Ello everyone. I'm looking for the new sonic games, but they all seem to suck. I got Generations, and that was one hell of a fun time, but are any of the other new ones good?

Oh hell I posted this in the wrong bloody section. Sorry!

Eh, Sonic Heroes wasn't THAT bad. Could have been better but for what it was it was kind of enjoyable.

At the same time I also enjoyed Sonic and the Black Knight, so what the heck do I know.

Anyway, I'd recommend Colours myself. It was pretty fun and the wisps added a fun new element to the gameplay. Was a bit short though. But I guess Sonic games are always short. *shrug*

If you're looking at handhelds, the Rush series is pretty decent too. Basically depends on what you're after.

Fix'd your post for you.
Eh, the critics were pretty nice to Heroes and haven't really dogged it with the fervor they've done ShtH or even SA2 in recent years. It seems like a non-entity; a game too inoffensive sans its large roster to point fingers at.

I liked all the main console games, even 06 despite it's execution being off. The only sonic game I have plated yet is colors. I haven't because my wii doesn't work, however, the game has nothing about it that appeals to me, even the music sucks to me, especially the theme song. I've already played unleashed, how is it better for virtually being the same without the warehog, the part I liked most about it anyway.

Also, can anyone explain this to me:
One of the bad comments about the warehog is that it's repetitive, yet people like colors for being constant. Doesn't Repetitive and Constant virtually mean the same thing, and if so, how is one game good for it and one game isn't. Also, if a game is good just for being constant, wouldn't that mean all constant games are good? Just have to ask, the two words are used for the wrong reasons to me.

I think personally that Sonic 4 Ep 1 and 2 were both OK if you're looking for the 'classic' feel. Also Sonic CD for 360/PS3/Steam was good too, not really a 'new' game but it has Tails, which is a fun new add-on. Now that I've added my two-cents I'll be back to lurk status.

Okay, I haven't played episode 1 yet, but if you're looking at Sonic 4 for the "classic" feel, DO NOT get Ep I.

Actually, don't get Ep I anyway, unless you like wasting money. It sort of looks like a classic game, sure, but it plays nothing like the sort. Get Sonic Advance if you want a good neo-classical Sonic game.

IMO, sonic 4 EP1's problem for me isn't about it not playing like the classics, it's that the game tries so hard to be classic, it feels more like I'm playing a 3D sonic 1 then a new title at all. Sonic 4 EP2 was an improvement though, it felt a lot more fresh then EP1, and I liked the team up ability. However, since EP2 is better, might as well get that, and not get EP1 unless you wanna try EP Metal.

Well both of them tried too hard to be classic, IMO. Ep I seemed like a new take on Sonic TH and Ep II seems like a new take on STH2. Especially because of the special stages, if anything. But I thought they were ok, it seems you younger lot are just tough critics. LOL.

My hatred for Episode I has nothing to do with its attempt at trying to be like the classics. It was a horrible game with horrible controls, bland music and boring environments. My feelings for it would be no different if it were a game outside of the classics, or even outside of Sonic.

For one thing, I'm 23, born 2 years before sonic 1, bu started with sonic 2. Also, from my experience, it's actually the older players who criticize the games the most, especially since many of them I ran into liked the classics but think that every 3D game till colors sucked. No respect at all man.

@Lemmy:
I can agree with that, not to mention it's barely replayable at all, so is EP 2 for the most part.

*clears throat*

Sonic '06, in my most humble opinion, is the best Sonic game of the bunch. It had the most serious storyline you could ever get from a game originally aimed at kids, Sonic Adventure 2 only seconded to it. I have yet to play Secret Rings or Black Knight, but I've played the PS2 version of Unleashed, and it's alright, but not as good as the next-gen version. Yet to play Colors, as well, but trust me, the DS version is just a clone of Rush. Generations was fantastic, I always loved how they brought classic levels into the game and gave it spectacular remixes. I also always imagined on how this style of gameplay can be brought into other franchises, but that's going on the off-topic road.

Sure, I've played all the classics, S3&K and Knuckles' Chaotix were the best of that era, but there isn't really anything wrong with the modern games that I've seen so far. At times like these, when a video game series gets a bad reputation, it's more of bad luck than general criticism that everybody despises them.

There is a fact behind Sonic '06's bad reputation, its development was rushed by Microsoft and Sony, thus the game felt like a beta/alpha/whatever you want to call it, but if SEGA had precious more time, it could have been at least less criticized than it is today. I personally love it, due to storyline and the variety of playable characters, and I find it to be seriously underrated. I'm dissappointed it got such a bad reputation, because trust me, there are far worse Sonic games that you would almost always favor '06 over.

I just want to point out that games are rushed all the time, and the cause for '06 coming out so horribly was probably due to laziness combined with Sonic Team having to find a new president after Naka left. And while it was an okay game to me, I really can't see how it can be anyone's favorite due to how absolutely broken it really is.

While not my favorite, it ties with unleashed for 3rd place in my top 4. It was broken, but I found many things it did to be too sick to hate the game. Sonic snowboarding though a burning city to later run a full speed while being chased by a tornado, Shadow still driving armed vehicles(Driving the buggy in crises city reminds me of the final level of Halo 3, which I played with my little brother), and I just liked using Silvers powers, which was A nice addition for Variety. Most of the helper character weren't that go I'm afraid, but Omega was just as fun to use as the hedgehogs. He should make a come back again doing the same thing he did in 06, just needs better weaponry.

In my Honest opinion, I would've respected Sega more had they looked over how F'd in the A 06 was, and did their best to take everything from it, and make it better in a new game, instead of the sonic roots, solo, and classic remakes we've been getting, I don't find them as interesting as the games before 06, especially colors.

Colors was just...

Boring, really.

I mean, I loved the Wisps to death, and they really saved the game for me and are the reason I still consider the game good, but...

Really, that was pretty much it. It just felt boring doing something that didn't involve Wisps.
