pants, and boots were all black. Warm brown eyes, with a mischeivious twinkle in them, watched the coyote. They had been telling tales to pass the time. Donovan's tale, however, had surprised the elderly coyote, causing her to stand out of her chair and rise, shakily, to her feet. "It's interesting you would tell that tale." the elderly coyote commented at last. "I'll take it that you're a follower of the Order of the Phoenix." Donovan blinked in surprise, straightening up from his slouched posture. "Actually, yeah. How did you know?" The coyote smiled without showing her teeth. "Your tale. Hold on a moment...I need to go fetch something..." As she hobbled out of the room, Donovan looked at Kideia and Belle. "I'm not sure what to make of this...not many know about our order. Kideia, your religion is a more well-known, but she didn't react to your story. I wonder..." ~~~~~~~ The wind continued to swirl around the three felines, shifting sand around and depositing it in a way that almost resembled a veil. The moon shone down upon the three, casting a near-heavenly glow onto their bodies. The smallest one had fur that was a soft, light pink. She had dark purple eyes that seemed to look right into a person. However, she was now asleep-her eyes were closed. Her bangs half-covered her eyes most of the time; her black hair went down to her waist. Distinct marks-perhaps what caused her step-father to act in such a brutal manner towards the helpless thing-were the black stripes that swirled over her skin, and the black accents over her eyes. It hinted at a demonic father-not the mortal who had wronged her. Her name was Nakita. She was tiny-then again, she was still a young girl. Six years old, perhaps. She had gone mute from twin slashes that formed a 'X' on her throat. Her mother had died giving birth, and her father had been a madman who killed himself. He had wounded her with a kitchen knife when he had deduced that Nakita was one of the Damned-a partial demon. An outcast. The elder of the two females was a white-furred beauty, with rose-colored swirling stripes that covered her body. Her white hair was long as well, but not spiky as Nakita's happened to be. It was lush and similar to frayed thread-soft to the touch. Her bangs framed her face, and did not obscure her eyes as much as the raven-haired cat, although Aiyana's bangs were a few inches longer. The tigress was tall and graceful, and the second trait was onvious in her combat skills. But the older cat always hid inside her dark purple cloak, her face usually shadowed. Save for her purple eyes which (although dark) were luminous. She had the slit-eyed-cat-pupils, but they seemed to contain...more. The tigress always appeared sorrowful, seeming to suffer quietly behind a calm front. Around her neck hung a pendant; a small glass orb, where a swirling mass of dark purple and black resided, swirling like the sand. Aiyana had listened quietly to Thanatos, but her heart had grown heavy with sadness at his tale. "I don't want you to die." she whispered suddenly, hugging Nakita tighter to her body. "I don't want anyone to die." Her face had been lowered, hidden. But now she looked up, her eyes glimmering in the moonlight. "My past and Nakita's are very similar. But it is the same for all who are considered damned. Nothing to pity, really." She chuckled lowly. "Then I suppose I shouldn't keep secrets. We are both half demon. Nakita was the offspring of a demon man and a mortal woman. I was reincarnated this way. In my past life, I was an honorable Sister. The one who wielded the power of light and wind, and watched over spirits. Or rather...she was. Reincarnation is a difficult topic...you are the person, yet you are not the person. As if Death changes you in small ways that affect everything... "Moriję created demon daughters to combat us-them. They were winning; if they had done so, she would have destroyed everything. I...the Sister... bound the souls of the demons and the Sisters together, creating single beings. Moriję was forced to flee. The battle was won...but at the price of the death of all the Sisters. The soulbinding of divine and demonic spirits destroyed both separate entities. "Now the Sisters are just a legend in the minds of mortals. Moriję has been corrupting hearts from the shadows, causing unrighteous crusades and false beliefs. I am part Divine, part Damned. Villagers see me as more monstrous than Nakita. They don't know what to make of my existence." She hid her face again, her voice even quieter than before. "I seemed to be thrust into the world as a six-year-old child. I found no love there, in my village...only hatred and attempts at my life. Most of my early years were occupied by running and fear. I could go into details, but I...I prefer not to." The tigress refused to look at Thanatos now. "I suppose you would be disgusted. Your existence has consistently been threatened by demons and devils. I won't hold anything against you if you feel the same as those villagers." |

