So as many of you may or may not know, I am starting a webcomic series called LostInSonic, I won't go into detail because all information can be found on the webcomic page itself that you can find in my signature below, But anyway lets just get down to the point, I was thinking that since I can't find the backgrounds that I want and need for my webcomic I wondered if I could just create them using minecraft, But I just don't like the fact the world there is made of blocks, I'd like to know if you guys think its a nice idea to use them, But also If I may just ask, Are there any games like minecraft that don't lag and that can build stuff, And if possible is not made of blocks? Apart from that I just want to know if its a nice idea to use minecraft backgrounds for the webcomic, Thanks for reading |

As a former sprite comic author I'm not sure this is the greatest idea, but it's certainly creative. I'm just not sure the sprites and the 3D worlds will mesh so well. Still, I guess we'd have to wait and see what the end result is. I say fiddle around with it a bit and see what looks best. |

It would probably look strange depending on the angle of the screenshot. As long as the minecraft pictures were more of a flat look along similar lines with the sprites, or a sort of isometric view may possibly work. Terraria is a 2D "minecraft-ish" game. I don't know what sprite databases you're looking at, but there are some that have build your own backgrounds. There's also quite a lot of those within the Sonic games section that I know of. |

I never thought of making my own backgrounds THAT way, The thing is I want to have better angles for my comics, And also I want them to look more real other then been sprite, I don't really want sprite backgrounds because there just flat, But I guess (Since minecraft backgrounds don't seem to work very good) I'm going to have to just go back to using the normal sprite backgrounds. Oh well. |

you know, I think you should just use them if you want. Don't let other people stop you. My opinion on the mincraft background is maybe try to edit them somehow. just incase if you don't want them blocky. if not, then you should just leave them as is, and use minecraft backgrounds for your comic. Hmmmm, well, Theres Something Odd about Tails used 3d backgrounds for its sprite comics, and they went well together. The thing is, he also had dark sprites that went with them and they fit with them. So long as you have a good texture pack to go with it and sprites that fit, I don't see why not. .......why did I never think about that...? Minecraft backgrounds for sprite comics....I may have to...burrow, that idea. Edited by VlaDDrakkeN, Jul 10 2012, 01:33 AM.
