Ever since I got Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, Ive just exploded into a Final Fantasy fan. Originally, I only cared to play 1 and 6. But after playing it, I started playing FF7 again(I had previously all but abandoned playing it) and started to see why people liked that game. Heck, not too long ago, I got FF4 on the DS, as well as FF12 Reventant Wings(I know i should play FF12 first, but its not out on the PSN, and I don't trust my 12 year old ps2 to be able to play a used rpg game). So I figure I see if anyone else on here is a FF fan, and see if any of you could suggest a game or not. Personally Ive kinda had some interest in FF5 lately since I don't see much often mentioned about it and am curious about it. I'm also hoping for that and FF6 to be remade for the 3DS. So, thoughts? I'll be there every step of the way...

I have a file on FFV right now... I'm not far, but it's such an amazing game. While the job system can be tedious and time-consuming, it's very rewarding. And I've not even got all the jobs yet. I became a fan of this series earlier this year; my first and favorite is Final Fantasy IX. I've not played a game in recent years (other than the classic Sonic games, which I got into only a couple years ago) that inspired so accurately the same wonder and obsession as my childhood favorites. It was like stepping into the past and making a memory I should have always had. It's just a magical game with brilliant mechanics, and I call it my favorite RPG ever... And if I were to name my top five favorite games ever, it would almost definitely make the list! The other Final Fantasy games I've played are XIII (just a little, but unfortunately, I hated what I played), Dissidia (this one was pretty good, just got repetitive very quickly), and Crystal Chronicles (this one was alright; really charming, though). I've watched my brother play large portions of VI and VII. They both look absolutely amazing and I need to start a game on one of those soon... Edited by Brick Mage, Oct 11 2012, 11:44 AM.

I'm surprised you didn't know I was one. Check out my blog where I list the Top 5 Final Fantasys. (I should probably replace VIII with IV though.) I took a break during the PS2 era, I dunno why, so it wasn't not that long ago when I finally played X and XII. Anyway, of the main series, I played III(DS), IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, bits of XI, XII, and played/saw most of XIII-2(I'll need to get a PS3 so I can play the Lightning Saga). I also rented I and II for the PSP, but it's been so long that I can't give it a fair opinion. Like Maelic, Final Fantasy IX is my favorite RPG of all time, very close to my favorite game. Amazing music, cast, and combines the aspects seen in older FFs to the recent entries before it, creating a wonderful experience of gameplay and story. So that's one you really need to play. I regret waiting so long on X and XII, with the latter being the best entry since IX in my opinion. XII's gameplay and world is asdfg is amazing, though the game is pretty hard if you don't plan your characters accordingly(Make each one specialize in something if you ever play it. Giving them random weapons and magic will get you destroyed and screwed for bosses.). So much to explore and I think it has the best postgame of the series, also having a charming cast. The story could be more, but like V, it's not really the main draw of the game. Also one of the best soundtracks in the series, which says a lot. X is really good as well. Touching and deep cast with a great story, little touches to the gameplay that ends making the whole experience better. Also has one of the saddest moments in gaming. And yes, VII ended up being amazing. I was skeptical coming into it not that long ago, as it's the first time I replayed it in years, but I gotta say it all lives up to the praise. Well. I don't think it's the best game in the series personally, but I don't really mind seeing this entry get more spin-off entries then the others. Deserves it. Play IV if you can as well. I played the DS version, which is really good, but I hear the PSP is even better. Sure either of those are fine. As for FFV, I really wanna play it, but I haven't yet either sadly. Hear the job system is amazing, though, but if that doesn't draw you in, then I doubt the story will judging from what friends said. But I can't say much about it. I didn't like VI though, so my opinions of said games may differ from yours. Played it for the first time recently. Found everything to be extremely bland, though I can kinda see why it might be better at the time, but it's my least favorite entry. I might give an enhanced remake another chance though. Also played Crystal Chronicles, want to play Dissidia. Crisis Core for the PSP was pretty great though. |