Flying Battery Act 1

Kideia frowned; his bright orange eyes showed signs of confusion. Their colour was that of a lesser demon, although he himself held no demonic blood. Perhaps they were why Belle had been able to accept him earlier on. That, and the fact that her once demonic nature had never fully taken away her mortal nature. He shrugged. His red feathered cape ruffled just slight, cascading with light from the fire. "I'm not sure. Perhaps the Order of the Phoenix has some sort of a history in this desert? I mean, we aren't that far from your home city, and the Order of the Phoenix does have some rather obvious roots there. I've never heard the name, though." Not even you spoke of it by name. Maybe there's some secret about it that you don't want to talk about? His bronze-red fur shone in the firelight more brilliantly than even his cloak, but it was a mild shine, so it wasn't difficult to look upon. "You're right in saying the Followers of the Gods of Fire and Light are a more common faith, though. Maybe you could enlighten me a bit on the Order's history, Donovan. It's obviously an older faith, seeing as it's actually known of out here." He began to pace the length of the room. The frown returned, as his thoughts turned back to what the elder had said before leaving. Whatever she was going to get, it must be important. He paused, turning toward the others. "You know, now that I think about it, we might just be in some serious trouble here. I mean, we've got the Moriję to deal with, and maybe Daimonas as well. I'm not totally sure about Smoke at this point. I've still got that dark gap in my memories, and I suspect Belle might as well. I know Thanatos remembers stuff again, and Aiyana might, but they've not been talking much. Typical, depressive cats," he muttered in passing, before continuing. "Now there's someone who knows about the Order you're a part of, Donovan." He paused, briefly. "I wouldn't be surprised if the Gods of Fire and Light showed up all of a sudden," Kideia half-joked. "I mean, seriously. Lots of stuff has been happening lately, and there seems to be either a god or a powerful demon behind it. I'm beginning to wonder how we've lived so long." ~~~~~~ Thanatos stared distantly into the desert, as he listened to Aiyana's reply. In the darkness of the night, he was nearly invisible, other than his deep blue eyes. The wind murmured continuously, carrying the odd dust-cloud of sand with it. The night was clear, and the stars above were a constant reminder to the strange change that his magic had gone through. That is a secret for another time, I fear. "No, I can't say I'm at all disgusted. You are as Divine as you are Demonic; although it isn't quite the same, that isn't far off from what it is to be a mortal. Demons have been my enemies, but Belle has helped me see them in a bit of a different light." His thoughts momentarily turned to the Demoness who had once held Smoke as her slave, and recalled the unique signs of compassion she had shown for Smoke in the end. He couldn't help but mourn, briefly, over her death. The wind picked up briefly, causing the feathers of his black cloak to flutter as a bird's wings would in flight. His mourning continued, but the face he saw in his mind was different. 'She' would never be forgotten by him. He noted in passing that, ironically, he had in a sense forgotten her. He clenched his right hand momentarily, and then released it when he realized that Aiyana might have heard the metal clinking into and out of a fist. He turned to face her again, but was disappointed to see that she wasn't facing him. Her worry over his potential disgust was clearer in that than in her words. "There is one thing I must know, though. Are you still the Aiyana I knew? You have become something more, but... Have you lost 'Aiyana'?" He paused, then smiled slightly. "I remember when we met. You nearly shot me. Perhaps rightfully so, considering how I was afterwords," he let out a brief laugh. |

