Taylor walked down the halls towards the lab, dreading the upcoming verbal sparring match. It'd become a routine in the month since he'd officially joined up with the Worldwide Protection Organization, and he'd been 'volunteered' to help their scientist complete her interdimensional portal project... on account of he was able to jump between dimensions at will, so it was assumed he knew something about the physics involved. Like physics has anything to do with it. Though they were right, he was something of an expert in the matter. And with his help, they had a rudimentary map of the 'closest' dimensions to Ail's world. The hard part was setting up the portal so that whetever they sent through survived the trip. No energy-shield they'd come up with was able to emulate the Planeswalker Spark's protection from the void long enough before failing to keep their test packets intact. He hated to admit it, but maybe they were looking at this the wrong way. He thought about some of the other groups he'd encountered that knew how to travel the multiverse. He got so lost in thought... he wasn't watching where he was going. |

Walking down the hall in a very fast pace in the opposite was Canrie. She had been babysitting the younger children for a minute but coudn't quite get them under control. She was supposed to keep them away from the lab and out of everyone else's way, but since she isn't an adult the kids don't really listen to her or treat her with respect. She began to think. The only adults the children really listened to were Ail and Luna, but Ail has been spending most of her time trying to visit her sister in jail, who doesn't even like her, or either traveling with Richard to the other kingdoms in regaining ownership over their lost lands. Luna has been disappearing frequently, but would now be found somewhere meditating around the building where it was quiet. Canrie was interrupted from her thoughts as she bumped into Taylor and let out a grunt."Hey! Watch where you're going you...", she paused as she realized it was Taylor. "Oh, Taylor, you should really watch where you're walking...", she commented with her arms crossed "Hey, wait a minute! Don't touch that!" Fran shouted from her lab. The mahogany colored squirrel was in the middle of fixing a minor glitch in SICC-D's rockets located within the bottom of her feet. They would give out in mid flight unexpectedly. Unfortunately Mona, Drake and Basel were in the lab causing a bit of chaos at the time. Basel was rummaging through Fran's tools and throwing which ever he didn't need for himself over his shoulder to who knows where "Nope, not that one." the little brown beaver said throwing a huge ranch over his shoulder and adjusting his glasses. Fran's assistant, a human girl with long bluish-black hair in pigtail braids and a black maids dress, barely dodged the ranch in time. "This is insane..." she said softly Drake was hovering above SICC-D and batting his fist at her,"Pff, I can take this hunk of junk any day!" he shouted with smoke puffing from his nostrils and mouth. The orange dragon kept taunting the robot by blowing black smoke rings at her. "Hey, stop bothering my bot! You kids are such a nuisance..." she said pulling her orange hair that was pulled back in a curled ponytail. Fran looked up at Mona as the little spider monkey made a screeching sound while hanging from the ceiling light with her tail and laughing. Mona had a remote that had green screen on it that showed weapon options for SICC-D. She didn't really know what any of it meant or what it could do, but she was going to find out. "N-no! Don't press any....!" before Fran could finish, SICC-D's screen came on with her eyes glowing wide and blue. "Beam Cannon activated!" she said as she held up her right arm and it transformed into a red and white cannon with energy forming in the center of it aiming at the entrance. "Oops..." Mona whispered as she dropped the remote. Fran quickly grabbed a black collar from off the table she had been buffing SICC-D on and quickly snapped the heavy tech onto SICC-D's neck. Fran pressed a button on it and a green light came on. "Weapons disabled." a voice from the collar spoke and SICC-D's arm quickly changed back and the red and white machine stood straight with her arms to her side as if nothing happened.. The energy that was being formed turned into a heavy pulse that vibrated all across the building in making everything shake for a minute. Fran shuttered and pointed to the door."Get....out...", the children all looked at each other and then proceeded to the door. Mona felt a little bad she almost blast the building but she couldn't help her curiosity. Drake had more of a grudging look on his face as he followed Mona and Basel in that hallway. Hera looked sympathetically at Fran as the squirrel rambled on about how hard she works and how she can't even get a moment of piece without someone trying to destroy the building. Hera walked over and patted the squirrel on her back, "It'll be alright, Francis," she said with her soft voice. |