How about we start making requests for new Final Fantasy games that resemble ones from gaming past instead of requesting for the same ones ported over and over. |

Good luck with that with Square. I would be a fan of that, since I do like the original ones more, but I'm sure they will do that when they feel the need to is great(much like SEGA or Nintendo). So far, those remakes over and over again are the best chances were going to get to new FF games that resemble the past ones. |

Well Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is launching for PS3 next year. It's an MMO like XI was so I want to try it out, it will only be $29.99 but be subscription based. The beta will be starting soon although no details have yet to be revealed. |

I really don't like Mmorpgs that are subscription based. I get that you gotta pay them servers for something, but when its a established company, Im sure theres many other ways to make the money. Still, maybe if I'm capable, Ill try it, though I heard it got rather panned. Probably explains why it didn't get mentioned in Theratythm. |

Yeah, it's called Pay To Win(P2W) in the form of shitty items that can only be purchased from a microtransaction store but allow you to defeat bosses 10 levels higher than you can deal with. P2W is always filled with kids that have no skill and rich parents so let's be keeping that shit out of our MMO's please

Yeah, XIV was rather bad when it came out, thus Dissidia and Theatrhythm treated like the entry didn't exist. But I actually want to try it sometime, even though like you, I just can't commit monthly fees to an MMO(I did do that for XI for some time though, but eventually I had to stop months later.). Mainly because the staff are surprisingly listening very closely to fans and fixing up all the issues in A Realm Reborn, so give to credit to the developers for not simply giving up after it's horrible release. Plus, the new artwork and world. *__* Reminds me of Ivalice. |

Hm, True, I have to agree. Though in fairness, its not as bad in TF2, since most of the stuff for sale can be technically found(though random) and largely are either for show or its positives are balanced with negatives. |

Coulda sworn I had posted in here already. Huh. Anyway, yeah, I guess I'd say I'm a fan of the series. Then again, I'm a fan of a lot of things so I'm not sure how much that's worth coming from me. But I've taken a stab at most of the main series titles, as well as several of the spin offs. It's a fun RPG series, but probably not my all time favourite. Out of the series, my favourite titles are probably VIII and X. VIII is probably due to the nostalgia ticket since it was my very first look at the series, while X had my favourite story and cast of characters out of the ones I've played. The battle system was also pretty fun too. Kinda helps that I can sort of identify with Tidus on some level, too. Main series aside, I love the Dissidia titles. I'm nowhere near a pro at them or anything, but I just find it really fun to take control of a favourite character of mine and beat the crap out of another series favourite. My mains are a mix of Squall, Laguna, Tidus, Yuna and Jecht. Yuna is probably my strongest out of the bunch, with Tidus and Squall being close seconds. I should get back into the game and get some of the bonus stuff at some point. But yeah. I'd say I'm an FF fan. Provided it's in line with my wheel of obsessions, anyway. ¦P |

All I can say is never play Final Fantasy XIII. Worst FF ever. And it shows in their ratings too. |

I played about 6-10 hours of XIII. I don't think I got very far. Last I remember, I was wandering around as Vanille with Sazh. Worst part about this game is that it takes forever for you to get some sort of control over what your party is like. You're always forced into controlling THIS character for THAT section, before swapping over to another duo and playing as some one else you're not too fond of. FFXIII. No. This is not how you get me hooked. You let me choose who I'm controlling out of my party at all times. You don't dictate who I have to use for that section. :I As a result, I lost my will to go much further. |

I haven't played much of XIII sadly, though I did hear it takes you a long while for it to finally get good. However, don't let it stop you from playing XIII-2 and possibly Lightning's Return. Judging from complaints I read, I can safely say XIII-2 fixes most(If not all) of said problems. @Chaos: Um, a lot of RPGs do that actually, making you flick between certain party members for the purposes in the story, unless I'm misreading or something. Even earlier entries did, though I can see why if you're not fond of them. :B |
