Yep.
Yeeeah, well, if your gonna just tell us "I died in the middle of the stage!", that's not helpful really. Where exactly? How did you die? By what?

But well, whatever the case, if you want to not continue the game all over again, there is a level select code. Search it up on the internet. Not doing it for you.

GOOGLE.

Loosing lives in the Genesis/Mega Drive titles is just unheard of.
Practice makes perfect.
Metropolis Zone isn't a challenge.
Shits weak, son.
A challenge you should be doing by now is getting all 7 emeralds by Emerald Hill act 2.
Word.

Ugh. But that damn fourth Chaos Emerald man. I was playing this the other night and it kept eluding me. I'm really starting to dislike S2's special stages. Blue Sphere all the way.

Still, I've never had to use a continue before. I've died, sure. But not enough for a game over. |P

Oy, play nice. Your attitude sinks.

I got Sonic 2 about 6 months into my gaming "career" and distinctly recall Metropolis being an utter bitch. And it would be, as I was pretty new to the concept of gaming.

With time, a lot of us have gotten better and better at Sonic and gaming in general(doesn't help that games are getting softer and softer with no real challenge...) and tend to forget that there ARE people out there who might not be up to the same level as us. We can complete a game without losing a life, but it doesn't mean we should mock those who can't do that too.
After all, it's just a game. Who gives a shit about how good people are so long as they're having fun?

This thread, seriously, needs a MAJOR fudgeING BOOT UP THE ASS. So far it's highlighting why the Sonic community is looked down upon from the outside. You should be giving encouragement, not mocking the OP for being sub-par at an older title! Were you not crap once when you first started? I know I was!

GeminiShadow, when people ask for more specifics they're trying to figure out exactly where you are when you die. Can you describe the particular part you're stuck on? I'm going to guess the part with the giant spinning cogs and the blocks with pop-out spikes, all over the top of a lava pit. That part's insanely hard even nowadays - and it's all about the timing. Don't rush through it, take it one block at a time. The spikes rotate clockwise ;)
If that's not it, then hopefully that serves as a nice example of what people are looking for when they're trying to help you.

Now this thread needs to shape up, or I'm requesting Bliz take a look. I'm really not impressed...

I object to your claims
Or, Blaire could take a look on her own terms.

Let me ask you all a question. When do you think I first 100% Sonic 1?

When I first got it? Ha, not even close.

It was this Tuesday.

I've had the Mega Collection version of this game for going on ten years and I only managed to 100% it this week. And part of the reason why is me always dying at the worse moments. I still die all the time on Marble Zone - and that's only the second stage! Does that mean that I'm 'weak' and all that? No. Not it does not.

And in this thread, it's freaking Metropolis the guy is talking about. It's one of the later levels in Sonic 2, so, naturally, it's going to be hard. And, naturally, people are going to die halfway through the stage! And the fact is that some people just have trouble with games at times.

And what do they need?

People to mock them and call them 'fail' because they can't beat an older game?

No.

They need help and encouragement.

Therefore, I'm putting my foot down right now - stop acting like assholes people. Instead of treating the OP like he 'fails' because he had trouble with one of the last stages in a Genesis game, at least offer some support to him.

Seriously people, knock it off. Now.

Anyway, I'm afraid I myself can't be too much help since I have not played through Metropolis in forever, but I clearly remember it being a bitch. I also remember beating it after many painstaking tries. So yeah, it's gonna be hard, but I have a feeling you'll beat it eventually. ;) (And you'd be able to taste the sweet satisfaction of conquering such a difficult level)

In my defence, Bliz just has that reputation. Mention her name and catch her on a bad day(or even worse, a good one - heaven forbid you catch her and piss her off when she's in a good mood, or even when you grab her trolling side!!) and, well, you know the rest ;) You're not vicious enough yet but you're certainly on the right road!

Yeah the key to a Sonic game usually is memorization. Sometimes it takes multiple playthroughs to get it down pat and even then, you might forget something or screw up.

Then when you get good at it, you can do your own things. Like for example, when I was a whee lad I would see if I could beat one of the many Genesis games w/all the Chaos Emeralds at the end before I finished listening to an Ozzy Osbourne album. (usually Bark at the Moon : P)