"Sorry, Canrie. Just trying to puzzle out this project me and Fran have been tackling. I think I--" Taylor was interrupted by the rumbling. "Aw no..." he murmured, making a mad dash for the labs, arriving as the children were being shooed out. Taylor's first assumption was proven wrong as he peeked into the labs. Of course, he still instantly regretted it, 'cause he saw Fran was furious, presumably with the kids who were just kicked out. "Okay, I... I miss something?" |

The vibration from the rumble made Canrie's feathers ruffle up and a shiver run through her body. "What was...?", before she finished Taylor had already made a run for the lab. She followed shortly behind him and met the children in the hall. They had guilty looks on their faces, well except Drake, he feels he's done nothing wrong. "What did you guys do?", Canrie asked. The children all gave Canrie a sinful look. She sighed and tuned away gesturing with her head for the to follow her. Fran stopped her rambling and looked at Taylor, still a little furious. "Yeah, those brats nearly torched the place...", Fran shouted walking over to SICC-D and chained the collar she was wearing."I hate children...nothing but a nuisance the lot of 'em.", she said scornfully. Hera looked at Fran with soft eyes then to Taylor."She doesn't mean that... she's just stressed is all." the girl said. |

Taylor had, in his travels, found kids to be helpful when treated right, but it hadn't stopped him from wanting to shoot the occasional brat. He decided to change the subject. "Well. Near catastrophe aside, I think I got something for the dimensional portal project. I know, we've been butting heads over this for weeks, but... we can safely say now that you were right and I was wrong. Test Six, the one I completely flipped my lid on? That setup was about as quick a connection as we got. I'm still uneasy about the distortions with those settings, but the progress we made focusing on the shield? I think we can use that to protect the lab and the LZ from the harmful effects," he explained. "We can make this thing happen... and I'm pretty sure we can prove it today." |

Fran looked back at Taylor for a second before turning back to SICC-D. She remembered the week they tried test six very well. She remembered how much Taylor got on her nerves the whole time and how she wanted to sic SICC-D on him. He would completely make her furious and lose her mind but hearing him admit she was right made her smirk a little. "Today, huh?" she pondered. Guess we could give it a try." she replied. Fran had to admit she was more focused on getting to the LZ rather than if it would be safe there. Of course she would want the travel to be safe, but she figured if the travel was safe itself then so would the LZ. If they weren't careful they could cause damage to both end. Although they seemed to be agreeing at the moment, Hera stayed at a distance where she wouldn't be caught in the crossfire of an argument. |

"Alright. Give me some time to realign the shields. I'm still iffy about that test, but if we can isolate the area where we're establishing the gateway..." Taylor said, launching into terms that Fran probably didn't realize he even understood, before finishing with, "...If I'm interpreting what I've seen concerning gates right, what happens here, should be mirrored on the other end while the dimensions' borders link together temporarily. That's what I think all that distortion I was worried about comes from. So if we can contain it on this end, it should be contained on the other side, too," he said, opening a panel on the machine they were working on. |

Fran had a surprised yet, impressed expression on her face while listening to Taylor. After he finished, Fran straightened her expression and commented,"Uh, yes....My thoughts exactly." Fran turned to Hera."Give us some room." she said as she gave Hera the chain to SICC-D's collar and slid the remote into her white lab coat. Hera led SICC-D a little ways from where Taylor and Fran were, sat on the floor and watched them both. SICC-D transformed into a dog and lay next to Hera. SICC-D's screen showed sheep jumping over a fence indicating she had gone into a sleep mode. |

Taylor kept working, basically taking out the shield devices from the gateway's ring, and put them back so they pointed to the center of the ring rather than at the wall. "Alright, that should do it. So where do we want to point our test gate today?" he asked as he slotted the last one into position. |

