Break out the L-word. The other L-word.
Thought it was a fairly alright topic to offer to you all. So, what do you think of the candidates? Who are you going to vote for, or, if you can't vote, who would you vote for? It'll be nice to see what you all think. ^^

Personally, I think they're both rotten, but I'd rather see Obama get a second term than Romney be elected. The thought of that guy being president scares me, more so than Obama. Which is saying something.

Please guys don't vote for Romney. I don't even live in America but I know he's won't be a good choice.

We are still watching
I'm with Obama. Romney is clearly a bad choice for us. 47% comment aside, he's gunning for PBS, one of the most stable, sane and balanced sources of television that we've had. A staple of our childhoods. An organization that only shows up as 0.01% of the spending in the federal budget. His priorities are clearly in the wrong place and he's just going to enable the same sectors that got us into this economic mess to begin with.

Not that Obama's a saint himself. There've been campaign promises that he's clearly skipped out on, but I chalk that up to either improper timing or partisan B.S. Closure of Guantanamo Bay for instance. Maybe with another term he'll live up to them. Keep in mind, that'd be his last term in any case as the Constitution permits. Four years for him to make or break. Then in 2016, I want Bill Clinton back in office!

I don't know where I'm going.
In my opinion, both candidates have their fair share of ideas, but the disrespect that came from Romney made me lose all respect for him as a politician and a person. I understand his arguments about homosexuality "undermining the economy" and such, but just hearing 47% makes me shake. I'm glad that meeting was leaked. The real person came out behind closed doors.

I don't believe much progress will come to fixing the economic state we live in, but I do believe Obama's second term will contribute a little more, which is fine for me. Seeing a bit of progress brings me hope.

So you think the 47% bit was a bit over the line, but not this? I was not aware of him having said this, but it just makes me much less supportive of him. And by supportive, I mean, "Who do I hate less?"

As a Catholic, libertarian, conservative Republican--who believes in Milton Friedman style economics, who fears the welfare state with Tocquevillian rage, and who thinks elements of the ACA are a crime against conscience--I have to support Obama :|

It's true, I agree with Romney more economically. In theory. In theory because his economics seem to change every month based on what particular section of his party seems dominant and least likely to vote for him. If you actually go by his record, of course, he'll probably not be too terribly different from Obama.

But on foreign policy? Oh, there Romney's not at all the same as Obama. Obama just conducts terror-style drone assassinations in key US "allies." If Romney actually did the insane things he claims he'd do, though, we'd probably fudge China's economy (and our own), alienate Russia, and start a costly/pointless Iranian war :|

Forget it.

My votes on Obama, but in all honesty, its mostly cause there isn't much of a choice.

I was Democrat, but the past years have made me rather disappointed in Obama and the Democrats. Now these days I prefer to see myself as more on the lines of being neither. It just seems like national government is something of the old ages these days(And that if we are truly going to move on to space, a new mindset is going to be needed, as well as a move towards a true international government).

But I am still voting for Obama, cause to me after seeing and hearing so much about Romney(Who apparently also had a hand in getting rid of KB Toys, a toy store I loved), Ive come to not trust a single word of him or the GOP. Doesn't mean I view Democrats in a much better light then it being the lesser of two evils.

I do feel our two party system is as ridiculous as our electoral college. How can we have any real choice if our choices are either A or B of the same two parties that are only a few ideologies from being the same?

Sounds like your choice suck too though, what country are you living in?

Basically, it's a matter of Talking Head A or Talking Head B. Whichever one gets picked doesn't much matter. The way I see it, the country's going to hell regardless. They're both morons, or otherwise intentionally destructive. I'd like to see a third-party candidate one of these days, one that doesn't really have a party, a candidate that speaks the truth, does as he/she says, and actually represents the people. I do not know of any current politicians who actually represent any significant portion of the population. I think the politicians have got it in their head that they have to get the population to represent them--not the other way around.

...

Yeah, we're screwed.

Nice ideas, but that third-party candidate doesn't currently have the money backing them as do the two major parties. Not enough support, other than to sway some of the middle majority to give either Dems or Reps the edge in an election.

Plus, let's face it. Some of the people in America don't even pay attention to all of the issues. If one candidate says one thing they like, they'll vote for them no matter what. Gah. -facepalm-

I once saw a sign advertising Civil Anarchy as a new political system. I found it funny for the longest time, but now maybe it really will be the best option in a few years. = /

I'm pretty sure our Founding Fathers would be ashamed.

Yeah, just... to hell with politics.

All that said, I feel our current President has had a number of lapses in judgment, so giving him another term doesn't feel like a good idea to me.

On a tangential note, has anybody heard anything concrete about a UN treaty concerning the Internet?
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

I'm rather nervous with how things might turn out, considering how close things have been supposedly. It sounds like Obama is really only leading by a small amount.

I don't want Mitt, I pretty much would cry or something. I think he'll make us worse off.
