So I've had an idea that I believe would make it easier for higher rank members of this forum. I believe that when you reach a higher rank stage you should be allowed to change your name without approval of the admins. I do not exactly understand why you do not have to seek approval of admins when it comes down to changing avatars or changing a signature. Couldn't an avatar or signature be as inappropriate as a name could be? I just think that it would be better if higher rank users were given some more trust with such things. That is pretty much all I have to say. Thank you for listening.

I object to your claims

It's mainly done to discourage abuse of the privilege - most people recognize a person mainly by their name and we have had even higher ranking members who changed their name nearly every week in the past. That can get rather confusing when a member constantly abuses the privilege like that.

I see your point. Perhaps if someone abuses that feature you could give that person a warning? I just think it would be a lot easier for people to change their name if someone has registered with the wrong name or something like that. Of course that feature could be earned from getting higher rank. I would imagine those who become higher in rank were more mature when it came down to that sort of thing.

I've gone to forums where they do let you change your name on your own but limited it to once per month. A limit like that could work just fine. You could put it to a vote between you can change with a limit or request without. |

A limit rather then request would be a lot more better and also a lot faster. I am actually pending approval for my new username. And it does take awhile for it to be approved. That is why it should be done on your own standards. Of course the 'once a month limit' is a very good idea to be considered. But to be honest I doubt this topic is really going to be taken seriously.

A limit could work in some fashion. But really, it's not like it takes all that long for a username to be approved. I mean, heck, I check that nearly every day. Besides, I don't even think Zetaboards allows members the ability to change their names themselves at all, now that I think of it. Edited by HollyYoshi, Oct 22 2012, 02:18 AM.

The current system has worked well for a vast majority of the users on this board , It doesn't really seem beneficial to change it to a new system. |

what about limiting a name change to once every 6 months? so that it can't be abused |

You won't get much closer, 'till you sacrifice it all.
|
I think limiting it to once every 6 months is too little. Although there are some members who are contented with their names and keep it for longer, there are people who change it every month or so which is hardly excessive anyway. I don't see how the current name change system has thrown forward any problems thus far, so I don't really think applying any new rules will be necessary. P: |

Christmas is back again

I've been here for what is it. Almost 6 years now. Changed my name during holiday's such as Halloween month and Christmas, but that's about it. Color's on each of our rank's solves a bit that cliche of leaving me completely dazzled about all them name changes some folks tend to do each month. So wouldn't say it's necessarily giving us that authority changing names whenever we want to. Let admins take care of that. It's not like their ignoring you for long, unless it's, well terms of violating anything among the rules. |

Well if Zetaboards does not allow you to do so I suppose there is no point in me arguing about it. Suppose I'll just have to put up with it being approval only.
