Okay, so I was thinking about my old Sonic games and how much I love them (Nerd). So, I decided to look up a review for my favorite game of all time: Sonic Adventure DX for the Gamecube.

As much as I loved the game, I knew it had flaws. But I had no idea it had so many flaws that it would be rated 5 out of 10 D:<. Personally that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in my fanboy life.

That game was my childhood jam-packed on a small disc. I didn't have a memory card back then, so I remember trying to beat the game in one day by playing it for like 7 hours. And you know what? I enjoyed every second of it. The critics at IGN say the sounds and music were the worst. They were the best! I still remember the main riff when you start up the game!

To conclusion: I think it should be rated 100/10. But I am just a fanboy who enjoys anything to do with Sonic haha. So, tell me what you think!

The Gamecube version had glitches while the PC version did not, besides you can mod the PC version. You can change the characters to look like other characters, as well as generate your own chao.

Also, IGN are horrible critics that no one should listen to. Remember, can't spell ignorance without IGN!

But yes, it was an amazing game.

Now what is a review basically? Its someone opinion. Opinions don't equal facts, I can never stress that enough so while you could make a 10 page review about a game saying it sucks or its good its always the average Joe who gets too see if the game is good or not.

Of course people will look for review to see if the game they are looking for is a good buy or not but its never something that should just make you give up on playing a game.

Now I love SA and SA2, being high up on my top 10 games of all times, but I don't think you guys need to be all this angry because one guy gave it a bad review. Many people gave it good reviews or bad, its there opinion not law.

If I had to choose I would go by "Gamespot" reviews because it has two numbers. The official site review that gives the game "5.7" and the users review average that gave it a "7.8" a more true value because it comes from the average gamer and fan of the game.

Again were talking about the gamecube version of a game that was out already, it didn't had a lot to the original so I'm not surprised by the low score.

The Sonic Adventure games haven't aged well, and are playable to a certain extent. That's the main thing wrong with them in my opinion, but they're still on my list of favorite games. But you have to understand that reviews are just someone else's thoughts on a video game, why should you be mad at that? As long as your happy at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

If I remember correctly, IGN gave the Gamecube re-releases a lot of heat, although the original Dreamcast versions were generally praised.
I agree that Sonic Adventure hasn't aged well, but I think all in all, it's a really great game that deserves a lot of credit--at the time, fully 3D Sonic was mostly unexplored territory, and they pulled it off quite well. I do prefer Adventure 2, though.

P.S. screw IGN. Heck, screw most game critics.

I really don't listen to game critics in general, especially not Game Informer or IGN. They always seem to be the culprits of giving good games bad reviews. ¬_¬ But you gotta remember; everybody has their own opinions on something. The only person's opinion that should count is your own. Just ignore what game critics say about any Sonic game. Haters gonna hate. Y'know? XD I personally liked the Adventure series and even Heroes, and a lot of people hate Heroes, but I could care less.

Game critics in general should never be listened to under any circumstances whatsoever. And while I don't really like SA1 all that much, I'd say it deserves at least a 7.

Never really turned to reviewers to see if a game was good, I always look for a trailer, for the simple fact that there's a good chance their opinion will differ from how cool the game looks from where I'm looking, so there's no point. Also, this is the reason I stopped watching G4. I use to watch X-play so I can get info on new games coming out, but many of them don't interest me, and I don't need to listen to the to host babble about shit(it doesn't help that like many reviewers, have to make snide remarks about recent sonic games whenever he's in discussion, since many of them are classic fanboys anyway. I don't need to hear again that they don't like'em). If I want to know about a new game, I can go straight to youtube right now, that's how I find out about Binary domain after seeing it on Sega's website.

This is pretty much what I wanted to say.

As for SA1, it's a pretty decent game. I'd at least give it a 6.5, maybe a 7.

As it's been mentioned, a lot of people don't have love when it comes to IGN's reviews. On a similar topic, regarding reviews, that's just it, a review is a review. You should take them with a grain of salt -- do read what other people have to say about the game, take it into account, but form your own solid conclusion on the game.

Personally, I think SA (DX mind you) was a fun game. It certainly has its flaws, and could have been better instead of just a port with a few tweaks. But it is a rather fun game and I enjoyed pretty much every minute of it. I'd say, in my opinion, it deserves a 7 at least.

IGN is bullshit. Adventure Director's Cut was the best game. They have to realize, not that much games had good graphics at that time. Not to mention the game was as high quality as other games I've seen at that time besides games from Sony and Microsoft! DX How about they rate games for their plot, sequence, and story INSTEAD of graphics and music. DOES THE GAME WORK? Yes. IS IT PLAYABLE? Yes. So why whine about graphics when it is still a very fun game to play?

Um, I just went on IGN and read their review - like, right now. They DID mention the gameplay and they DID mention that they had problems with it. And they actually PRAISED the graphics to an extent.

Seriously, some of the comments in this thread are literally giving me a headache. People are allowed to have differing opinions! So there are people who don't like the game that much. But it's their opinion and they have the right to it. I mean, (and you're going to get tired of me bringing this up - I'm already getting tired of bringing it up) look at SA2. A lot of fans consider it the peak of the franchise. I think it's the worst of the main 3D games. (note; I don't hate it, but I do have a whole lot of problems with it).

That's right, you're reading that correctly.

And on the flipside, know how nearly everyone hated the Werehog gameplay in Unleashed? I think it's better than the Daytime gameplay.

And guess what? Those are my opinions and I am entitled to them - and so are other people with theirs.

And now it's time to bring up the question of why people bother rating games at all if someone else's opinion of the game might be completely different.

It's not the reviews themselves that get me. There was a topic about game critics before, and the conclusion we came to is that the ratings system should be terminated altogether. If people want a review, they should read through the article that the critic wrote out and form their own conclusion from that instead of looking at a number and judging the game immediately.