The weasel wrinkled his nose, making a face of slight disgust. He slouched down further than before, his head sinking down between his shoulders. "Eh, are you asking me to recite my history lessons again? Let me tell ya, it's no-" "Donny!" Belle reprimanded her brother by punching him in the arm, making the elder sibling wince. "This is important! Don't joke around about it!" "Okay, okay, you're right. Calm down." Donovan sat up, one knee bent and one leg stretched out. He crossed his arms and stared into the fire, the flames reflecting in his brown eyes. "Let's see...yes, it originated in my home city, maybe five years before I was born. It was always rather obscure, seeing as how it required disciples to basically give up any sense of a social life... "Heh, but I haven't heard that name in a long time. Once, maybe, when I first started training with Sensei. Even he didn't call it that. Followers were so obscure, if you mentioned the Phoenix, people were bound to know what you were talking about. "Let's see...founded...founded...ah, there it is. Founded by Rokan, the ruler of the city. He was a good enough guy I guess. Good moral values. It didn't get much support from the nobles because he didn't want to use it as an army force. A king who honestly believes in a religion-go figure. "But since our religion is centered around a mythical firebird, you can see why not a lot of people were ready to join. That, and your religion soon manifested as the more popular choice. We were cast out as the unpopular choice. Although, I can't say I mind too much. I feel more unique." The boy chuckled and grinned cheekily. If the wolf wanted to know more, he'd try to remember. During Donovan's and Kideia's speaking, Belle had been admiring the way the fire made Kideia's fur shine. She closed her eyes happily, a light blush on her cheeks. But at her best friend's question, she opened her eyes, surprising the two males. "Because we didn't think about anyone other than ourselves. When you constantly look for your place in the world, you miss what's going on around you. And when you finally notice, you become a part of the bigger picture. It's harder because it's more fulfilling this way." Donovan blinked several times at his little sister. That might be the smartest thing she's ever said... ~~~~~ Aiyana had indeed heard the metal clinking; however, she wasn't sure what to make of it. But one thing was for certain: she felt relieved. She was relieved that Thanatos wasn't reacting to her poorly. She decided to take down her hood again, smiling slightly. His question took her by surprise. Was she still Aiyana? She stared at him, blinking until she laughed a little herself before her eyes took on a sly teasing expression. "Maybe I should have. You were extremely annoying, Burēdo." She smiled again, but it faded away to a calm look as she decided to truly answer the cat's question. "...I think 'Aiyana' is still within me. I just haven't used her much lately." She placed her hand over his, blushing slightly. "Maybe you could help me find her again..." |

Kideia smiled slightly. Perhaps she's taken more from my words back in the ruins of her home than I have. Donovan's explanation had covered enough for the moment. Whatever the elder brought would add more, so Kideia decided he wouldn't wast a question before he knew what to ask about. "Yeah, probably. But I mean, we've become players in a game unlike any other we've been a part of, Belley. Renegades in wars, and raiding towns... Those, sure, those are easy enough. But surviving a conflict of gods and demons? That's a bit unbelievable. That's why I'm getting kind of worried." He looked into the fire, feeling its power coursing and flickering. The God of Fire resided in that power; Kideia held the power to call upon and guide the very power of the God of Fire, but the God of Light had not blessed him with the powers of Light. Perhaps... Perhaps there was something to that. Very few people were said to accomplish anything with fire magic, and of those it had become clear that some were of the Phoenix and not the Gods of Fire and Light. Kideia and his long-lost mentor were unique, among the Followers of the Gods of Fire and Light. Very few received the blessing of Fire, and fewer still received the blessing of Light through the God of Light. It was commoner among the followers of the whispering gods, but still not overly common. That Kideia had received the blessing of fire, even with his minimal training, made him uniquely powerful among mortals. It was a bit of a shocking revelation to note that, in spite of this, he was far from the most powerful member of their troop. Thanatos, Aiyana, Donovan... Maybe even Nakita. Only Belle was similar in power to him. Perhaps this was why they had survived. They were, in some way, meant for conflicts like this. Thanatos was destined for conflicts on this scale; Aiyana was somehow special. Donovan and Nakita were in this either for their own reasons, or because Kideia was. If only I had chosen the right side from the beginning... He was beginning to fear what it might be like to be the enemy of his friends for a brief moment. "You know what?" He chuckled awkwardly. "Now that I think about it, maybe it isn't so surprising after all." ~~~~~~ "Perhaps," he breathed into the wind. "If she is still there, I will find her." But I will never find 'her'. Regret for 'her' ran through him, just as passionately as his compassion for Aiyana. He was on the brink. Life and death played games with him; light and darkness played a strange role in his soul. Aiyana and 'her' twisted his heart. He knew in that moment why he had taken the path he had, other than for the sake of others: There was no other path for him. His very being had been torn asunder before he'd ever attained happiness. He breathed for Aiayana; he suffered for 'her'. He broke her gaze, knowing that she would see his sadness. But, he did not take back his hand. The wind ceased for a time, leaving Thanatos with nothing but the feel of Aiyana's hand against his own. Joy and sadness in one ran through his being, reminding him of his days with 'her' and of his time with Aiyana at once. "Perhaps there is someone within me as well, hiding. I met them but once, for a brief time. They're trying to return, but they can't drive out what I am." I am Thanatos Daimonas; Death Demon. I am Death, and I am in part Buredo. I only wish that 'Buredo' will be my redemption... (( The 'e' in Buredo has lost the line, due to some glitch on my end with the e with a macron. It doesn't seem to want to work, unfortunately. )) |

