My DVD player just blew up?

It's been quite awhile since I've posted on =SB= since I've not had anything interesting to talk about. But just a few seconds ago something crazy happened. So I was watching my favourite show Doctor Who with my sister, After it had finished we stopped the recording (Because our T.V has the power to record stuff we are watching) and then turned it off. A few minutes later I tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't work. We tried again, And it didn't work. My sister reset the T.V to see if that would work, But it didn't. After around 3 or 4 attempts to turn it back on, I turned the DVD player on and then tried the T.V (Because we had turned the DVD player off during the events of trying to turn the T.V on) and the back of the DVD player blew up! It wasn't like exploding or anything, And I was lucky it didn't catch fire to any of the game consoles or the wall. But blue sparks were there for a few seconds and there was a loud bang. I'm not really sure if it is know official fudged up. (Covering up swear word) but I'm not really sure what to do. Anyone got any ideas?
-Side note- I've tried turning the DVD player back on and its actually worked. But the T.V is still not working.

Those who do good, do...
if you're having trouble turning on the TV, have you checked the plug?

My guess is faulty wiring.

Something similar happened when we tried to plug our 360 into my little brother's room. Make sure you check the cords for open or split wires.

I object to your claims
O_o Damn...

I'm not sure if taking it to a shop will fix the problem. You might have to get a whole new DVD player.

Pint of real ale please squire!
The cost of DVD players now, it's cheaper to buy a new one then it is to repair. Sounds like it's fubar'd lol!

Yeah, that sounds like it would cost a lot to fix.

I would just buy a new one to be honest. Or use a PS3.

... xD Wow.

I honestly don't know what to suggest in terms of getting the tv working. Maybe check the wiring, or perhaps the breaker for that power outlets just in case.

I use my PS2 to play DVDs, but most modern PCs can read DVDs.
