I'm seriously excited about this release.
Most of what turned out an rather average experience for some in FC2, have been taken in consideration. It's back to the tropical island, and there's three of them now. There's more to it then just shooting this time, offering an rather interesting FPS experience with some RP elements such as various improvements you can add into the game.

Then they'll also included animals to it. So it'll hopefully become a bit more lively.

And then there's the multiplayer, I loved to tackle on Far Cry 1, back on the xbox, but I only experienced first hand, split screen, never owned a gold account back then.
Nevertheless, as much it's getting more and more increasing by each release, you'll have the option in making your own island, dukeing it out with your friends or foes. He he!

Probably several cut scenes thrown together. Or maybe it's a just teasing us. Nevertheless looks bloody amazing.

Showing off the pricks and scums of this game.

And story trailer to finish it off.

You can probably google it if you wanna find out more.
Now I'm just sitting back, biting my teeth because I want this. Hopefully my high hopes will turn me down, but it won't be that bad, right?
Oh well, I ain't really worried.

I'm going to buy it, and I'm purposefully not looking at too much media about the game. I always do this when I have decided I'm going to buy a game in advance. I like to experience as much in the game firsthand versus have it spoiled for me by trailers and whatnot.

However, from what I have seen, I think I'll really enjoy the game's style. One of my favorite things about Far Cry 2 is its open-ended approach to things. With nearly every mission, you're presented with an objective, a large area to maneuver through, a set of enemies, and a set of weapons to choose from. It's up to you to figure out how to best utilize your tools and the environment to succeed, and there is no clear right or wrong answer for how to do it. You can use stealth, snipe from a distance, blow things up, or just charge in and shoot everyone down with a machine gun. It's all up to you.

FC3 looks like it will deliver more of that in its campaign, so I'm very excited about that. It'll be a great break from super-scripted campaigns in games like Call of Duty or Resident Evil 6.

Just curious on a complete different level Nail.
Considering the PC version or the console versions, then by any chance, witch one? Seen as I still have you as one of my xbox friends, we could take on the cooperative campaign available whence we've settled in.

Of course, it's up to you.
Nevertheless, picked it up by mail today. Haven't gotten around to it yet, but will before nightfall.

I haven't been near to complete this.
Just wanna throw my first initial thoughts!
Game's running smooth, haven't seen one glitch so far. The world seems lively to the extent of being possible. I mean some situations could have been enhanced, but it's not like your about to prior such anyway.

Main character sure ain't the most likeable, but I'd say he's learning rather quick getting the hands of splitting blood

But hey, I've barely scratched the surface, been ending up ditching to much time playing poker.
You could say I love this game, and whenever you feel up for an evening at the co-op campaign Nail, throw me a PM, or we happen to be online at the same time.

Nevertheless, there hasn't been any time to play around with the map editor, that's another feature I can't wait to start working on.

My roommates have a copy and I've seen them play it a bit. It looks really good. Maybe I'll get into it at some point but I have a huge backlog of games I need to play and a bunch more are coming out early this year.

Flying Battery Act 2
I bought it a couple days ago myself. I'd like to share my initial thoughts as well:

- The wildlife system is quite awesome. The island you're on has many, many different kinds of animals, from birds to sharks to komodo dragons to tigers to bears (oh my!)... Each type of animal has different AI and they'll all respond differently to you, other humans, and other animal species. It's really quite interesting to watch a pack of wild dogs chase down some deer, or watch a tiger quietly stalk a herd of goats. Of course, if you don't watch out, you yourself may end being stalked by tigers. You WILL feel the hair stand up on the back of your neck while you're walking through the woods, and then you hear the barking of a herd of wild dogs headed your way. Or a tiger's growl.

I would say the one animal I'm the most afraid of are the komodo dragons. Sure, the tigers are huge and strong, but they often give themselves away with a warning growl. Dragons make a very low hissing sound that's easy to miss, and they're very difficult to see since they snake through the undergrowth just like a lizard would. And before you know it one's upon you and about to chomp down on your leg.

What's kind of funny is that I ended up spending my first few hours just hunting. You need animal skins to upgrade your packs to carry more weapons, syringes, money, and whatnot. So expect to do lots of running around all over the island to find all these animals. The skinning animation is quite disgusting, although since your character only pulls the same chunk of flesh off of EVERY animal, it gets quite repetitive and routine over time.

- Aside from that, FC3 basically plays like FC2, except all of the annoying things from FC2 are gone! And that is a beautiful thing. No more malaria, no more weapons going bad...you open up lots of fast travel points so getting around the island is super easy. Although if you do want to explore the old fashioned way, that in itself is a lot of fun. The island is packed with secret locations, like hidden temples, caves, ruins... There's wrecked aircraft and boats from WWII, not to mention a bunker complex set up by the Japanese during that time period. You can even find old lost relics and lost letters from long dead Japanese soldiers too. If you are an explorer, this is a wonderful game for you.

- One thing I didn't like about FC2 was the hyper-competent human AI. Once enemy soldiers knew you were around, there was no way to lose them. They could see you through two miles of thick underbrush growth and target you easily. I think the developers realized what a problem this was, and toned down the AI's detection ability considerably.

Except now the game has the opposite problem. The AI human enemies are now as dumb as stumps. You can be crouched in open ground just 100 feet away in plain view, and the enemy still won't see you. You can hide behind grass that goes up to your knee (WHILE CROUCHED) and it's enough to hide you from guys only 30 feet away. And if you are caught, no big deal, just run away and flank behind them. They'll never see you coming. The only time human enemies are dangerous (even on hard mode) is when there's a lot of them and you don't have any cover. If you've got a way to escape (and you almost always do) it's pathetically easy to get away.

It also doesn't help that their favorite word is 'F###' and they yell it every two seconds in almost every line of dialogue. Wondering if an enemy is around? Just listen for the f-bombs going off. It actually makes the enemies look both hilarious and stupid since they're just loudly cursing for no reason, when no one's around.