Donovan had been watching Kideia pace around the room. He could only guess what the wolf was thinking... Belle was frowning, staring into the fire now. I haven't told them...but I can't feel the fire anymore. Not like I used to. I don't want to tell, but if we get in a fight...it'd just be selfish. I could really put Donny and Kidd in danger. But I don't want to be useless... Her train of thought was broken at Kideia's comment. She wasn't sure exactly what he was referencing, but she didn't have time to wonder, either. Donovan spoke up, nudging Belle with the heel of his boot. "Oi, you're quiet. What's eatin' at ya?" The girl stammered, averting her eyes, struggling to come up with a decent lie. "U-uh, w-well, I was just, uh-" The girl was saved by the sound of the wooden door creaking open. The elderly coyote hobbled into the room, struggling to carry a huge tome that only appeared larger compared to her small stature. Donovan leapt up to take the tome from her hands. "Oh, thank you." she coughed softly, sitting down again. "That is something my father left behind." The tome itself was weathered and bound in leather. The weasel brushed off some dust, his eyes widening at the faded painting of a small Phoenix. "This is..." "The lost tome of the Order, yes. My father was a knight under Rokan. Rokan copied the tome, word for word, and gave it to him for safekeeping." She sighed, looking ready to fall asleep in her chair. "I apologize, young ones, but finding this and bringing it to you has made me quite weary. In exchange for the company, you may keep it. I trust that it's in good hands. Besides-the tales I tell come from the book." Donovan could hardly speak. He lightly trailed his fingers over the cover, feeling emotion swell within him. "Thank you." he said quietly, at last. "This is extremely generous-after you were so kind as well." ~~~~~ Aiyana took comfort in the warmth of holding the cat's hand, but he appeared troubled as well. She leaned against him slightly, letting her eyes close as she tilted her head to better fit against his shoulder. "And what do you consider yourself to be?" she questioned softly. Her bangs fell over her face, concealing most of her features. (( Don't worry about it. I know you usually write 'Thanatos' with an accent, but I forget where to place it. )) |

