"I'm not sure. It looks like a map of the stars, but..." Taylor's voice trailed off. "I don't think it is... But if they aren't stars... Why's this connected to a ley line, anyway?" As soon as Taylor said "ley," thin beams of light started stringing themselves between the 'stars.' Taylor took in a breath. "It's a map of dimensions!" he realized. "At least, it looks like..." Whatever Mona did, caused the map to zoom in on one of the white stars, which seemed to form itself into a globe of the world they'd come from. "Is that...?" |

"Oh!" Mona gasped out in surprise. Luna hovered over Mona staring at the globe,"It is..." SICC-D's voice carried from where she stood,"Vactonis.." Luna nodded,"A map of dimensions huh? Fran will have a field day with this information when she sees it." the wolf stated. Mona walked away and started to look at all the other dimensions with her face holding a awkward expression."And to think, you guys would have never seen this without me." she said proudly. "If it wasn't for Taylor, you'd probably be seeing the Grim Reaper right now." Luna commented to herself. |

"Not how I would have like to test the stability or the safety of the tunnel. That was about as reckless as you can get, alright? For all we knew, it could've killed you. And one way or the other, I would've checked this place out while we were testing the tunnel," Taylor said. "Still, it's historic. You're the first person from your world to safely travel dimensions using technology. It can't just be a map..." he muttered, poking some of the other dimensions' "stars", with the globe of Vactonis disappearing to show the maps of other worlds as well. Phantom script in an unfamiliar alphabet appeared with some of them when he called up the worlds represented by colored stars. "Can't read it... SICC-D, you getting this? I wonder what the people who built this were like?" All of a sudden, Taylor must have poked the wrong world or something, because the bluish glow from the walls faded to an angry red. "Uh-oh," he said as the tower quaked. The crimson light started to creep up the walls past the door. "Maybe... we've overstayed our welcome..." he muttered as he stepped out of the middle of the room, dispelling the map. |

"But I was just..." Mona started before SICC-D cut her off."Recorded information stored." the robot reported as the tower began shaking. Mona felt SICC-D grab the back of her shirt and lift her off her feet."Caution advised." she added."If we're quite finished...." Luna said loudly tilting her head towards the door. The wolf quickly made her way out a ways behind SICC-D as the mechanical dog jetted out with Mona in hand. "And you told her not to touch anything." Luna teased. |

"Yeah, well," Taylor said as they booked it outside. "Keep moving, keep moving! For all we know, it'll explode," he yelled. He would slow down as they passed the outer wall of the fort, and the tower would collapse upon itself in a crash. "Well, that sucks. At least it isn't a total washout. We got some of the map on camera, and then there's the matter of sifting through whatever's left. Still, a construct like that... that's not your basic 'cast-and-done' spellwork. They built that thing... somehow. If at some point we figure out who 'they' are..." He sighed guiltily. "Too much solo fieldwork, I guess."

"Well, we got what we came for...and more." Luna spoke out while catching her breath."You can figure that all out when we're back home." she finished. SICC-D opened her hand and let Mona land a little hard on her feet. The monkey ran in circles around them,"I say we should take another look around, we might find something else." Luna crossed her arms and posed there for minute."You've had enough fun for today." Luna replied. SICC-D nodded in agreement,"Correct, child must be returned home safely." the robot added. Mona whined out of disappointment,"No on asked you..." she grunted silently. |

"We need to get back, anyways. Show Fran what we found, maybe see about picking apart that weird brick. As for the rest of it... archaeology isn't my strong suit," he said, not giving an opinion about letting Mona come back. Personally, he thought if these kids were gonna grow up part of the WWPO, they'd need some experience out in the field. He wended his way back up the path to the gateway, back into the lab. "Sorry we're late... we got distracted." |

"Well, it's about time. I started to worry." Fran replied with a sigh of relief. Fran was able to fully calm down when she seen everyone come through the gate. Mona bounded into the lab before Luna then followed by SICC-D. Basel and Drake gathered around Mona greeting her back playfully."Brought you guys back a souvenir." Mona pulled the stone from her pocket and revealed it to the boys. Fran took a look as well. "A rock...?" Drake scoffed. Mona huffed and gave Drake a sour look."Not just a rock...a weird rock." she explained. "Right?" she asked Taylor. |

"It's not a natural stone, or at least not one I've seen," Taylor said concerning the hunk of brick they'd brought back from the ruin. "I know you're more in tune with technology than magic, Fran, but I think that material was drawing energy from the void and powering some kind of magical construct with it. Unfortunately, I kind of screwed up, and the construct destroyed itself. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was a map of the interdimensional void, if not more than that," he reported. "All things considered, not bad for a test run of the gate generator, though," he added as an afterthought. |

"Are you serious?" Fran asked showing that Taylor peeked her interest. "A map of...this is..incredible!" Fran grabbed the stone from Mona and took it to the table where she does most of her work. She pressed a silver button on the table and the lamp on the table lowered itself upon the stone."Please tell me you at least got some footage of this map...or at least some pictures.." she said while twisting the stone around on the table. |

"Yeah, thought of it as soon as we got into the fortress, actually. SICC-D got footage of us encountering the ruins, opening the central tower, and my fiddling with the map there. There's probably more to the complex, but you know. That's for Ail to okay. And even if not, there's more of that material lying around in the ruin we found, if we can find a use for it," Taylor remarked. "I'll... I'll get out of your way," he added, turning to leave the lab. |

Satisfied, Fran hooked a cable to the back of SICC-D's head and played the re orded footage on a large widescreen computer."Great then, I'll give this a little study" she replied."You guys should leave as well, I don't need any distractions." she told the kids waving them away. The kids exchanged glances and left gladly while Mona began to describe what all happened on the other side of the gate. Of course she would exagerate the story a bit. Luna followed behind them as they went the opposite direction down the hall. She would maybe go off somewhere to herself or maybe discuss what she saw with someone else. |

Taylor smiled a little, though it had a touch of bitterness to it. The challenge of creating the artificial gate had taken a good portion of focus on Taylor's part as well, but he'd welcomed it. The alternative, what he was now faced with, was sticking it alone with his thoughts. He quietly made his way through the complex, not paying much heed to where specifically he was going, but enough that he wasn't about to run into anyone again. Alone with his thoughts... and his memories. He sighed, leaning against a wall. It was strange, being 'part' of something again... |

Peering around the corner was Aquis, the blue siren with a hypnotic singing voice. She was making sure no one was on the other side because she had been playing hide and seek with some of the other kids. This time she was to hide and the girls would come seek her. She was doing well until she saw Taylor leaning against the wall lost in thought. She Looked back to make sure the girls weren't there before walking to him slowly. She cleared her throught to let him know she was there,"Are you alright, Taylor?" |
