Disney buys LucasFilms, announce a Star Wars VII as well as likely it being a part of a new trilogy. Expected to come out in 2015, with the next two entries expected "2-3 years later." Disney also says they'll likely be more possible films beyond the planned trilogy Thoughts? I feel so unsure about this. I've been a hardcore Star Wars fan all my life(Spoiler; The original trilogy is my favorite set of movies of all time.). But I'm curious to see how Disney would handle this. I'm assuming it will take place after the two trilogies, because of the episode VII. Now, it would be awesome if it follows the novels(Yuuzhon-Vong War!?), but I'm not sure, because obviously Mark Hamill and others are too old to fulfill their parts, and NOBODY can ever top them for me. Unless it's animated, but that seems kinda underwhelming. So I'm really cautious about this. But before we say anything, while still decent/good, I'm unsure about the direction Lucas originally took the prequel films in, and seeing how Disney is handling Marvel(Who they also bought, and is doing pretty well under Disney.), this could wound up being amazing so I'm not going to fear for my life because Disney's doing the films(Lucas did hand them blueprints and plans I hear, so they're not doing it from scratch.). But obviously I'm unsure in what time period this new trilogy will be in, which is my dying question. Star Wars is my childhood, so I'm hoping Disney doesn't ruin anything however. Slim chance, but I think Knights of the Old Republic can done well, if done right. Post away, guys. Edited by Fenroar, Oct 30 2012, 06:10 PM.

Yeah, it's been rumored for years now that they'd make more movies, but I guess they finally decided. |

I love Star Wars, and I know Disney has made some really great classics in the past, but I am on the fence about Disney producing a Star Wars film. I don't know if they would do it right. |

I haven't much of a opinion on it. I love Star Wars since I was a kid, and I feel like more dramas made about the stuff that happens in the movies is overblown. Hell, I'm one of the .00000000000001% that tolerates Jar Jar. Personally I'm more concerned over another matter. It seems to be becoming a common thing for companies to be absorbed into far larger enterprises. A friend of mine has commented to me before the idea of SEGA being bought by Disney, which I find half silly, yet half plausible. Its worrying to say the least, as it seems that the choices of brand names may just be down to little more then "Brand A" vs "Brand B." My fears that capitalism and a supposed free market would only lead to the creation of massive conglomerates with enough control and capital to ensure they will be around for a long time seem to becoming more truthful with every year. I feel like any attempt now to open up a business would have to hope to be in a area not yet touched by these mega corps and should they finally arrive await to be struck down. After all, nothings fair in love, war, and market. Edited by VlaDDrakkeN, Oct 30 2012, 05:04 PM.

Sandopolis Act 2

Well, on the other hand; speaking as a sort-of Disney insider, I can tell you that Disney and Lucas have been pretty tight for some time now, possibly longer than I've been alive. (I mean, how else does one explain Captain EO?) From my view, I'm not surprised this has happened, as Star Wars and Indiana Jones have had ride presence in the Disney Parks, too. In fact, now that it's happened, I'm left wondering, what took it so long? However, hearing about these plans to release Star Wars movies semi-regularly makes me worry that the franchise will become even more of a cash-cow than it is now. |
| Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk. | |

My thoughts exactly. I suppose POTC or the Marvel films would be a good comparison for what we might be able to expect, but neither has been around for long enough to give us a really good picture. I can't complain too much... at least so far. |

Disney butchered Club Penguin, I don't trust them. The world has no more meaning if they butcher this, yo. |

Flying Battery Act 1

Hmm... To be honest, my opinion on this sits at a pretty neutral stance. Disney and Lucasfilms both have some good movies backing them, and Disney certainly has the money for funding a project of this scale, so from a business perspective I can see this turning out pretty well. Episodes I~III weren't bad, I liked them quite a bit in all honesty. My favourite movies in the whole series are I, III, and V. So from the stance of potential quality degrading as time goes on, it is possible, but I see enough opening for it to stay decent quality that I'm not overly worried in this perspective either. It could turn out well; it could turn out poorly. I don't know. xD I can say for sure that my interest has been piqued, though. Edited by YamiShadow, Nov 1 2012, 08:48 AM.

I was waiting for that. xD But Kingdom Hearts is actually already a lot like Star Wars if you think about. Keyblades / Light Sabers, Light & Darkness = The Force, keyblade and jedi masters, etc. This is really the only thing I'm worried about in how Disney is handling this. A new trilogy is fine, but dozens of new spin-offs and stuff, hmm.... Otherwise, they have handled Marvel and their franchises pretty well. |

*gives this an ancient bump* After being hush hush on the cast despite having already started filming, they finally revealed it. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. Roles are still scarce but I do know it's likely Adam Driver is playing as the villain. It's nice to see the original cast return, especially Ford, Fisher, and Hamill. Reminder that this is all being directed by J.J Abrhams, known for recently working on the Star Trek movies. Also in recent news, as some may have heard, they have also recently shed light on the story, something fans are bound to get mixed on. They announced that in order to let the script writers to write with no pressure and limitations, all Star Wars material that aren't the movies (and the Clone Wars TV episodes) are all non-canon. From Knights of the Old Republic to all the novels that detail Luke's life after the movies. I'm pretty disappointed from this, as someone who read the many Star Wars novels which detailed Luke's life after the movies and his legacy for years to come. I was also secretly yearning to see the Yuuzhong-Vong War animated someday so if that wasn't unlikely before, it definitely is now. Regardless, I have faith in JJ Abrhams so I'm still excited for this. |

It was an inevitability. There were some cool stuff in the expanded universe(the Yuuzhong-Vong) being one of them but there was also a lot of flack. I can see why they'd need to dump the baggage, it's just a shame that they had to let go of the good stuff too. I guess we'll just have to get used to the idea of Star Wars having two cannon universes at the same time... a bit like Sonic. |

Part of me secretly yearns that a slight variation of the Yuuzhong Vong could make itself present in the trilogy but alas. I see what you mean. I just spend so much time reading the material though so it's hard to believe. Abhrams should do a good job though. Also you guys remember they're interested in standalone Star Wars movies too? Well they weren't kidding. They announced a new standalone Star Wars will make its way. However, there is a good staff behind this one according to details so I have no problem with it. |

Mark Hamill has been talking about his return to the Star Wars universe, revealing that he thinks it will be hard for the forthcoming Episode VII to live up to the hype. . . . And what hype would that be then Mark? |