Kideia's eyes widened at the sight of the book almost as much as Donovan's had. This elderly woman had connections trailing back to Rokan. It was a shock to see how one of such nobility had fallen so far-- but then, his own tale was comparable in that respect. The ancient tome likely held knowledge unlike any the world had seen for a very long time. Donovan's powers were living proof that the Phoenix had some validity in the tales of it. A book with information that valuable was worth killing for. That the elder would hand it over just like that spoke wonders of how hopeful she was it would be better off in Donovan's hands. "It appears you won't be making us breakfast," Kideia murmured. "In fact, I know it wasn't part of the gamble, but how about I deal with making breakfast for you?" She deserved that, at least. He'd have offered her more, if he could have given it. He turned back to the beds and took one of the blankets. He draped it around the elder's shoulders, so that she might rest comfortably. He sat in the other chair, staring now at the lost tome instead of the fire. He was almost in a state of shock, like he had been after his earliest battles. If he slept tonight, it's be a surprise. ~~~~~~ "What am I?" he asked. He let the question hang in the dead-still air for a time, thinking. He leaned back against her, comforted by her presence. "I was once the most selfish mortal to ever live. I can never go back to being that, as I've discovered. Now... I am Thanatos Daimonas. I can be no more and no less than that, unfortunately." He left unsaid that, if he had been more, he might not have failed 'her'. He left un-thought what he might be, if he were less. He sighed, feeling the soft breeze return, with all its chill and its comfort. "And perhaps I am Buredo now, too." A rare, mischievous twinkle appeared in his eyes. "You have named me. Perhaps you should tell me who I am." |

"You don't need to do that." the coyote chuckled. "I'm sure you'll all want to be on your way soon enough. I heard stories of Rokan rising with the sun, eager to begin with the day itself. Is that true of all?" Donovan smiled ruefully. "I'm afriad it is, elder. I may be lazy, but only in the evenings. I feel like I can run a mile when the sun rises." The elderly coyote chuckled again, patting Kideia on the arm, nodding in thanks for the comfort. "You're all very kind yourselves. May your gods bless you." She spotted Donovan sitting on the blanket-less bed, moving to open the book. "A few words before you do that, young weasel. Be careful what you read before you sleep. Not all the tales in there are happy or righteous, as in any religion. But I used to hear rumors that those strongly aligned with the Phoenix would have very potent dreams indeed." She looked as though she was thinking of saying something else, but her eyes closed as she drifted off into sleep. Belle made sure to whisper. "Donny," she started, crawling over to her brother, "Are you going to read it?" The male sighed, grasping the edge of the cover. "I'm torn. I want to, yet it's...it's just...I dunno. Incredible. What do you think, Kideia?" ~~~~~ "Aha, is that how this works now?" the tigress replied, smiling as she looked back towards him. "Well. You're annoying. You know what irritates me as if by instinct. You certainly have a way with words and chivalrous mannerisms. But at least you're handsome." Her expression softened as she looked up at the moon. Her voice lost its teasing edge. "You're often sad. You're here, but a part of you is always far away. Tragic, perhaps...you're kind. Compassionate..." She trailed off for another moment. "I find you very noble and wonderful myself. You don't seem like a Death Demon to me." |

Kideia sighed. "All right. I guess we'll have to go early, then!" He watched the conversation continue, after Donovan's explanation of his mornings. The question took him almost off guard, as he'd been expecting to just see what Donovan had planned. He frowned. "Well... I'm not sure. Better to read it than leave it though, I guess. I mean," he let out a little laugh as his frown disappeared, "how bad could some nightmares be anyways? The knowledge could prove useful, and even if it doesn't I'm sure it's worth reading for you." He shrugged, feeling the slight tug of his cloak as it held between his back and the surprisingly comfortable wooden chair. "Honestly, I don't know. I'd say save it for the morning, but we're gonna be leaving early, so now's the only chance you're gonna get for a while." Kideia sincerely hoped he wasn't going out on a dangerous limb with this suggestion. Too many times now, he'd depended on luck to get them all through. And luck obviously could only get them so far, considering how sad Thanatos seemed to be all the time. ~~~~~~ He nodded at her words thoughtfully. If only I could bring that far away part of me back. But, if I do, I might lose 'her'... "'Death' is for my fate," he reminded softly. "And 'Demon' is for my enemy." Thanatos stared up at the moon with Aiyana, somehow pleased to be here with her despite the regrets it brought forth. "'Buredo' is the first name for me, as I am. For that, I thank you." "Thanatos... Do you have a second name? Many do, especially when their name has such a dark meaning. Of course, it does suit one such as yourself..." He felt almost fulfilled, knowing that he now had another name which wasn't of suffering. Sadness touched his heart, when he realized that 'she' had never been able to give him that name. Daimonas had given him his namesake. Aiyana had given him 'Buredo'. |

