July 14, 2012 - Kicking off two days of autograph signings at San Diego Comic-Con, Claudio Sanchez and Evil Ink Comics announced today that they have partnered with Stephen Levinson’s Leverage (Boardwalk Empire, Entourage, Contraband) and Mark Wahlberg to develop their graphic novel series The Amory Wars into a live-action feature film. The Amory Wars, a sci-fi saga published by Boom! Studios, recently reached #4 on the New York Times Bestseller List for graphic books.

Sanchez, the lead singer of progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria, originally created the story to serve as inspiration for the group’s albums. He later expanded the mythology to other mediums, including comic books and graphic novels. In 2010, Sanchez collaborated with luminary genre writer Peter David (The Incredible Hulk, Aquaman) to write a full-length prose novel, Year of the Black Rainbow, which told the origin story of the series, and was released with the band’s album of the same name.

The Amory Wars is an epic fantasy set in a futuristic alternate universe. The series chronicles the rise of superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign.

Coheed and Cambria are set to release a new studio album this fall. Their North American tour with Iron Maiden begins July 24th.

To any other fans of the band, sci-fi fans, comic nerds, movie-goers...
Get ready for awesomeness!
