So, I just wanted to know game is best in your opinion, and reasons why. ^^

For modern era I'd suggest maybe SA2, Sonic Heroes or Sonic Generations.

It was a very early test of the gameplay we Sonic fans call "modern gameplay" and you'd be better off playing the later installments (Colors and Generations) instead, as they have greatly improved on the controls and gameplay itself. Honestly, just play one of the classic games first, but not Sonic 1 as it lacks the spindash later incorporated into every other game (except the Modern ones.).

My opinion of the best sonic game would be adventure 2, but like I said. all personal preference. My opinion of the best sonic game would be adventure 2, but others here say unleashed is better, or generations perhaps. it all comes to down as how we like to play sonic.

It's one of the most fun and well done 3D Sonic games. Of course, if you prefer 2D gameplay in general, I would recommend you either play Sonic 2 or Sonic Advance. Those are, in my opinion, the best representations of quality 2D gameplay in the franchise. Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Advance 2 and 3 are good examples as well, but I wouldn't recommend them as a starting point. Sonic 1, the veeerryyy original, is special in its own right, and it actually is a decent place to start too. Of course, if you were to only play one game, it wouldn't really be the one I recommended though. If you're a real fan of plot, my top recommendations would have to be Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Adventure; in the order of that list completely. So, yeah. It really depends on your preference. Overall, the top three I would recommend playing would have to be Sonic Colours, Sonic Advance (I honestly find it to be a more 'relaxed' game than Sonic 2, so it's probably better as a starting point), and Sonic Adventure 2. If you play no other games, definitely play one of those three.

Modern Era - Sonic Colours/Sonic Generations. I seriously can't choose between the two, as both are excellent, though Generations is more of a homage to everything. So Colours as the proper favourite of the Modern Era, but Generations is equally as amazing.

I loved it.