Donovan nodded. "Yeah, you're right. Here goes, then." He opened the book slowly, coughing as some dust flew up. "Gah, you think someone would...woah..." The words looked like they had been written in sizzling ink. He smiled after he read the first four lines. "The first tale is the one I told you all. No wonder she was so surprised-what's this?" Donovan scanned the pages. An illustration of Rokan graced the page on the left. "Amazing. This picture...it looks more like a memory than a painting." Belle yawned then, leaning against her brother. "Can we all read it together? I can't keep up if you two go ahead." The male hesitated, but closed the book. "All right. We three'll read it together. But we are leaving as the sun rises, since we're getting a decent amount of rest." ~~~~~ "Hmm." Aiyana seemed to be drowsy. "Forgive me for my lack of attention, but...perhaps we should get some sleep. I assume the others want to travel tomorrow, and find some answers." |

Kideia shrugged. "Well, together's just as good. It'll probably save us some trouble, since we won't have to read it three times over that way." Donovan's comment about the picture looking more like a memory had caught Kideia's attention, but he decided not to mention anything. He'd been wondering how Donovan had came back, and now he suspected that he had the first inklings to the the answer of that question. "Tomorrow, after we've traveled some, then?" He hopped out of his chair, and flopped back onto one of the beds. ~~~~~~ "Rest... Yes, that would be wise. We'll be needing it, even if all we end up doing is traveling." The Moriję will be a difficult for us, to say the least. Its conflict with Smoke has had catastrophic results so far. Of course, little had the Moriję known, its real conflict had been with Daimonas. The Moriję sought... Something. Thanatos was uncertain, and too tired to be sure of any ideas he had. Smoke and Nakita had been pawns though, and they had tried to escape. The idea that the universe they had briefly visited had been destroyed was horrifying. That the same might happen to this one was... Thanatos couldn't contemplate it. 'She' had suffered enough without watching the world fall apart around her. And Thanatos couldn't let the world come to an end, with Aiyana in it. |

Donovan nodded, lying down on the blaket-less bed, the tome tucked under his left arm. "Yeah. See you at sunrise." Belle took the last bed, scooting under the covers and hugging a pillow. So we'll read it tomorrow, huh? Together... ~~~~~ Aiyana had already fallen asleep, still leaning against Thanatos. She breathed softly, undisturbed by the cold wind of the desert. She knew that a dangerous road lay ahead. She also knew that any battles would be vicious and extremely important. Every move mattered now. But for tonight... She would rest with Thanatos. If only just this once. |

(( Magical time skip~ )) Kideia awakened. He was groggy but more comfortable than he had been after sleep lately. Donovan was probably already up and about. The sun certainly ways, although it still hid about halfway behind the horizon. He stretched, and thought about waking up Belle if she was still asleep, but decided against it for the moment. He needed a bit of fresh air to wake up himself, and they needed to find the others before leaving anyways. As soon as he was outside, Kideia stretched again and let out a big yawn. He'd not felt so well rested in a long time, but his grogginess still overcame him a little bit. ~~~~~~ He had slept little the night before. Nightmares haunted him, but not of the usual variety. This time, he saw back into his dream. He saw Eirin being slain by the shadows, and he remembered what it felt like to know that 'she' was dead, and that he'd not been good enough to save Aiyana either. No longer would his nightmares be of his suffering under the cultists, he knew. His nightmares would always be of the journey-dream. Knowing that Aiyana was there and alive whenever he awakened from the nightmares helped, at least. He had allowed himself a brief reprieve from his grief whenever he awakened to find her. It would return; it always did, along with the betrayal that came with it. But, just this once, he had ignored it. Thanatos almost stood, but if he had he realized that Aiyana would probably fall over, along with Nakita, so he remained there for a little longer. "Aiyana," he finally began, perhaps a bit too softly to awaken someone. "It's morning." |

