Carnival Night Act 1
|
http://www.9news.com/video/9newsonline.aspx (Link is to a live feed, may not work later on, but at this present time it works and is where I'm finding most of the information) There isn't a published story on this yet, as it only just happened an hour or two ago. What I've gathered is that a man in a gas mask, about 15 minutes into the film, let off a canister in the front of the theater, and then opened fire on those in attendance. The gunman prevented people from leaving easily via more gun shots. The incident left 10 dead in the theater. Another 50 were sent to the hospital, and 4 died following arrival. The gunman's apartment building had to be evacuated due to more explosives and things in his apartment. Many witnesses have been asked what happened, and more will likely develop by tomorrow, but some horrifying tidbits include a baby being shot among those injured, bloody bodies being carried out.... just a horrifying situation. All I have to ask is... What is wrong with people this day and age..? :/ Edited by Dubbmatic, Jul 20 2012, 01:47 AM.

What's wrong with...people? You can't consider them something they are not. This world is forever-changing and will stay that way. The world is not what it used to be, COMMON SENSE NO LONGER EXISTS, and people have different perspectives of what's right and wrong. Honestly, I don't care for people that die. Even if it was my family. Of course, I'd be surprised or sometimes, not surprised, but people LIVE...and people DIE. Life's not fair and people can't deal with it. Or, that person who killed and injured that much could probably be dwelling on something that's not worth dwelling on. Like past events. The person could probably be angry at life and think the world revolves around him. But still, what I think is wrong with people is...THEY ARE INCOMPETENT OF LIVING A NORMAL LIFE AND TRY TO DEFY SOMETHING THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFY. The law... |

Oh, what a headline this'll be; "Masked Gunman Kills 14, Injures 50 at Superhero Movie Premiere". The irony is palpable. It's like the ultimate 'in your face' to those who still believe the world is worth saving; a real-life villain flaunts his crimes almost in mockery of a real-life hero to stop him. All the authorities could do in this situation was stop him from killing more and cleaning up afterwards, but the damage was already done. The thing is, we're in a period of time where it's too easy to commit crimes nowadays. Sure you'll get caught in the end, but if you don't care about that part (as most psychopaths/sociopaths tend towards) it really doesn't act as much of a deterrent before the fact. Furthermore, I'm convinced - from personal experience - that mental instabilities and handicaps are increasing in frequency with every passing generation. Assuming that such things are genetically inherited (they aren't always, but some predispositions certainly are), our species is probably just going to degrade more and more as time goes on. We won't be able to walk the streets for all the cutpurses and cutthroats soon enough. Most horrifying of all... there's no way to stop it. So all we can do is just put on a brave face and do our best to hold out against a corrupted world for as long as possible. *shrug* |

Jesus... people these days, can't they at least let people enjoy a damn movie they've probably waited to see for six years first before deciding to shoot everyone. Great, those people that died will probably forever wonder how it all ended in the afterlife or wherever people go after they die, what an asshole that guy was. Hell, if it was me that died... I would have haunted the prick. Alright, joking aside. It's pretty tragic and horrifying really, that someone like this can just walk into a theater and kill ten people outright with four later dying of injuries and injure fifty more in a movie that they've waited to see for a long time... It'd be like finally getting Mass Effect 3 and then a burglar busts into your house and kills you before you can even get past the prologue, the horrific part being that there anyone in the world could do this if they put enough effort into it, all it takes to make someone do all of this is just one... bad... day. But it's just sickening, people shouldn't be taking other peoples lives at all... I hope this guy gets what he deserves. Edited by Virgil, Jul 20 2012, 03:48 AM.

The guy who shot people in the theater caused police to turn up in kevlar vests and gas masks, also I heard about it on a radio channel, and I thought "That guy is a *beep!*ing idiot!" |

Yeah i couldn't beleive it when i heard it on the radio news this morning, literally as it happened my local time (06:30). http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-18921492 Comes to something now when you can't even turn up to a premier event without fear of being killed. I mean, what will it take to try and stop these things, security frisking everyone down before going to see a film in a free country? Sad state of the world :o( Security at the Olympics is nuts at the moment, i mean having all these measures in place because some arsehole might think it all high and mighty to go and blow people up! Grrrr Edited by Ellis, Jul 20 2012, 09:04 AM.

I only heard it through my college at work, probably hearing it through the news or customers mingling about what's happened. The reason for this, only one example why home's safest for us all. Even if that ain't always an reassurance. But these folks just give us a reason to stay wary of local areas with, large crowds, probably only looking for some fun. Instead they'll have a lunatic killing innocents. Serious I'm with most. What the hell's wrong with them? |

I first heard about this incident on here, before BBC News had even broadcast it, funnily enough. Stupid psychopath just wanting attention. Part of me wants the world to know about it, because it is breaking news, but at the same time I want everyone to forget it, as it's attention that said killer wants. |

Apparently he fancied him self as the Joker. By colouring his hair red, it's obvious that someone has taken a character role way to seriously. |

he was trying to be the joker? I've heard about this kind of thing, he was COPYING the joker himself, I remember I was told about someone who was copying this film about some serial killers who become heroes, and he was copying the serial killers, perhaps this guy was doing the same thing... |

Well now it's official. He left his home, full with triggered explosives. He was clearly mad. Haven't found any source of news in USA or UK, but hey I'm following Norwegian sites. Another one wanting his name printed all over the magazines for the next couple of days, or should I say weeks. |

Sandopolis Act 1
|
You're assuming there's something wrong with people in this day and age that wasn't wrong in other days and ages. The world has not gotten any more violent. Of course we see horrible acts, but the fact that they're so few and far between simply makes them seem more unique than they really are. Of course it's scary. Something like that could happen to you or a loved one, I do not deny that possibility; however, the simple facts are the world isn't any more fudged up than it was in the last 400 years. Even with the Internet and video games (U.S violent crime rates have nearly halved since the early nineties). Just gonna leave that there, I guess. EDIT: Read Miracle's post and now I feel like a douche. Huh. Also, another reason why it's safer to pirate your movies. Edited by Fwiss, Jul 21 2012, 05:30 PM.
