"The pun, also called paronomasia, is a form of word play which suggests two or more meanings, by exploiting multiple meanings of words, or of similar-sounding words, for an intended humorous or rhetorical effect." -Wikipedia I am really excited to discuss all of the puns in the Sonic Universe. There are countless puns, and not all of them are even for the English Speaking Audience. We already know some of the basic ones. "Tails" name, Miles Prower is a pun on the phrase Miles Per Hour. My favorite one, however is: "Hedgehog". To me, this is a pun on the phrase "Stop beating around the bush", which is a way of saying "Get to the point". the joke being that hedgehogs are pointy What's your favorite Sonic Pun? Put the pun in bold so it stands out on the page. |

... y'know I never really notice the Miles Per Hour thing. Pretty sure someone pointed it out to me before but I forgot about it. xD Hedgehog seems like a bit of a stretch to me. At least in terms of being a pun. ^^; As for my own puns... I can't really think of any right now. Which is odd. Hm. Well I'm sure I'll add some of my own if they come to me~ |

Coconuts and Cocoa-Nuts are phonetically identical. Coconuts, the monkey in Sonic 2, is way larger than is necessary for proper climbing-and throwing functionality. I propose the extra space in Coconuts is a machine that coats nuts in Cocoa. So even if he isn't throwing coconuts, he's still throwing Cocoa-Nuts. Fine. Truth is, I got nothin'. But hey, the Miles Per Hour thing I never knew about, so I learned something today. |

Really guys? You haven't heard of the 'Miles Per Hour' thing?  What's wrong with you people? xDAnyway, in Sonic Fighters Amy has the nickname of 'Rosy the Rascal', which is a pun on Rosey the Riveter. |