Excitement rose in Fran's body and burned to the tip of her ears. She wanted to blurt out a destination, yet the only place she knew of was Mobius, but that was to obvious. Fran wanted to visit somewhere she's never been, but whats the chance of ending up somewhere totally safe than hostile? "Can we point it random?" she asked. |

"I would not recommend it. Jumping blind can get you in all kinds of trouble... I still got some of the scars," he said. After a moment, though, he smirked. "Then again, most who jump dimensions on their own usually have their first jump blind. I did, too, so who am I to talk?" He nodded. "Aight. Go for it. Your suggestion, your project, you should be the one to punch it in," he said, flipping a few switches for the recording instruments. "Test 14, preparations nearly complete..."

Fran nodded, punched in randomly on the panel and watched as the center of it began to glow a bright blue. She stared at it for a minute before backing away a bit. She wasn't frightened, just a little overwhelmed. She turned around quickly as she heard the lab door open with Mona, Drake, and Basel standing at the entrance while Luna stood behind them with her arms crossed. "We're kind of in the middle of....", before she finished Luna held up her hand to silence her. It worked but Fran always hated that. "The children have something to say...go on.", Luna moved in closer so the kids would enter the lab. All three kids looked up at Fran,"Sorry.", they all echoed simultaneously. Fran smirked at the children then looked at Luna. "Between him and the kids I don't know who's gotten on my nerves more these past few days...", Fran commented glancing at Taylor while sticking her hands in her pocket. She could tell Luna didn't quite like the comment from the unpleased expression on her face, but she could care less . "Apology excepted all the same...", she said. "I wouldn't think Taylor would consider you a joy to work with either.", the wolf retorted. At that moment the Drake and Basel went over to SICC-D and woke her from her sleep mode to mess with her while the adults spoke. Mona seemed to be in a trans as soon as she saw the machine. She crept over to the machine while everyone else was occupied, hypnotized by the circular motion of the dimensional gate in front of her. Mona stuck out her right arm and slowly put it towards the gate before quickly jerking it back in fright. Her fright was quickly overpowered by her curiosity and excitement making her stick her arm through it. She looked back with a smile then back at the gate. She had her arm halfway in before jumping full body into the gate without a sound. Neither Drake or Basel had payed any attention to whether Mona was around or not, just busy playing with SICC-D and Hera who were also oblivious to the scene. |

"Huh. Well," Taylor muttered as the gate opened. "Results are... instantaneous. We're in--" He got cut off as the door opened for Luna and the children. "Hey, I resent that! Fran's great to work with when we can find common ground. It's just that 'experts' hate to swallow their pride..." he admitted as Luna commented on him and Fran's 'clashing'. He glanced over to Hera, SICC-D and the kids. "Waitaminnit. Where's... where's what's-her-face, Mona?" He glanced around, his gaze snapping to the fading ripples in the gate. "Oh, HELL no."

"Please, no...", Fran choked out as Luna pushed pass her with a shocked look on her face. A sick chill ran through Fran's chest as she stood there frozen with panic. Luna stood over Basel and Drake,"You should have said something!" she shouted."W-we didn't know!", Basel replied back a little shooken. Hera put her hands on both child's shoulders,"We didn't notice she was gone, Luna.", she added. "We have to go after her!" Fran said to Taylor.

Taylor didn't need to be told twice. "I'm on point. If I'm not back here in twenty seconds, it's safe enough," he said, as he strode to the portal. "Watch your step as you go through..." he warned as he went through. The other side was relatively safe, as Taylor emerged onto a rocky outcropping overlooking the ruins of some kind of ancient city. Even from a distance, he could recognize the building style. "Hell's bells. There's no way..." he breathed. He stepped from the portal, looking for any sign of Mona. He did note a winding path from the overlook down to the plains below, as well as the sky darkening as if a storm was about to hit. "Oi! Mona!" he shouted. It had barely been a minute, how far could she have gone? |
