[insert something cheerful here]

I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this already.

Nevertheless, while I liked the second film better than the first, it wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. So when I went to watch this one with my siblings and mom last night, I wasn't sure what to expect. But man was I blown away!

There's not nearly as much plot development here as in the second, and for the most part, you can predict what the characters will do and what will happen at the end of the story early on. However, HOW the characters do it and the exact manner in which the story progresses is not all that predictable, and a lot of the fun comes from that.

This is also one of the few animated movies I've watched lately where I am perfectly capable of enjoying ALL of the characters that appear on-screen, because they're all fun and amusing and none have any of those annoying qualities that a lot of screenwriters think is a must in order to get kids to laugh. The chase scenes also have to be some of the most hilarious, exaggerated, over-the-top, craziest and greatest animated chase scenes I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

And if you thought the graphics, animation sequences and all that junk from the previous two entries in the series were good (I sure thought so), then you'll be happy to know that this movie outdoes them. There are many pretty scenes that are of equal or slightly above the level of quality from the previous Madagascar movies, but the London circus act is nothing short of exhilarating and gorgeous. My sister and I sat next to each other at the theater and we spent that entire scene swooning, "aww"-ing, "ooh"-ing, squealing and giggling, and that's coming from a girl who rarely ever reacts to movies out-loud when at the theater. IMO, totally worth the price of admission. Heck, I'd pay full price all over again only to watch THAT scene on a large screen one more time.

And even with an already very tried plot, the story is still fully charming and enjoyable. Mainly because the way it goes about and is told is, well, genuinely entertaining and somewhat... personal? Well, you know, it's something that you probably can only imagine coming out of a Madagascar film. So yeah, I'd definitely say go watch this on the big screen.

Little note: I did not watch it on 3D. All movies I've watched on 3D are more expensive, have grainier graphics, give me headaches, and aren't nearly as INYOURFACE as they're always promoted to be, so I can't vouch for that.

So yeah. Discuss~