Sandopolis Act 2

(( Those are the best kind~. )) Donovan had been up for a while now. He had risen just before sunrise, taking the opportunity to scurry onto the rooftop and watch the beauteous orb of fire claim the sky for the new day. He waited, sitting upright, his eyes never diverting from the sun's advances. As the first rays of dawn began to fall over the land, he felt that familiar stirring of excitement. When the rays finally found his body, he closed his eyes and basked in them, feeling the rays' warmth engulf him. It was a pleasant sensation to start each day with. The weasel sighed, at peace for these precious few moments. His honey-golden fur glowed, but his darker red hair shone brilliantly. He'd bask for just a while longer-only until the sun rose fully above the horizon. ~~~ Belle turned in her sleep, continuing to hug the pillow she had snuggled with the night before. She didn't snore, per say, but her soft breathing could be heard in the silence of the nearly-empty room. The elderly coyote, on the other hand, did snore. Thankfully, it hadn't been loud enough to disturb the sleep of the others. Belle had a feeling that it was morning, but she admittedly loved sleep. Plus, this might be the only time for a long time that she could sleep so soundly. And in a bed, no less. Sleeping for just a while longer couldn't hurt... ~~~~~~~ "I know." Her reply was calm, and probably startling, considering how she had looked asleep. She opened her eyes. "I felt your hand grow cold. You seemed distressed and unable to sleep. I...decided to stay up with you. I hope you don't mind." She lightly squeezed his hand before sitting up, replacing her hood over her head, shadowing her face. "Nakita." she hummed, propping the little she-cat up, rubbing her head. "Nakita, it's morning." The little feline stirred, rubbing her eyes. She looked around, confused at first, but she smiled when she saw Thanatos. |

Flying Battery Act 1
|
(( Yes, definitely! xD )) Kideia left the town, entering again into the desert. It was still very cool, but he knew the sun would fix that soon enough. Now, where would I go if I were some weirdo cat? he asked himself. He didn't totally mean his insults toward them anymore, but calling them names like that was a hard habit to break. Surprise halted him where he stood for a moment. Habit? Had he known them long enough for it to be habit? Maybe this confirmed something about the dark gap in his memories. He guessed that his knowing them wasn't too big of a leap. He shrugged. His cloak ruffled about in the wind. He pulled his cloak tighter around his body, feeling a little bit of comfort from the cold. Kideia continued his trek. ~~~~~~ Thanatos smiled very slightly back at Nakita, feeling the lingering doubts he'd held over her. It regretted him greatly, but he knew it would take some time for him to fully accept that the girl wasn't the Moriję they had fought before. "Good morning, young one." He ruffled her hair a little bit. "We're going to be travelling again today. Do you think you've slept enough to walk?" He crouched down, to be at eye level with her. The mischievous twinkle appeared in his eyes again; it seemed to be growing less and less rare. "If you're too tired, Aiyana can carry you. She carried a dragon once you know." It was a little dragon, true. But, she had carried it. Thanatos worried about what might have happened to Yin and Yang. They might have died, or they might have lived. He was uncertain. |

Sandopolis Act 2

(( Nothing for Donovan and Belle at the moment. Donovan will probably move in my next post. )) ~~~~~~~ The young girl made a motion of giggling, flicking her ears in delight as Thanatos rubbed her head. Then, remembering he had asked her a question, she bit her lip, thinking hard. At last she nodded, waving her tail to show that she was ready to go. Nakita appeared surprised when Thanatos knelt down, stumbling back a few steps. She had been used to him being talker than her, so she hadn't expected suddenly being so close to his face. She blushed, embarrassed. The blush (as well as her embarrassment) soon faded as soon as she heard about Aiyana carrying a dragon. Her purple eyes sparkled in utter awe as she smiled wildly, turning to face Aiyana. The tigress frowned at Thanatos, and for an instant, it was almost the Aiyana that had demanded he leave her forest. "It was a little dragon. A baby. But if you need it, yes, I can carry you." Her gaze softened as she pet Nakita's head. "Let's get moving, before they actually decide to come and get us." |
